Ill need to ask a few more questions. Is your system a compac pr hewlet packard or any kind of thrown together machine? Secondly altho your specs help me out Im look for what your bios says. Things you need to be aware of are in your MB manuel you need to look for what your default setting are for the following.... 1.CPU Vcore- ex. my defualt was the lowest which is 1.65v but I run my at 1.85v. What this does in easier terms is supplies you cpu with higher Volts.This helps with overclocking. 2.Voltage I/O Settings (VIO)- This will really give you a better overclocking chance. Its the Voltage that your mother board is ran at. Most motherboards have 3 setting. Ex. Mine has 3.30v, 3.40, 3.60....I run mine at the highest settings 3.60v. 3.Your chip configuration- This is your ram. SDRAM Timing should have to settings (BY SPD, User Define) Depending on your ram you should start at the lowest settings which should be By SPD and settings below that 3T, 3T, 3T. (Trans Trc 7T,9T) Other than leaving your FSB:SDRAM:PCI FREQ. RATIO set to 133:133:33 over clocking your motherboard will be done through FSB/SDRAM/PCI FREQ. (MHZ) settings in your bios. Now start one things at a time. Once you have overclocked you can up your RAM settings to see if all runs stable. A big warning if trying to overclock make sure you have plenty of fans and air flow. Also throw away the piece of crap heatsink and fan you got with your CPU and get a good one. Those never do a good job. Just to give you a idea on air flow I have 1 fan in front of case, 2 in rear, 1 on top, 2 on side, fan on chipset, fan on graphics card, and BIG heatsink WITH A BIG FAN on my CPU. All are not stock but were put on by me. Well altho Im not the XPert here on networking I can tell you one thing....XP FIREWALL SUCKS.....Try to go with another firewall app and disable XP. Sygate and Zone Alarm is getting good feed back. -cHRIS

Theres upgrade drivers for cpu....that might help. Also overclocking what type of ram are you using. Have you set your CPU Volts higher in your bios. Change your setting on ram from 222 back to 333 and normal not strong. Your going to have to post more about your settings in your bios to get any help. Included your settings for ram and cpu and your voltage your running your MB at.Start a new thread for overclocking....That would help out alot. Thanks! -Chris

Well why would you want to uninstall Windows messanger, or remote assistance...You did, its just a preferance...Doesnt interfer with other burning software. Your choice. -Chris

Any time you alter your start up program in msconfig after you reboot it will tell you that you have changed things...Duh of course you know this so you click ok...No biggy, What FthrJACK said is right.....It only turns off XP burning software. :spaced :spaced -Chris

FYI...fthrjack and I are in the works to get another website up so all images and files (small) can be put up on that. This will reduce alot of space that xper wont have to give up and also will help loading forums up. Ill post it under general discussion when its ready. You will be able to logg in and post your files. -Chris

I still have promblem with Zone Alarm even having a password protected Login name....It happens about 1 out of 5 times, shuts all internet acsess down, have to reboot. Oh well.... Im not sure if ghost would have even helped...Can you reload image from dos because thats all I had. I dont know what happen, I dont remember if I took my firewall down....My pc had been on for close to 5 days straight so I cant recal. Provider did say earlier last night I was being ping from several other servers, there tracking them to find out. I just got XP back up and will do all my tweaks to get it back. Late staurday night I was talk to FthrJack and I was assulted by someone or somebodys. Computer went nuts, programs were closing down, Icons and files were being deleted, I had been hacked. Try to figure out what the f*** was going on my only chance was to shut down. I shut down and rebooted to 98....s*** files missing...Rebooted to 2000...same thing. XP was also currupt. I immediatly got on the phone to my provider. They check the activity on my IP and say a connection of 43 IP address. There currently checking them out and will let me know what the status is. Im providing this IMPORTANT information because I was running sygate firewall. Also when I first noticed this happening I enabled XP firewall....Didnt stop s***. Anyways I formatted 3 OS and reinstall 2000 so far. Today....(No freaking sleep, its 4:10am in the morning of sunday) when the store opens Im off to get me the best got dam router with a firewall built in.....If anyone recieves e-mail from me in the next day do NOT open it if it contains a attachment. And think twice about what your security your using....I got f***ED ROYALY! -Chris

You know most of the speed test that I have ran at DSLreports and speed411 all are up and down scores....My biggest notice is the web surfing speed and downloading files from servers. I was unable to go over 14kbs uploading but last night I was uploading at 17.5 steady which is great. Just to give you a ex. the scores I got on DSLReports have ranged any where from 900kbs to 400kbs... Big difference huh! -Chris

Just a update .....I did everything that was mentioned on the link plus a few more things that I have posted the link for and what a huge difference. Speed benchmarks and down times have increased.....Believe it but I download this file off of a website and got 172kbs....I s*** my pants. Oh well thought Id let everyone know. Make sure you read everything and follow the steps exactly....It took me a little over and hour but it was worth it. Well I found what I believe was looking for....The link posted above and the forums informed me alot about increasing the speed for a cable and DSL connection....Theres alot of information you can find here...Check it out. ht*p://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46041 But still looking to see if uncapping a connection is possible...Any advice on that? -Chris

Ive done several tweaks with 95,98,2000 to help out with downloads and uploads, But Ive been unable to find any of these settings talked about.
