  1. It installs after fooling the installer into thinking it's running on Windows 10. Installed programs seem to function without issues at first glance without any workarounds. No luck running the installer on Windows 7. It wants SetCoalescableTimer function (Windows 8 and up), which I could redirect to SetTimer, but then the exception is thrown in msxml6.dll and I don't know how to proceed further.

  5. i've been using wumt since it was released as that has a simple disable auto updates setting. wum looks good, didn't know someone else had made one, seems like it's got a few more features but still nice and simple. wumt hasn't been updated since dec 2016 but still works.

  6. Well, time rolls on, and we've hit October, a Tuesday has appeared, and now a second Tuesday ... So what does Microsoft have for us today? Looking at the Windows Update Catalog, I find a few things: KB4459925 Oct 2018 Security and Quality Rollup for .NET Framework (with KB4457007 for .NET 2.0, KB4457019 for .NET 4.5, and KB4457016 for .NET 4.6) KB4462949 Oct 2018 Cumulative Seciurity Upgrade for IE 9 KB4463097 Oct 2018 Security and Monthly Quality Rollup for WS2008 KB4463104 Oct 2018 Security Only Quality Upgrade for WS2008 And no, I haven't gotten around to installing any of these yet. Maybe GreenHillManiac can shake a few more from the tree. Maybe MS will add a few more in the next several days, maybe pull one or two, maybe update the odd update or two without warning ... It's been known to happen --happened in fact just this past week with their Win 20 version 1809 release -- so giving things a couple days to settle down makes some sense. What's the worse that can happen? My Vista installation becomes technically obsolescent? Oh Golly.

  9. These updates are not yet ready for use by most users. They are not compatible with USP3, SE2ME, or UPXed files. Updating a previous KernelEx 4.5.x installation with just the new DLLs misses the registry and Core.ini changes that go with them. I am currently testing nine new files. (I am having no problems with .db files in any of many browsers.) Please do not create any more packages until I post these new files. This should be in the next few days. Then we can coordinate a full installation for limited (MSFN.org) release. I already have more API improvements for the following update. If I can also resolve the aforementioned compatibility issues, I'd like us to have a Release Candidate by the end of September and a Final for general distribution the first week of October. Until then, remember that currently this is not an open beta for just anyone to access and try. These update files are only for testing by registered members of MSFN.org who are interesting in helping me improve KernelEx. As previously discussed, no file attachments from this thread should be redistributed in any form on outside servers.
