  1. Thanks for the replies, @Martin L That's a good excuse if I get pulled over by the UK police for overtaking, "Sorry officer I thought I was in Germany, jet lag an' all", doubt it would work @utw-Mephisto Thanks for your informative reply. It would be nice to get the health insurance for free but I have also read that the health care is good in Germany so if it is there when I need it, it is money well spent. You don't seem to get anything here for your money unless its an emergency, Opticians, Dentists sorry pay for them yourselves, unless you're on the dole 'cos your to lazy to find a job then we'll pay for everything </mini rant>. I will PM you sometime and maybe chat on MSN after that, I won't pester you with info I can find on the internet. @TAIN I have started to use Rosetta and when you see the words you can hazard a guess at the meaning but audio is a different matter. I am resigned to learning the language by watching as much German pron as required no matter the content, I may end up like John Candy in Splash
  2. Place your key file in the same dir as the msi and it will automatically add it.
  3. You need to add OemPreinstall=Yes to your sif file under the [unattended] section. If you do this I think\not sure that the F6 option to load RAID\SATA drivers during setup is unavailable. I have mine slipstreamed so I don't need that option. From ref.chm
  4. I maybe going to work in Germany, (Güntersthal) and was wondering if anyone had done something similar. I am interested in the differences between the cultures and things like cost of living, TAX, health benefits, things that are going to differ from the UK. I am trawling the web but a condensed version of peoples experiences would help. I won't be going for another 12 - 18 months but the more I find out it will equip me to make a better decision when the time comes, I will also take the time to try and learn the language, currently trying Rosetta Stone but if anyone has tried\used any other software successfully I would appreciate a heads up. Thanks
  5. For question #5 look here @ cancerface's excellent user creation tool
  6. I have wrote and tried this and it works at present, if the URLs change it will need to be updated. It may help you with yours. avg.au3
  7. @Acheron Seems like a lot of work instead of editing the Inno script, I suppose it saves time checking for differences with new version. I am in the middle of creating a new script at the mo. You probably know this with creating your Nero Inno but if you are having to delete the start menu folder after, the noicons switch isn't working it has to be allowed by the script writer. You can also just specify certain tasks and it would save you having to delete the Desktop and Quick launch icons. I to cannot get the Firefox option to be enabled but all it does is copy a text file to your FF profile dir which points to the Orbit dir. You can also edit the conf.dat to add FF click monitoring by adding bSupportFireFox=1 to the Monitoring section.
  8. If you "plonk" it in $OEM$\$Progs\Messenger, Windows setup will copy it there for you.
  9. Why is the msmsgs file constantly updated?. To obtain the file originally I updated via WU and kept that exe, the hashes are different but the mod date\time is only 4 minutes apart. I think WU only checks for the existance of the correct exe version, when messing & trying to find the reg key to hide the update it kept showing up whilst I deleted each registry entry created and every file that got updated until I was left with the main exe.
  10. Hi Shark Yes I do use Ryan's pack, I haven't noticed any problems in setuperr.log or in normal running. I have msmsgs = Off in my sif file so it wouldn't get installed anyway. The one in Ryan's pack is the same one I use so maybe that's another reason that there do not seem to be any errors.
  11. If your copying the edb file C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\DataStore.edb If your copying the msmsgs C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe I think it would be easier copying the msmsgs file, unsure if the edb file changes with new updates.
  12. I couldn't find a reg tweak either, the only thing I got to work was just copy the msmsgs.exe via $OEM$, or you could just hide the update and backup the DataStore.edb file. I think that stores the info about updates.
  13. You can already do that, just pass the filenames seperated by a space to cbin.exe
  14. Here is an example of an the Inno setup script I use. It installs with the /verysilent switch and the default TV format is PAL. There are no dialog box prompts, no explorer windows and the program doesn't start after install. ConvertXToDVD.iss
  15. What are the applications\installer types? some applications even thought they use installers only extract the files to a directory and the settings are added the first time the exe runs, these can be repackaged using WinRAR or Inno setup, other installers come with command line options like msi, Inno, InstallShield, NSIS etc.
  16. I am trying to install Office 2003 as part of an unattended disc and I am having a problem. I have created an mst file that only installs Excel, I have also created an XPlode xml that offers a selection of Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher and Word this I have done by creating cmw files, the problem is that although I can get the cmw files to install from a mapped drive without errors when I try to use a CD\DVD to load on computers that are not currently networked the installer asks for the Office 2003 disc., The Excel.mst installs correctly Does anybody know of a solution to this problem, I have checked the log file and can only find MSI (s) (DC:80) [22:30:29:921]: Note: 1: 1729 MSI (s) (DC:80) [22:30:29:921]: Product: Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 -- Configuration failed. I thought it maybe to do with the path to the msi in the cmw file but as mentioned before they install OK from hard disk even though the original path specified doesn't exist anymore.
  17. I use Kaspersky, I don't know if it would work out cheaper but Steganos Antivirus is I think just a re-branded Kaspersky but slightly cheaper.
  18. If you try to extract the exe with innounp it asks for a password, that is the one that is being requested.
  19. Sure, no problem. Like most installers the Installshield ones can be run with various switches, there is a list of switches here. To run the PowerDVD installer you can use setup.exe -s -f2C:\powerdvd.log providing the iss file is in the same dir as the setup.exe, you have to specify the location of the log file if the installer is running from a CD\DVD as it is written to the same directory as the installer, so it will fail as it cannot be created on the CD\DVD. If you don't want to use the iss method you can also try editing the custom.ini file in the main dir and add the Silent=1 [PowerDVD Ultra] DX9=1 Silent=1 this will run the installer and only show a cancel dialog for a few seconds as the files extract, to stop the readme file opening delete the readme folder in the version of PowerDVD that gets installed on your machine, mine is PDVDBD, I have tried this and it works for me.
  20. These were just configs Wraith made up or uses himself and they are there as examples of the Selected Install plugin. You could add the name of your computer or your own configs like Testing or minimal so that when the XPlode dialog appears you can select a certain configuration. For example you have X number of computers called ComputerX, by default when XPlode loads if <config>#COMPUTERNAME#</config> was specified first in the configs list it would run the programs associated with the corresponding tags configs='ComputerX'> which would be the current computer. You could also have a config called "Testing", this may be a default setup with no applications or tweaks installed so that you can test installations or scripts to see if they work before trying them in the real world. When XPlode runs you could select "Testing" from the drop down list and load the associated tweaks, programs or settings to install (if any) that are for that particular install. Hope this helps.
  21. AdminStudio 8 Standard $1,999.00 US AdminStudio 8 Professional $4,999.00 US AdminStudio 8 Enterprise $8,999.00 US There is a reason not everyone has access to this program and why i suggest Orca. shark True, which is why I gave him access to my company's Standard version by giving him the property values, my post wasn't meant to be cocky just informative, no need to be snappy </interest>
  22. That is what thought. Since I do not see a property for license # and product # for quickbooks.msi(2007) I guess I'll have to write a script. Thanks You shouldn't have to write a script, if you use InstallShield Admin Studio you can goto User Interface - Dialogs and find the dialog that has the input for the license # and product #. It is the Enter Key Code dialog, the properties are QB_LICENSENUM and QB_PRODUCTNUM, so you could run the msi with msiexec /i "path to quickbooks.msi" QB_LICENSENUM=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxx QB_PRODUCTNUM=xxx-xxx and the codes should be inputted for you, not all the property values needed for the install are set in the propertys page. you could also edit the msi file and create a transform file. I don't know if this is possible with ORCA as I have never used it.
  23. I have updated the runavp script to set the destination folder for the database to one up from the script directory instead of reading the location from the registry and updated my page 5 post with the download link.
