Ok so i am currently in the process of setting up a samber server on Ubuntu 7.04, am also setting up the network accounts thingy so i can login to it over a network, now i need some help on the windows side of things. I want it to be like the setup they use at the schools and businesses, you know how you have to press alt, ctrl, del and put your details in then when you login and it gets all your files from the main serve (ubuntu) and stuff like that, how do i set it up in xp? thanks, paul

It does not detect it because it connects to the comm port, there is a little red light on the ir-receiver device that is always on aswell. Edit: How can i start the install new hardware wizard in windows xp home?

No Sp2 was in the package of windows home that i bort. i will try Dial-a-fix thanks for addvice Tarun! i will let you know how it all went.

Not shore because i scanned for viruses with avg 7, mcafee 2006. then scanned for spyware with, bazooka, Ad-Aware SE Personal, Spybot - Search & Destroy, ewido 4.0, and also done a cleanup with ccleaner! they only found a few bugs but nothing seriuos so i'm not shore realy?

What do u mean install window xp all together, wudent i just beable to download sp2 and install it? when i try to access the firewall via security center it gives me this message: Due to and unidentified programe, windows cannot display windows firewall settings Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) i cant find this.

No the cd key will be rejected and wont install, your best hope is if the windows home is still installed on the pc get a cd key grabber from the net and and will work, if it doesent work try a crack or serial site. but be carfull those kind of sites contain viruses and spyware if your going to go to one i recomend to update your anti-virus and have your firewall set to high! I do not take any responsability for viruses or spyware.

Hey is it possible to reinstall sp2, the reason is that the firewall cant open and it won't let me change settings.

Some time in 2004 I got my hands on a office pc specs were, 128 ram, 1.2 GHz Intel, 20gig hdd, don’t remember the mother bored( the mother board had died) the Hdd had no branding on it and the serial code is just zero's and it's really heavy and feels solid, no hdd programmes can get a clear name from the hdd and it has never had data corruption nor loss and has never crashed oh yeah did I mention it is pretty dam quiet even when scanning with an a.v, it sits in my old pc in my room that I use every now and then. P.s had bad luck with WD and only ever owned 1 Maxtor that also died within the first month owning it.

Yes i have had bad luck with maxtor and wd i have at least 10 wd's sitting in my cubbord ( all arround 40 gig) and there all screwed! so i just stay right a way from them i have on ever had one maxtor hd and it crashed in the first month so i backed up and replaced imeaditly!

lol guess what! Theres a password to access the settings on thewg602 v2 and i don't know what the password is becasue i got it second hand and the origonal owner was no help he has had it for a while and can't remember the password, i'm screwed pretty much. lol I'v thort about this and i'm going to try to reinstall the origanal firmware (if i can!) any way i'll let you guys know how it goes!. Edit: ok i don't know how to firmware upgrade with it lol.

Yes i have backed all my photos and music and anything eles inportent. I have also found a nice 200 gig hdd for cheap from a friend (it's new of cores) umm so yeah i'll let every one know how things go with it. The hdd hasent clicked or crashed for a good month now but i know it's on the way out, it has readings like a 56 raw error rate, it gets very hot on simple processing, and well that just says something!

i find that the SOHO-DH8P is alot faster and it copy's file alot faster aswell and it hasent caused any problems so far! so i think i might stick with it. p.s where can i get the Drivers & Utilities for the net gear wg602 v2 wireless access point? as i got one second hand w/o the box or cd.

Oh sorry i was in a bit of a hurry. when i start the network setup wizard i select this conputer connects directly to the internet and other computer connect throug this pc. and i click next it freezes for a second, then i select witch device i get my internet from i select the device, then it asks for witch device i want to network with, i select the correct device, and i turn on file and printer sharing, then it will start to configure then it will just stop and say it connot complete the network setup wizard. This is causing proplems with my pc. 1. i cannot connect to the internet on my other pc 2. the internet doesent always connect. 3. it has trouble sometimes finding other pc's on the network. so as you see i need a solution to this problem. p.s this is a link to the hubs information. http://www.weitronic.com.tw/Internet/HUBS/Web/SOHO-DH8P.htm

No the warranty peried was very stupid they only gave me a 1 year warranty and it has run out just a few months ago quit stupid i think. thanks for the prog i hope it helps.
