  3. I have encountered same problems as Virindi and blank windows. I've found this solution to solve the problem : Internet Explorer Opens Blank Windows + reboot computer.
  4. NTswitch produced by Hungarian outfit 3am Labs Search and download link Better to have a 2K Server without AD installed (dcpromo.exe) and turn to 2K Wks than to have a 2K Wks and turn it to Server. But will not solve your network problem just from switching from Server to Wks.
  5. Maybe your problem comes from the 2 Gb size limitation ? OL: Oversized PST and OST Crop Tool Try to decrease the size of the file may solve others problems ?
  6. @GM Could you add this to the supported RAID drivers in the next release of XPCreate : LSI MegaRAID IDE 100 Controller Furthermore, maybe could you write a small guide : How to integrate RAID drivers not supported natively by XPCreate. A batch that expand xpcreate.cab, add the TXTSETUP.OEM info renamed to the right name (check the name of .sys driver file and rename TXTSETUP.OEM to the %driver_name%.OEM) and rebuild the cab would be a killer application. I'll send you the driver by E-Mail
  7. I have same kind of problem as PoloDude. When i run the installation of Acrobat Reader 6 with his own ini file (as posted in my previous post), all works fine. When i try to install more than one application with a complete install.ini and put them before the Adobe Reader 6 install, some parts of my Adobe Reader 6 install commands fails. i think the search path is not reset to restart from the first in your list mentionned for each command.x process.
  8. @BenjaminKalytta Thanks for making your application Windows 2000 compatible. And another thanks for implementing the command.x suggestion. My sample for silent installation of the last version of Adobe Reader : AdbeRdr6.ini [Environment] [Adobe Reader 6.0.2] command.0=AdbeRdr6\AdbeRdr60_enu_full.exe -p"-s /v\"/qn\"" command.1=AdbeRdr6\Acro-Reader_6.0.2_Update.exe -p /S /v/qn command.2=regedit /s AdbeRdr6\AdbeRdr6.reg command.3=AdbeRdr6\ReaderSpeedUp.exe description=view and print Adobe PDF files default=1 and the command to launch : wihu.exe /SkipRestart /SkipSettings /AutoInstall=1 /ini=AdbeRdr6.ini Thanks to msfn.org members for silent switchs and reg files : Acro-Reader_6.0.2_Update.exe Jjaz .reg post Adobe Reader SpeedUp (current version 1.21) see silent deployment in ReadMe.txt
  9. 2K Pro SP4 French build with XPCreate and installed on a real box (not in VMWare). The building process works nice except the small IE6 package creation problem mentionned before. At the end of installation, i run WindowsUpdate AutomaticUpdate and found 2 HF to install : KB831167 (IE6SP1) and KB828026 (WM). The about box in IE 6.0.2800.1106 reports updates as installed : SP1 Q831167 Q832874 Q837009 but the Q831167 HF isn't listed in add/remove programs list. for WM, i don't know where to look if HF installed as i don't install WMP9 and the standard 6.4 don't report installed HF in about box. Has another Francophone user experimented this problem ? I'm inattentive ! I have not only removed the MPSetup.exe from SVC-WMP folder but also both WindowsMedia9-KB837272-FRA.exe and WindowsMedia-Q828026-x86-FRA.exe package from SVC-HF1. The second one is not WMP9 specific but covers all WMP versions. But Q831167.exe is in the right place in SVC-HF2 folder.
  10. Same problem as gely. The test was done with a French W2KPro SP4 flat source on external USB HDD. I have copied PEXP Installer on the USB HDD, boot BartPE and run PEXP Installer. i'll send you the screencap.
  11. Suggestion for the winnt32.exe parameters in settings.ini this would be more easier if the syntax is the same as the command line. [switch] /s:F:\I386 /unattend:c:\unattend.txt /syspart:c: /tempdrive:c: /makelocalsource /noreboot ;/copydir:F:\UPDATES if the switch is present in the [switch] section in settings.ini, it is passed to the winnt32.exe with the values no need to use the 0|1 value. If we don't need to pass a switch, we just put a ; before the switch like /copydir in my sample. Can you add this /copydir switch in winnt32.exe parameters (same as /s with input for the path)
  12. @GM Little problem with XPCREATE downloading IE6 Files for building a French 2K SP4 CD. During the iesetup download IE files and before the installer is built, i need to pause the script to remove a file from the TEMP\IESOURCE folder. The file is named in french Ce dossier peut être supprimé.txt avé les accents. Unfortunatly, ieexpress don't like very much this kind of file name and canno't build the IE Setup Package. A solution to take care of this annoying problem and automatically delete this file (may be *.txt would be more easy covering all non ENU languages...) would be fine !
  13. @ToBe Could you post your SED file for the package you've created. Helpful for non ENU users to build the DX9upd.exe in their own language... Thanks.

  15. Too bad. Why users still running 2K and don't want to upgrade OS (give money to m$) and can't upgrade hardware are excluded ? XP OS stuff is builded on the NT / 2K source code with "enhancements". @BenjaminKalytta Could you make your utility 2K compatible or rewrite the code is definitively too hard ?

I launch pexpinstaller from Windows 2000 to make a parallel install in another folder than default WINNT. My source (XPCreate build) are on a external USB2 HDD.

  19. Happy to hear about the new version. One of the most important thing for me (and it's on your todo list) is the choice to launch winnt32.exe with more switches ie G:\BuildCD\2KCreate\CDROOT\I386\winnt32.exe /s:G:\BuildCD\2KCreate\CDROOT\I386 /unattend:c:\winnt.sif /syspart:c: /tempdrive:c: /makelocalsource /noreboot you can had checkbox in the main windows to select switches. and a list to select values for each one of these switches that accept a value as parameter (/s: /syspart: and /tempdrive:) And the text should be more explicit : i would prefer "location of response file" instead of "where to save winnt.sif to". If we use the answerList=2 in settings.ini, winnt.sif is not saved but just read. I've noticed a crash when the lengh is too long in settings.ini : winnt32Location=G:\BuildCD\2KCreate\CDROOT\I386\winnt32.exe You can add the ability to type the command we want to launch with [GuiRunOnce] section.
  20. @GM In the next release, maybe can you replace the download -download in XPCreate code with a variable and set the variable in XPCreate.ini If someone want to use GNU wget (or another console downloader), replace iOpus download.exe with wget.exe in the xpcreate folder, set the syntax for downoading files in XPCreate.ini (replace the default download -download with wget -c. The downloader should have the same default syntax URL FILENAME for source and target. Because i have problems to download big files like SPs or WMP, it would be interesting to use the new flashget (adware free to use or shareware) Support command line :(flashget.exe [save directory]) [save directory] is optional Multithreads download for faster downloads and no errors.
  21. Thanks japo for sharing your experience. As says GM, i would like to use a command line only method that copy and install the stuff during the same phase of DirectX and IE install and not during the guirunonce phase. Maybe 7zip has some features that can help me to create a self extracting and silent installation package without to learn before how it works like NSIS. Still under investigation...

  23. the [ProductCatalogsToInstall] should not be empty but list the name of the CATs files. A sample of my Win2K svcpack.inf [Version] Signature="$Windows NT$" MajorVersion=5 MinorVersion=0 BuildNumber=2195 [SetupData] CatalogSubDir="\i386\svcpack" [SetupHotfixesToRun] DX81NTOP.EXE /Q:A /R:N IE6SP1.EXE /Q:A /R:N IE6START.EXE /Q:A /R:N 329115.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 818043.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 820888.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 822831.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 823182.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 823559.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 824105.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 824141.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 824146.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 825119.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 826232.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 828035.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 828741.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 828749.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 829558.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 835732.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 837001.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z Q832894.EXE /Q:A /R:N "ENU_Q8~1.EXE /Q:A /R:N /C:""DAHOTFIX.EXE /Q /N""" QCHAIN.EXE [ProductCatalogsToInstall] DTCSETUP.CAT KB329115.CAT KB820888.CAT KB822831.CAT KB823182.CAT KB823559.CAT KB824105.CAT KB824141.CAT KB824146.CAT KB825119.CAT KB826232.CAT KB828035.CAT KB828741.CAT KB828749.CAT KB829558.CAT KB835732.CAT KB837001.CAT Q818043.CAT Q832894.CAT I hightly recommend to use XPCreate to build install CDs with HF already integrated.
  24. As asked by frankyboy_01 Some people wants to use a M$ SUS Server or a linux/samba box on LAN to store hotfixes and service packs downloads. My wish is to store HF, SP and IE setup and cabs on local Web Server and use my own preconfigured XPCTHLST.TXT download list from this server. That way, i can run XPCREATE without internet connection building XP or 2K CDs. The problem i've already mentionned : IE6SETUP.EXE SETUPURL is coded in XPCreate.cmd and download directive file use external URLs for DownloadLocation and DownloadSiteList. Why not use variables instead stored in XPCTHLST.TXT [IEInfo] SETUPSIZE=B716D55795275B7F6596DE468B334FB4 CURIEPATH=SVC-PRE\IE6SP1.EXE DownloadLocation=http://download.microsoft.com/download/ie6sp1/finrel/6_sp1/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/ DownloadSiteList=http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6sp1/download/rtw/x86/ie6sites.dat Set SETUPURL=%Downloadlocation%ie6setup.exe in XPcreate.cmd Using this method, we can also make a md5 checksum of the downloaded IE6setup.exe (like all other downloaded HF and SP files). Maybe GM will accept this idea on modify the code in the next future. @GreenMachine or @Virindi With the last version of XPCREATE, :CHECKAUTO use CURSPMD5 variable from HFLIST file to check the downloaded SP. From the latest 2KS SP4 HFLIST file the variable defined is called CURSPSIZE. as the file is already in my SPACKS dir, i don't download the file and md5 is not checked. I will try to delete the file and re-download to see what happens later ? @frankyboy_01 Would you like to send me your code ?
  25. and why not try M$ tool DevCon Command Line Utility Alternative to Device Manager and look this page for DevCon Examples @GreenMachine DriverGuide Toolkit is maybe a fine tool but it's not free and probably need to be installed on the windows box. People like you with a lot of knowledge in batch and scripts would prefer to use console command line utility. XPcreate is the best example of the powerful scripting and batch possibilities and let the user learn how it works by examining the code better thant a program hardcoded in VB or other language.
