  1. It is necessary to fix security vulnerabilities in nvlddmkm.sys, and make sure the driver works on Windows 7, 8.1, 10 (1507~1709). Besides, the release notes mention that NVIDIA display driver constrains Total Available Graphics memory to just below 4 GB for GeForce GPUs with 2.75 GB or less of video memory. .
  2. NVIDIA released R390 U10 for 64-bit version of Windows. The release notes didn't mention support for 32-bit Windows, so I think this is the end.
  3. AMD offers 32-bit version of Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise 18.Q4.1 which supports WDDM 2.4.
  4. Nvidia released R390 U9. I edited nv_dispwi.inf and it works with GeForce GTX 960.
  5. Because Radeon Software 18.10.1 does not support 32-bit Windows, 4gamer.net (a Japanese video game website) asked AMD, and AMD confirmed that Radeon Software support for x32-bit Windows operating systems has been moved to a legacy support mode. https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-120 https://www.4gamer.net/games/022/G002212/20181018086/ The final Radeon Software for 32-bit Windows is 18.9.3. And Nvidia released R390 U8 at September 2018.
  6. 1607 reached end of service on April, so you can upgrade to different version. If your laptop has a Clover Trail processor, you can apply servicing stack update KB4132216 before installing cumulative update KB4467691. Besides, Microsoft released a security update KB4465659 for SSU.
  7. Install KB4132216, then find the latest wcp.dll and change its ownership and permissions. Copy old wcp.dll to replace the latest one, then restore the ownership and permissions. I am using Windows 10 x86, so there is only one wcp.dll (x86) in KB4132216.
  8. Official 1607 ISO file contains KB3199986 SSU, and it is compatible with KB4103720 and old Flash Player security update. Anyway, I solved the problem by replacing the latest wcp.dll with old one. The installation of KB4284833 is successful.
  9. The latest servicing stack update KB4132216 causes failed installation/uninstallation of CU on Windows 10 Home. Installation of KB4284880 failed at 99%. Installation and uninstallation of KB4103720 also failed at 99%. The latest Flash Player security update is compatible with KB4132216.
  10. The security update for Flash Player (kb4038806) is compatible with Home edition 1507. I rolled back to 1507. Because 1511 turns on Windows Update automatically and installs updates and outdated drivers in the background, despite having turned off Windows Update service.
  11. KB4025376 is compatible with Home edition, but an error message appeared when I tried to install KB4025338. It seems that KB4032695 is the last cumulative security update compatible with Home edition 1507.
  12. I think the problem occurs because Legacy USB device support in BIOS is not fully compatible with Windows 98. You can use PS/2 mouse instead, or try to find compatible USB mouse. AFAIK, a Japanese user said Logitech G300r works fine with ASRock Z97 Extreme4, and he solved the problem by replacing G502 with G300r. My Logitech MX500 have the same problem, so I use its PS/2 converter. Besides, the USB 2.0 port on Asus A88X Gamer is compatible with USB 1.1, so I can install driver for OHCD USB Host Controller and USB mouse to solve the problem. I also use Maximus Decim Native USB ver.3.3 for EHCI USB Host Controller.
  13. You can use the Internet Archive Wayback Machine to find those files. Japanese? http://download.microsoft.com/download/ie5/IME/5.02/W9XNT4/EN-US/msjaime.exe Traditional Chinese http://download.microsoft.com/download/ie5/IME/5.02/W9XNT4/EN-US/tcmondo.exe Simplified Chinese http://download.microsoft.com/download/ie5/IME/5.02/W9XNT4/EN-US/scmondo.exe
  14. Sound Blaster Audigy Rx (SB1550) works with kX Project Audio Driver 3538. Because kX Project dropped support for Windows 9x since 3538i, and I can't find out kxdrv3538g-update.exe and kx3538h.rar on the Internet, so I use 3538c. I can hear the sound from Audigy Rx by setting the S/PDIF frequency in kX mixer to 96000. 3537 doesn't support Audigy 2 Value (SB0400), so it is not compatible with Audigy Rx. I also tried official driver 1.88.0025 released for Audigy 2 Value, but it only works on Audigy 2 (SB0240).
  15. If you use WDM driver, you may need to install 269601USA8.exe for better compatibility. If you tried VXD driver first, you can use CTZAPXX.exe to uninstall VXD driver before installing WDM driver.
  16. I uninstalled VBEMP display driver and tried to run AMDMsrTweaker 1.1, which requires HeapSetInformation. With KernelEx and Kstub822, I can turn off Turbo Core on Kaveri APU, but other functions like multiplier and voltage adjustments do not work.
  17. Media Players + Encoders + Codecs LAST - FREE - KbMedia Player (2.63a, Japanese version only) --- http://hwm5.gyao.ne.jp/kobarin/ Latest 2.80 beta supports Unicode and runs on XP and above.
  18. English version of K15TK (AMD Kaveri APU tweaker) runs on KernelEx 4.5.2 with Kstub822. But I have to edit Kstub822.ini. [Kernel32.dll] ActivateActCtx=f2e CreateActCtxW=t1e DeactivateActCtx=f2e ReleaseActCtx=f1 GetFileSizeEx=f2e HeapSetInformation=f4e The utility is the only one that can change the clock speed by limiting P-State range on Windows 98 SE. I also tried AmdMsrTweaker 1.1 on KernelEx 4.5.2, but it needs DOS prompt and Windows 98 SE always freezes and shows a black screen when I access the DOS prompt window. CPU-Z 1.6.8, CrystalCPUID, HWiNFO32 5.2.2 can't show correct clock speed. But HWiNFO32 5.2.2 shows multiplier, voltage identification, and benchmark scores that can prove K15TK works.
  19. Is it possible to add missing "none specified" option back to select list? I am from Taiwan, so choosing the option "Taiwan, Province of China" becomes a problem for me. If I choose the option, it is inevitable that I have to spend time dealing with political arguments or online harassment. The note about ISO 3166 in English Wikipedia explains why it matters. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1#cite_note-18 Google avoids this political issue by changing the option "Country" to "Country/Region". So I think the "none specified" option is still necessary.
  20. Since Dec 2014, AMD has released several iCafé unified drivers for China's internet cafes. Latest XP driver(9.000.300.3010) supports R7 360 and R9 370. Unfortunately, there is no device ID for R9 290. And I don't know how AMD "optimizes" the driver. I only know most files have been changed, but their version numbers stay the same. Official download page: http://support.amd.com/zh-cn/kb-articles/Pages/icafe-unified.aspx
  21. I installed Windows 2000 on the NTFS formatted logical drive.
  22. I've installed Windows 2000 on an ASUS A88X-GAMER with A8-7600. BlackWingCat's latest modded AHCI driver should be compatible with Bolton series chipset. So I modded another AHCI driver used by Hudson series chipset, and completed installation with a SATA optical drive. It is a bad idea to install Windows 2000 on AHCI storage devices, because you have to install all drivers you need again after updating UEFI BIOS. Fortunately, I installed Windows 2000 SP3 on an 80GB IDE hard drive with a converter adapter, and I selected IDE mode to prevent Windows 10 crash on start up. The formatting tool included in Windows 2000 SP3 is not reliable. Because Windows 10 can't create the logical drive in an extended partition after creating a primary partition in FAT32 format, I used the formatting tool included in W2K instead during installation, but W2K disappeared after installation. Finally, I made Windows 10 create the logical drive with help from SPFDISK, and completed installation. After updating to Windows 2000 SP4 SRP1 and DirectX 9.0C (Feb 2010), I installed modded Catalyst 14.4 on Radeon R7 and it worked. Although D3D7 and hardware acceleration decoding may not work, I am satisfied. Thanks to BlackWingCat and many people who contributed their ideas and times. AMD USB 3.0 root hub does not work, so I think both BlackWingCat's Extended Core and complete replacement of USB driver are necessary.
  23. Hardware acceleration needed for D3D 9.0c and OpenGL is not available on Windows 98 with KernelEx. So I think it is impossible to run Dolphin on 98. In fact, Dolphin doesn't work on Windows 2000 if you don't install KEP and other utilities made by BWC. Although gCube 0.3(gCube_nodebug.exe) emulator works on 98, it is too immature and outdated. Old PCSX2 0.94 should work on 98 with KernelEx. Maybe someday old Dolphin 2.0 will run on 98 with KernelEx, but expecting latest Dolphin and PCSX2 to run on 98 is impractical.
