Did anyone find a solution to Firefox 3 printing? Just read a long thread but doesn't seem any solution, as yet??

Hummm...Still no joy. It just stalls on install (after about 2 seconds).

Cannot Get KernelEx to work with firefox setup 3.5.2. Install just crashes. Tried -- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\KernelEx\AppSettings\Configs] "*\\setup.exe"="WINXP" -- but that didn't work either. No error messages of any kind. Anyone any ideas?

The problem with 512MiB of Video RAM occurs when there is 1GiB or more of system RAM. It would appear, at least with AGP cards, that the entire video RAM is mapped as a frame buffer into the top 1GiB of address space. This space is also used for the AGP aperture, and the VCache among other functions. Also in this space is the VMM page table - this grows proportional to the amount of system RAM. Obviously the AGP Aperture and VCache must be reduced, but somewhere at or over 1GiB of system RAM, there is no more address space for 512MiB of video RAM... I'm not sure how a PCIe card would compare here since they don't use the AGP Aperture... Thanks for the additional info. BTW I'm using 1GB of RAM, so I guess it must be 'over' to cause the problem you mentioned.

I can also confirm no problem with 512MB of video RAM on win98SE (using GEForce 6200/512MB).

Got some further info on it.... It's unsupported (of course) ... The Bon Echo nightlies continue to be built, and fixes for security issues sometimes get checked into the Bon Echo branch. Can only answer from my own experience which is this: 1. USB on motherboard packed up (following a lightning strike!) , so I installed a PCI-USB card. Yes, you should be able to disable USB (motherboard provided USB) in BIOS. 2. Whether new USB will be detected in DOS I don't know, except to say that I use Ghost 2003 (DOS) and it detects mine.

No, sorry, this is not helpful. Worse, it is simply misleading and false. Did you use an old ATA disk? There is no SATA driver for the nVidia nForce3 250 chipset. Due to that information above, I spent a couple of hours downloading and installing drivers. Just to find out there is no such thing. My SATA I disk is still running in compatibility mode. Obviously, there are no Win98 drivers for newer Radeon cards. But I didn't want to switch back to my old card so I searched for a generic VESA driver and finally found this page: http://bearwindows.boot-land.net/vbe9x.htm Using that driver, I can run Windows 98 with a resolution of 1280 x 1024 at 32-bit colors. The drawing speed of the screen is fair (i.e. not really suited for action games), but who cares? It's surely better than 640 x 480 pixels / standard vga driver. :-) Regards I think you've said it all regarding nForce3 (which I use on Foxconn MB). nforce2 and 3 chipsets have a flaw (lack of driver support) with sata 2 drives. You have to force them to 1.5 or sata 1 mode with jumper to get them to work properly. One person on the foxconn forum told me: "At least I had too and could not install windows with them for the life of me. they worked fine as a hot swap storage drive but creates *very* long boot times (NCQ is not supported on these chipsets)." I use (P)ATA and see no reason to use sata at all. HTH

There's always the MS win98SE CD to fall back on - it contains a lot of drivers for HP printers, including Laserjet. The newer Laserjets which *aren't* on the win98SE CD, *may* be driven quite successfully by an older win98SE Laserjet printer driver since the family is software compatible to a large degree. Perhaps someone might know... BIOS in question is: Award BIOS v6.00PG. Not been able to find out if it supports >137GB. While I'm on this topic I'm also a bit puzzled about the 137GB fix (software), Esdi_506.pdr, and the version that's installed: File Version 4.10.2230 (product version 4.10.2222). Is that correct for 98SE2ME.

Thanks firstly for the info on this thread. The BIOS is also a crucial issue AFAICT.... Found a free utility that says it will tell you if your BIOS supports 48-bit Logical Block Addressing (LBA). I just downloaded the Unofficial IE6 Cumulative Upgrade component only ( (mdie6cu.exe). It installed in windows/system the following dlll> iepeers.dll. Not been able to find out if this is necessary in win98SE, but the version installed 6.00.2800.1616 doesn't seem to be listed here: http://www.programchecker.com/file/31791.aspx Just wondering what it does and do we need it? Audigy: Over a year ago I emailed the manufacturers (Creative's) support line to find out whether there were drivers for this. The answer was a definite no. I got a SB Live card from ebay cheap and it works great. On a different but related topic, if anyone is using SB Live on XP you can get the Audigy drivers to work with it.

Already tried that. Didn't work. From google search I think that the dll might need some other updated stuff not available in win98. At any rate I've not found a solution and it seems that this question has been asked many times...

Went and installed Any Video Converter program (avc-free.exe). It installed ok but won't run, complains of missing dll "mfc42U.dll". Evidently mfc42u.dll first made its appearance on winNT. Is there any way of solving this? I tried dloading the dll and doing Regsvr32 on it, but that doesn't work.
