If the Lite version is missing features you require, use the FULL version from Adobe. shark
-
you're welcome. The file I used as a basis for creating the English Lite version was originally named AdbeRdr90_en_US_Std.exe it was 25.1MB and had an MD5 of e714ec99dad64310176a5278189f8dc0 NOTE: I use FTP for file transfers whenever possible because dialup sucks and FTP often resumes shark

I would appreciate ANY msfn user that frequents these forums to contact me by PM to receive a download URL for the 9.0 German Lite version and is willing to subsequently upload it to rapidshare for me. msfn user Dynaletik has stepped up and offered to make the German version available - expect a download URL soon. Thanks Dynaletik dialup sucks by with your help I can get the german version out today too. The French and Japanese versions will have to wait until I can upload them to my private server and then I'll contact coucou to make it available on rapidshare. (aprox. 24hrs from this posting) shark

Thanks to all for the pat on the back... I have prepared version 9.0 in 4 languages (thats all that was available at the time I visited Adobe) English, German, French, Japanese As usual, I use dialup, it will take some time to get them uploaded. MajorGeeks will have the English version tomorrow morning (12-14hrs after this post) I will try to get MajorGeeks to carry the German version also. All other versions will be on the rapidshare server IF that avenue is still available to me ( i think it is) shark

Shark recommends that if you are using a Lite version, ignore the update. The Lite versions that I release are not vunerable to this exploit. The plugin affected was removed during the Lite'ing process. shark

[Release] Adobe Shockwave Player 11.0.0.465
Shark007 replied to Shark007's topic in Application Installs
Thank you for the information. it shouldnt be there and the folder(s) and file can be deleted. The installer should be checking for an existing version in system32 and installing that file if none exists. I'll post here again once I have uploaded an updated version. shark -

[Release] Adobe Shockwave Player 11.0.0.465
Shark007 replied to Shark007's topic in Application Installs
The MSI didn't work either. I get the same error: "Shockwave Error: $1, One or more Shockwave files are missing." my best guess for your error at a bare minimum, windows installer 2.1 is required. update windows installer (from microsoft, free), try again. -

Have you tried using the MSI .. it is available in the text below the exe. -
when I need to teach people to use the software they chose to install onto their computer - intro to handholding 101On a clean installation from re-authored installation media, I believe it will default to the installer language, but for a desktop installation... After installation .. from the menu's Edit Preferences International <--- set it here shark

PLEASE wait until it is available for download before requesting a Lite version. At the time of your request and the time of this reply .. IT IS NOT EVEN AVAILABLE YET ! thanks for wasting my time.. shark

Installing the latest release of FFDshow-Tryouts will support MOV (hdmov) playback in ANY directshow player. You will also need THIS splitter installed using the command regsvr32 "fullpathto\mp4splitter.ax" Using the above information, any M$ Windows player, including MediaCenter will play the content. You DO NOT need quicktime alternative or the official quicktime to playback quicktime (HD) content. If the MOV file originated from a camera, I suggest using the Vista Codec Package and use the shortcuts provided to enable MOV files from camera's. (shameless plug since I along with the help of the MSFN community develop VCP) shark

How do I use my Internet Explorer favorites everywhere?
Shark007 replied to a topic in Application Installs
I zip up my Favorites folder and email it to myself. No matter where I am or who's computer I am on, as long as I can access the internet, I have my Favorites handy. shark -
Just a guess, is it possible some other installation prior to this, installed older versions of the runtime libraries? specifically, Microsoft.VC80.CRT version=8.0.50727.163 which installs the files, msvcm80.dll - msvcp80.dll - msvcr80.dll A quick resolve would be to move this installer sooner than others. shark

[Discontinued] iTunes without QuickTime
Shark007 replied to Shark007's topic in Application Installs
The problem most likely comes from my version of quicktime not iTunes. I have not modified Itunes at all. The official iTunes 'updated' quicktime to the official release. My version of quicktime is stripped down to a browser plugin. I'll update my page to let people know my quicktime is not compatible with iTunes. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. shark -
There is no need to bash anothers preference or area of expertise. Bottomline - we use what we are comfortable with. I like inno, its is clean and efficient and as others pointed out, quite easy to understand and use. For someone new to all this, I recommend inno. I also like MSI because I am comfortable with it and its extremely configurable. (not that inno isnt as configurable) shark

I may be wrong, but I think this only works on the same computer WD09.dta was created on. The file is 'hardware' specific. shark

I was as gentle as possible. shark

none.

sometimes... i repeat SOMETIMES, using the system provided disk cleanup utility to remove thumbnail caches can correct this issue. When this happens and I KNOW for fact the file isnt corrupted, I ignore the glitch and move on to my next task. shark

The experimental MPC Homecinema Edition (x64) by default uses internal codecs that arent avaiable to the other players. These can be turned off in which case you'll need system installed codecs. The current release of MPC x64 is quite buggy. I am surprised you would choose this software over the x64 ffdshow tryouts builds which work quite well and is what I distribute in my x64 Components release of the Vista Codec Package FYI , the Vista Codec Package was conceived and continues to be developed right here on the MSFN forums shark
-
The only existing x64 MPEG2 codec capable of DVD playback is provided with Vista Premium and Ultimate installations. These system provided codecs are not transferable to other operating systems. At this time, no other x64 DVD codec exists. shark

Yes a default installation does all you mention. Following the URL in my signature will lead you to a modified installer. These switchless installers do not require the official quicktime, dont associate any file extensions and dont load the helper app on fresh boot up(s) shark
