CyberLink and Corel decided to cease UHD Blu-ray playback features and corresponding online authentication in the latest version of PowerDVD 22, PowerDVD 365 and WinDVD UHD BD after October, 2023. https://www.cyberlink.com/support-center/faq/content?id=28347 https://kb.corel.com/en/129837 Bundled version of PowerDVD released after October 2023 also removed UHD Blu-ray playback features. https://jpn.pioneer/ja/pcperipherals/bdd/products/bdr-x13j-x/bundle/ PowerDVD 22 Ultra build 3214 is the last version to support UHD Blu-ray playback. But I want to make sure online SGX activation and the 1st initialization of the playback feature are still available, so I tried to install PowerDVD 22 Ultra build 3214 on my new PC in December 2023. Intel Core i5-10400 ASUS Rog Strix Z490-F Gaming BIOS 2801 (modified for SGX options required for Windows 10 x64 1607) Intel ME 14.1.70.2228v4 Chipset INF Utility (10.1.18793.8276) Intel Graphics DCH drivers (31.0.101.2111) Intel Network Adapter driver for Windows 10 (28.2) Intel Serial IO driver (30.100.2020.7) Intel Management Engine Interface driver (1937.14.0.1350, for DELL Vostro 3590) Intel SGX driver for Windows (2.15.100.4) The INF files of Intel Graphics DCH drivers and Intel Network Adapter driver require modification. Intel Management Engine Drivers 2141.15.0.2511 can not replace Dell's 1937.14.0.1350 because its INF files removes support for 10th Gen Intel Core processors including Comet Lake and Ice Lake. Intel stopped releasing non-DCH driver for Win 10 RS2 or earlier, so 1607 can not apply latest MEI and SGX patches. Besides, latest Intel Network Adapter driver 28.3 removes support for Windows 8. Intel ME 14.1.51.1528 results in choppy UHD Blu-ray playback with HDR over DisplayPort. Corel Ultra HD Blu-ray check tool 1.0.0.32 will stuck on SGX test, which means SGX is working. All offline tests passed after finishing online SGX activation and the 1st initialization of the UHDBD playback feature of PowerDVD 22. By using UEFITool, UEFITool NE and IFRExtractor to analyze Setup module in BIOS, I found that hidden SGX options like "Enabled" or "PRMRR Size" still exist. So I modified Setup module and AMITSESetupData module in BIOS, then I could enable SGX and set PRMRR size after running USB BIOS Flashback. The Q-Flash Plus on Gigabyte B560M D3H requires USB 3.0 flash drive. Although the USB BIOS Flashback on ASUS Rog Strix Z490-F Gaming is compatible with both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 flash drive, the function usually hangs with solid green light, so turning off PSU switch before running USB BIOS Flashback is the only one solution. Anyway, I am sure online SGX activation and the 1st initialization are still available in December 2023, and PowerDVD 22 Ultra build 3214 can play UHD Blu-ray discs with HDR over Displayport or without HDR over HDMI 1.4. But I think online SGX activation and the 1st initialization service can't last forever. Besides, finding reliable DP to HDMI active converter cable with HDR is another problem. I bought Lindy DP 1.2 to HDMI with HDR active converter, but I only got 4k 30Hz available and HDCP 2.2 test by PowerDVD 22 failed.

It seems that CU has nothing to do with installation of Microsoft Edge. When I tried to get game patch files which contain microsoftedgewebview2setup.exe, the installation files of Microsoft Edge were downloaded.

Since October, the cumulative update of 21H2 will install Edge and ignore DoNotUpdateToEdgeWithChromium. So I have to uninstall Edge after Patch Tuesday.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX error code 43 on Windows 10 version 1607
halohalo replied to halohalo's topic in Windows 10
Driver Release Branch 545 and later no longer support Version 1709 and earlier versions of Windows 10, so NVIDIA RTX and Quadro graphics cards will need INF modding. Besides, it seems that latest nvlddmkm.sys is still compatible with earlier versions of Windows 10. -
I don't use hybrid shutdown or hibernating, and I didn't encounter the problem in Windows 10 21H2. But it seems that installing different NVIDIA driver is helpful in Windows 11 when GPU temperature disappears. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/gpu-temperature-suddenly-missing-in-windows-11-task-manager-performance-left-side/587896

KB5000812 is the final security update for 1703 on Surface Hub, and MS released it on March 9, 2021. But you still can get other updates from WU.

You can check the end of servicing dates first. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/release-information -
KB4132216 causes failed installation/uninstallation of CU
halohalo replied to halohalo's topic in Windows 10
I don't understand why 21H2 ISO file offers incomplete Japanese IME. Anyway, the Japanese IME in 1607 ISO is compatible with version 21H2. Unlike version 1607, I can't stop BITS and WU from re-enabling by using Microsoft Management Console. -
KB4132216 causes failed installation/uninstallation of CU
halohalo replied to halohalo's topic in Windows 10
Latest CU KB5023697 removes support for Home edition, so it's time to upgrade to a newer version of Windows. -
Intel Xeon E 2300 series processors support SGX with SPS, but SPS does not provide PAVP. Tiger Lake-B desktop processors may support SGX with ME, but BIOS files for 500 series chipsets do not support SGX. Besides, ME firmware 15.0.10 and later removed iCLS and tcb. So Intel NUC 11 Extreme can't support UHDBD playback.

Starting with v5.5.2.1, the ITE Tech CIR driver pack removes old drivers so it is no longer compatible with 1607.

Win-10 home (max ram?) and is there a "win-10 optimization pack" ?
halohalo replied to Nomen's topic in Windows 10
If your desktop computer supports NVMe M.2 SSD, you don't need dual channel memory. -
Starting with 22.160.0, the Wi-Fi driver for AX201 no longer works in 1607. I've tried 22.160.0 and 22.170.0, but Device Manager reported error code 39.

OS and driver are different, so the solution will be different. -

Just use WinDbg. -
NVIDIA GeForce RTX error code 43 on Windows 10 version 1607
halohalo replied to halohalo's topic in Windows 10
Unlike 20 series and 16 series, you've proved that 30 series require version 1803 instead of 1709. By starting kernel mode debugging, you can find the hex value and create your solution. -

You have to debug the graphics driver and find out your answer. All I can say is that it is not as difficult as you think. -

If you want to install DCH driver on 1709, just modify the INF file. -
Intel SGX PSW 2.16.100.3 removes support for RS2 and before, so 2.15.100.4 is the last release that supports 1607. Besides, Intel Management Engine Drivers 2141.15.0.2511 is the last release that supports 1607, because 2216.16.0.2805 also removes support for RS2 and before. Therefore, Intel Lunar Lake processors only support PAVP on RS3 and above. Intel SGX Driver for Windows v2.15.100.4 https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/683952/intel-software-guard-extensions-intel-sgx-driver-and-data-center-attestation-primitives-intel-sgx-dcap.html Intel Management Engine Drivers v2141.15.0.2511 https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/682431/682437/intel-management-engine-drivers-for-windows-10-and-windows-11.html Bluetooth driver 22.130.0 and 22.140.0 trigger error code 37 on 1607. Fortunately, new Intel Graphics drivers such as 30.0.101.1191 fixed DirectX 12 support issue on 1607, but it seems that 30.0.101.1340 and 30.0.101.1404 have refresh rate and audio problems with PowerDVD 20.

KB5013942(cumulative update) won't finish but rolls back every time.
halohalo replied to forjonny's topic in Windows 10
If you can't install any CU on 21H2, you should try to find out the incompatible driver or hardware. If you can install old CU on 21H2, but you can't install KB5013942 because it rolls back, you can try KB5015020, which replaces KB5013942. -

halohalo replied to forjonny's topic in Windows 10
KB5013624 is not CU. Did you install any CU successfully on 21H2 before installing KB5013952? When WU is stuck at specific percentage, it will be helpful if you can describe the installation percentage. If you are using incompatible driver or hardware, you may install the OS, but WU will fail with rollback. -

NVIDIA GeForce RTX error code 43 on Windows 10 version 1607
halohalo replied to halohalo's topic in Windows 10
I updated to 512.78. The DCH display driver package contains NVIDIA Control Panel application. To launch DCH version of NVIDIA Control Panel for the first time, Internet connection is required, and WU, Windows License Manager Service, and Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant should be enabled. I don't know how to install standard NVIDIA Control Panel and Container along with DCH display driver. The standard NVIDIA Control Panel is still compatible with DCH driver, so users of non-DCH driver can launch standard NVIDIA Control Panel from Windows Control Panel. -
NVIDIA GeForce RTX error code 43 on Windows 10 version 1607
halohalo replied to halohalo's topic in Windows 10
Starting from R495, NVIDIA no longer provides non-DCH drivers. The minimum version supported is 1607.
