  1. @AaronXP I have save a copy of DX92KOPK.EXE (size = 12980112) & DX9XPOPK.EXE (size = 12972944) from a new HP Compaq computer before automatic installation of the OS. I would like to upload the first one to msfn for W2K users who are interested. I have no personal FTP to share this file. Is it possible ? Regards
  2. @jdgordon Can you make your program more versatile by allowing to alter all the values for each section for example for [unattended] section, add DriverSigningPolicy= FileSystem= I would like the ability to set the maximum of options and run your program under WinPE I have found an other program winnt.sif creator that can do the work but unfortunately, needs .net framework. So can't be run from WinPE. Regards
  3. @ airmr Windows Post-install Wizard 1.2 Beta (pre 1.0) , Hello, a script, a license, & a warning by whimsy
  4. ProcessMate v1.87 coded by Weird ProcessMate lists all active processes and resolve their unique IDs, paths and number of threads.
  5. The problem is with the second character used in the name of the file (just after the 3) it's a Latin Small Letter I with a grave do you use a windows MUI + your specific language ? If yes, try to toogle in your language : Start | Settings | control Panel | Regional Options and select your Input Local. Click OK. Open a Command Prompt . Go in each directory where resides the file and type del 3ìFLOP~1.LNK (i don't know how to reproduce the ì with your keyboard in your language, the ascii code is 00EC, found in charmap.exe) It should works. I have already have the same problems with special French characters with graves (ie éèàù). Good luck. P.S. No matter if NOD32 is trial or Registered version.
  6. You don't need to keep Installshield Redistributable Files : data1.cab data1.hdr data2.cab ikernel.ex_ <-- InstallShield® Engine layout.bin setup.bmp Setup.exe <--InstallShield ® Setup Launcher Setup.ini setup.inx setup.iss Setup16.bmp InstallShield is one of the oldest and most widely used application packaging systems. Installers created by InstallShield recognize the /r, /s, /sms, /f1, and /f2 switches. The installer itself is invariably named setup.exe. To perform a silent installation, you need an InstallShield "answer file", customarily named setup.iss. Some applications ship with such a file. run the installer with the /s ("silent") option will perform an unattended installation. Both files are not parts of the driver files and may be removed: modes.txt nvudisp.exe
  7. I tried to install OEM XP CD by Compaq on a PC of another brand. I noticed that the copy of the files on the hard disc booting with the CD occurred correctly. After the 1st reboot, a program checks that the BIOS comprises the strings of the manufacturer well and refuses to settle if this string do not corresponds. The file in question is setupldr.bin in the i386 CD directory. Try to obtain from a friend having regular Microsoft XP CD the file setupldr.bin. It will be necessary to burn new XP CD with the file modified by making an image of your DELL Recovery CD, to replace the file with an editor like UltraISO and to burn the image with a software like Nero. If the case of your dell and the motherboard is standard ATX, you can without problem upgrade the motherboard and the CPU and maybe PSU and Memory modules. You will have to re-install Windows XP with modified CD as explained.
  8. in your $oem$ directory add or edit : CMDLINES.TXT and SRCPATH.REG the source files should be copied from your CD to C:\I386 When you add optional components, the setup looks in c:\I386 for finding source.
  9. @ airmr If you still have the program on your harddrive or CD, Does not have the name of the author in a help file or readme.txt ? One could make a research by this name in the forum...
  10. Server Appliance Kit 3.0 for Windows Server 2003 Download SAK30.zip may includes the missing files from the v2.01 (update kit)
  11. Microsoft Server Appliance Kit v2.01 update unpack sak201.exe
  12. http://www.willowhayes.co.uk/ Getcd.exe is a utility to get the letter of the first CD-ROM drive in the system. This is useful during the applications phase of a unattended CD-ROM installation, because you don't always know which drive letter the CD-ROM will get. The program simply writes the drive letter (including colon) to the output stream. To insert the drive letter into an environment variable, you can use the following from a batch file: for /f "Tokens=*" %%a in ('getcd.exe') do set cdrom=%%a After running this command, you can refer to the CD-ROM drive using the %cdrom% environment variable. If you're not running the command from a batch file, use replace %% with % in the above command.
  13. On a windows installation where you haven't yet installed the SpeedTouch Software run setup.exe -R At the end of the installation, you will find a setup.iss file in the %WINDIR% It's the silent response file for installshield installer. for silent installation, run setup.exe -s from a folder where you have all the setup files + setup.iss file data1.cab data1.hdr data2.cab ikernel.ex_ inactive.bmp layout.bin logo.bmp setup.bmp setup.exe setup.ini setup.inx setup.iss setup.log (not sure that this file already exists before running setup.exe) usbmodem.bmp Don't plug the USB modem during unattended installation. You should plug it only at the end of the unattended windows installation. Otherwise, Windows PnP detection routines will claims for the driver not already copied. The same apply to all InstallShield packages InstallShield silent installation
  14. I did not test this application with mass storage drivers not included in Windows. All the PC which I installed are equipped with a i845 or i865 chipset. i launch an installer in GUI mode to replace standard drivers with Intel Drivers as mentionned before I dream as you of a program which would build me my unattend.txt file to fit my mass storage hardware.
  15. 1/ XPlode by Wraith XPlode is a tool which aids installation of programs during a Windows XP / 2003 installation. (Even been known to run under Win2K! Requires a copy of GDIPLUS.DLL.) It gives the ability to add users to the system, run programs, create shortcuts, modify the registry, and perform file and directory operations, all during a Windows installation. XPlode uses an XML script and a plugin architecture so you can modify what it does, how it runs, and only include the commands you need to use. 2/ This kind of program already exists, Consult my post on this topic. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=16548&hl= Nevertheless, it does not meet entirely my needs. Like SKiTLz, I wish to be able to make several commands for only one application to install. Exemple for pcAnywhere 10.5:
  16. To remove WebFldrs in Microsoft windows 2000, some other values should be changed from 1 to 0 "NoModify"=dword:00000000 "NoRemove"=dword:00000000 "NoRepair"=dword:00000000 Otherwise, we can see the WebFldrs item in the Add/Remove list but we the [Remove] / [Modify] buttons are greyed...
  17. My unattend.txt section related to language with my Windows 2000 MUI installation 040c = French change with 0406 = Dansk
  18. @Ausmith1 Can you explain me why you use IEAK to customize your IE6 installation. As i know, under Windows 2000 SFP is activated and protect most files for being replaced. When we install a new version of IE, 5.5 SP2 or 6.0 SP1, we can't choose the components to install, only the IE core, OE, WAB and SCRIPT are updated.
  19. Found some infos about quick setup of KAV : Kaspersky documentation but don't works with the two installshield packages i have : kavperspro40fre.exe (French version) or kavperspro4.5.0.94fre.exe (French version) After extraction of the IS package4theWeb, i run the setup.exe with the specified switches but installation ends without any error message. Have somebody successfully installed KAV silently on a new Windows install with no previous version of KAV already installed on default path C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro and no key stored on C:\Program Files\Fichiers communs\KAV Shared Files ?
  20. To disable mouse and keyboard, you should install a special driver from the Windows Server Appliance Kit. With SAPrep, you can configure your server to boot "headless" without keyboard and mouse connected. After copying this special drivers, you should add them to your WinPE and configuring registry to load them... I haven't check this kind of install but i'm currently working at works to build a Windows 2000 Server as web server without local accessibility (keyboard and mouse disabled) using the SA kit. SAK - Making the server appliance headless
  21. Have you try to use the RAMDISK.SYS included in Windows 2003 Server. From the 2003 server source : expand i386\ramdisk.sy_ %systemroot%\system32\drivers ramdisk.sys expand i386\ramdisk.in_ %systemroot%\inf\ramdisk.inf to install the driver to your working Windows use M$ DevCon Command Line Utility Alternative to Device Manager (Google search Q311272+DEVCON) : devcon -r install ramdisk.inf RAMDISK After rebooting (if necessary) you should probably export registry entries related to the ramdisk : Look at I haven't found at this time where to define in the registry DiskSize DriveLetter Maybe the settings are the same as M$ Q257405 Ramdisk.sys sample driver for Windows 2000 ?
  22. You should include the advpack.dll in the package. You can copy this dll from your %systemroot%\system32 directory
  23. Thanks for the command line to automate the installation of the driver. I was unaware of this easy way It runs perfectly for my laser printer connected on LPT1: Is your printer connected via USB port ? I have the same problem when i plug my USB Diskonkey the first time on a new installed computer. I don't have to install any driver but the plug&play mechanism detect new hardware and writes some values in the registry in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USB branch. You must make a regshot before and after plugging your new printer and create a new reg file that store the diff. After you will have to import the reg file regedit /s %path%\PRTplug.reg in your unattended install. Don't have tried it at this moment for my key due to being too busy Feedback welcome if it works for you...
  24. You're right, it's a XP Tool Microsoft Windows XP TaskKill but you can use freeware if you're working on W2K SysInternals PSTools PsKill - kill processes by name or process ID
