@George King I cant remember all, what I changed. But it is much more than in your acpi.sys for XP SP2 bit64. Also I remember, that I use for compile 2 modified txt files (hacks from @Mov AX, 0xDEAD ), but you use only one of them. And you miss the important hack from Skull for wrong datatype Dietmar2 points

Mobile UI on desktop is horrible IMHO. If I want mobile version, I'll visit it on a smartphone, though I prefer the dedicated app there.1 point

This is not quite so easy. One thing in advance. The chrome folder and the UC.JS scripts have absolutely nothing to do with the legacy custom buttons. You have to install a legacy Custom Buttons extension in the Quantum browser Mypal 68 which supports natively webextensions only. To do this, the signature check of extensions must be switched off by a special hack, as most of all legacy Custom Buttons extensions are unsigned. The hack then has to be patched again , and a few prefs have to be set. Finally, you have to check whether your legacy Custom Buttons version can be installed at all and properly works under these conditions. All in all, not so easy as it may seem. Right? Furthermore, the code of custom buttons must of course be designed for Mypal 68 in such a way that it takes the newer JavaScript engine into account. Many (legacy) custom buttons that run in the UXP browsers therefore do not work in Mypal 68. And as you already know, even a custom button working in New Moon 28 does not necessarily run, for example, in Serpent 52. However, if all is done correctly, it should look like this way: This is a screenshot taken from the Add-ons Manager in Mypal 68.14.4b. All of these custom buttons are working fine in Mypal 68, and there are more, of course. It's just a test profile. BTW, three of these six custom buttons have been created by me and are also working in all my UXP browsers.1 point

The old Custom Buttons forum had gone long time ago. Personally, I have the most important things in my archive, which I have been maintaining for decades. So, I need practically nothing from the old forum although it is a great pity that it no longer exists. And you should also be aware that many old custom buttons are no longer compatible with newer Firefox or Firefox-based browser versions. And by that I also mean Firefox 52, which is the origin of many forks.1 point

Restart & Purge v2.0 - A custom button for restarting the browser and, if necessary, purging the startup cache, created by AstroSkipper Due to some abnormalities I observed when using my Restart & Purge custom button, I have now updated it to the version 2.0. I have changed and reworked the code considerably, and after a lot of testing, this updated custom button now works perfectly. One of the changes is that this new version of Restart & Purge now calls up the native restart code from the browser inside. The old version wasn't bad though, but the new one is definitely better and more compatible. I think there should no longer be any problems that could have occurred in very rare cases. Restart buttons are available in abundance and are nothing special. However, the most interesting feature of this custom button is the ability to purge the startup cache and restart the browser with one click. There are no corresponding extensions or functions with which the startup cache can be quickly deleted in the UXP browsers. In New Moon 28 not even the command line option -purgecaches works. So, an alternative way to delete the startup cache would therefore only be manually via the Windows Explorer or a file manager. My Restart & Purge v2.0 custom button performes a normal restart when left-clicked and additionally purges the startup cache when middle-clicked. Here is a small screenshot of my custom button Restart & Purge v2.0 and its tooltip taken from New Moon 28: As the code of Restart & Purge v2.0 has to be initialised, you won't find it in the tab "Code" but in the tab "Initialization code" of this custom button. Here is a screenshot of its code: And here is the download link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/1myts3tqkr6lgrv/Restart_%26_Purge_v2.0_10-12-24.xml/file The download link contains an XML backup file of the Restart & Purge v2.0 custom button as the problem with the conversion of custom buttons into XML format has been finally solved by me. Simply open the XML file in the browser and click onto the install button! For the installation of this button, the extension Custom Buttons is required which you can get from this post: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183923-extensions-and-custom-buttons-for-uxp-browsers-corrections-modifications-adjustments-and-special-recommendations/?do=findComment&comment=1226328 My custom button Restart & Purge v2.0 can be used with New Moon, Serpent, Firefox, even with the non-UXP browser Mypal 68 and some other browsers. And most probably also with Pale Moon and Basilisk (the call up of the native restart code should be the same as in the other browsers) which I can't test, though. Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper1 point

Yesterday, I found this old button code in my archive. As the code of the button looked promising, I translated it and modified it completely. I changed the tooltip, totally reworked the menu of the important about: pages and added a help menu. I created a version for New Moon/Pale Moon and a version for Serpent/Basilisk/Firefox as some about: pages are different in these browsers. This button has a special feature. When selecting a string or copying a string to the clipboard, a middle-click onto the toolvar button opens it in the about:config page. All in all, it's a kind of recycling of old code so that it works again in our browsers. Thus, old code is not always useless and lost. And the code of this button is so universal that it seems to run in all Firefox-based browsers. Anyway! I will also post this forked custom button here very soon.1 point

Personally, I use a much more recent Custom Buttons extension with a lot of additional features created by a well-known and very talented developer of custom buttons and extensions who was also very active in the old Custom Buttons forum that time. This Custom Buttons extension is of course particularly interesting for developers of custom buttons.1 point

I have unfortunately noticed that strangely enough, the interest in custom buttons does not seem to be particularly high here. Therefore my question to all users of UXP browsers is how you feel about the custom buttons and whether you use them at all. TBH, if there is no real interest though, I do not need to post more custom buttons here, either. Especially the ones I created or modified myself. Personally, I am a fan of the legacy custom buttons and try to use them as much as possible. They use much less resources and cause much less conflict than extensions. Therefore, in my browsers, additional functions are first provided by custom buttons and only then the still missing ones by extensions.1 point

@George King I just compare your acpi.sys for XP SP2 bit64 with mine. It is very much different. Did you compile it for yourself? I add the Win10 fake and also the modifications from @Mov AX, 0xDEAD from January 2023. Also I add the hack for wrong data type (thanks to Skull) and for the unknown symbols in AMLILoadDDB Dietmar1 point

@George King Send me an acpi.sys from you of each version. I will check Dietmar1 point

BTW, the development of MHC-HC is ruined, by my personal opinion, the author gets vision problems, with each and every new version, it gets brighter, more contrast, etc.1 point

Can you define, what do you mean under "work", without going into deep technical analysis and speculation. Do you mean a simple playback, or HARDWARE accelerated GPU processing?1 point
-
Maxed out CPU means you have no HARDWARE acceleration at work. G610 doesn't support accelerating of HEVC. Plain and simple. "The GT 610 is VERY old (2012) and will not support hardware decode or encode of x265 (HEVC) at all, and x264 support may well be somewhat limited compared to more modern cards. It corresponds to Nvidia Purevideo 5" https://superuser.com/questions/1846015/using-low-end-nvidia-gt-610-gpu-with-ffmpeg-and-linux-ryzen-56001 point

Where do you see "a foreign legion or Lebanese green beret (LAF) wannabes" on this website? For those who never heard before- LAF is Lebanese Armed Forces https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lebanese_Armed_Forces. If this is some sort of your anti-semitic jokes/trolling, stop. People will help only those who behave properly and respectfully. So far, you didn't even thank me for pointing you out to the right direction regarding Bluray/DVD playback, for example.1 point

It can, if someone makes a mistake, or simply doesn't know what his OS real capabilities are, that user tried to run the player in DirectX11 mode, that is only Win8 and up, the player ignored that setting and switched off the acceleration completely, thus resulting in a poorer picture quality. The only thing that works on XP is DXVA version 1.0. Addition, obviously a DXVA supported GPU is needed, too!1 point

I'm chill and quite relaxed, thanks for your worries. I'm staying here seeking purely technological experience (which is getting harder and harder with each day), I don't want to discuss politics, off-topic matters, my personality, my posts from several years ago, rumours, etc, I don't want to be screamed at in CAPSLOCK. (against the rules!) That word wasn't quoted in your original post, so no. Also, I'm not interested in your opinion regarding the site moderation, besides, discussing it in public is indeed against the rules. I gave you a polite hint - I want to be left alone, yet you don't listen. I'm tired of your want-to-be-moderator fantasies. Let's ask @Tripredacus what "has to be" a violation or hasn't. Back on-topic: With your posts you give a very good example of how people shouldn't behave themselves when posting.1 point

Me posting in general or any other section doesn't automatically mean I'm aware of the whole topic/subject. I can reply to a post as if it was a standalone matter. You not even knowing those browsers' names kind of tells a lot. I remember you wrote you couldn't even access your utilities website with them, so what's the point? I didn't know messing with other people was allowed on the forum. I already got several stalkers/weirdos (check my account every minute), guess now I'll be adding someone who messes with me to the collection.1 point

All horses back! The download manager in Opera on my Android tablet shows a wrong file size. Now, I am back at my desktop computer, and the file size of FREEAV.exe matches nearly the one you posted: 93181864 B (88.9 MB). I already corrected my posts. So this time, we seem to get the same offline installer regardless of our location. Kindest regards, AstroSkipper1 point

I can remember very well. I checked my provided link some minutes before posting and the file FREEAV.exe has indeed the size of 93 88.9 MB. It seems to depend on the country from which you access the link. You know the proof is in the pudding. So, you can try to access the link with a German IP via VPN to check if the file size changes. I'll try to download the file with a Hellenic IP.1 point

There is a big difference whether there is an official warning, such as that from the BSI, for a programme or not. Such official warnings do not exist for Malwarebytes, Panda and AVG, but they do for Kaspersky. Any turning off features changes nothing at all. TBH, such an official warning says it all. And finally stop with your anti- and pro-categories in this thread! That has no place here.1 point
