  1. im trying to make a silent install of WinAVI MP4 Converter. Im having problems trying to install it silently. the setup works fine but silently i get the same error returned. here is my bat file. start /wait winavi.exe /VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /NORESTART /SP- REGEDIT /s Winavi.reg EXIT the error that is returned is this. Runtime Error (at 1:41): Internal error: An attempt was made to expand the "app" constant before it was initialized. What can i do to fix this. If it cant be done with switches i guess i will just make a autoit script. Its a Inno setup if it helps.
  2. yup that was the problem got it working perfectly now.
  3. there are just different things you have to add to allow certain programs to work correctly but after everything is set correctly it is a great firewall. you can find you answers and get help here. http://forums.comodo.com/frequently_asked_...firewall-b32.0/
  4. if you would have to activate over the phone the best thing to say is replacing faulty hardware instead of upgrading for better stuff.
  5. what all have u removed.
  6. i have a problem. when i extract the installer with winrar i dont end up with a setup.exe. i get ctor.dll dotnetinstaller.exe ikernel.dll ikernel.rgs iscript.exe isprobe9x.tlb isprobent.tlb iuser.dll objectps.dll
  7. taskkill would work or u can just make an autoit script. taskkill is probley the easiest way and will hide the window.
  8. do u have the graphics acceleration turned up to full. right click desktop>properties then settings tab advanced>troubleshoot. if hardware acceleration not turned up then no games will run.
  9. for the drivers you can use the driver packs over at driverpacks.net or integrate the ones u need. as fo programs like office you can make a silent install of the programs that you need there are many guides here on how to do so if you need any help with anything just let us know and we will try our best. use the search first tho.

Currently i have a Asus A8N-E Mobo with 2 GB G.Skill PC3200 with a Asus EN7600GT Silent and a Althon 3500+. im looking for a dual core. currently i manly use my system for surfing the net, listing to music, and watching/encoding videos. im going to purchase it from an online retailer. here is what newegg has http://tinyurl.com/yp7wve. but if you know of any retailers with a better deal please post a link. Edit Poll didnt show up. Im pretty much trying to figure out weather it better to go with a Opteron or X2

  20. i had looked throught the group policy's i am the only admin account on it becides the built in admin account which has not been used. i am also the only user on it and it is a fresh install as of saturday.
  21. as far as i know when using nlite to integrate hotfixes it will only update the corresponding files is the hotfix has a newer version of the file then the windows source.
  22. if you have now luck with microsoft. google is you friend. if you have to resort to finding an iso you self just be careful of what you grab. there is a lot of stuff out there that are fakes. your best bet is to try and find a untouched if you can out there. but hopefully there is something that can be done instead of taking the later route.
  23. with vlite you can remove all the stuff that you dont use in vista. some things that you dont use may have a service attached to them. the less services that need to be started when windows boots makes it boot faster. now the best way to get you system to boot faster/run smoother is to go in and disable all services you never use and set other services that you occasionally use to manual. the advantage of using vlite is that it removes bloat from both the dvd and a fresh install of vista giving you more room to work with. but i would suggest using vlite to remove all the stuff that is useless to you then when in vista change services to auto/manual/disable depending on how you need it. i had use vista but went back to xp till i can upgrade my computer. i dont remember how many services are running on a default install if xp but i have it down to about 25 services and 36 processes. but i know that there is a whole lot more services in vista that i would find useless. just experiment with tweaks and change all the services. and vlite will help with all the bloat. also you can integrate the newest hotfixes and drivers for your computer and save your self a bunch of time and remove more bloat. i am working a vlite dvd right now as i will be updateing my system in about a month. ive gotten all the bloat removed that i dont use (unless a newer vlite comes out that lets me remove more). i am also looking into tweaks and services in vista so i know now wat i need/dont need what i can tweak for better performance and anything else i can change for a better experience.
  24. well if he has a legit key and a coa i dont see how it could be illegal. i under stand that downloading a xp cd with out a coa would be illegal. i say if microsoft wont help you then the next best thing is to try and find a copy for your self. i had that problem before but luckly for me i was able to barrow a copy from my computer maintance class at school.
  25. you can download the drivers from dells site. use something like winrar or 7-zip to extract the exe. the drivers will be with what you extracted. then you can integrate those with vlite and not have to worry about installing after you get into vista. hope you can get everything worked out.
