  3. @AstroSkipper Not necessarily applying to this particular product (Vir.it), but being well known or popular is not always a proxi for anything but being well known or popular, and definitely not for quality or convenience. As an example, take DMDE (which I actually personally recommend[1]) as a program for data recovery, try finding it searching for a data recovery program, you will find that Recuva, Easeus and Wondershare are far more well known and popular, yet they - in the best case (if/when they work at all) - offer a fraction of the capabilities of DMDE. jaclaz [1] but that D.Draker cannot use because the programmer is Russian

  4. I don't know why people get afraid to use antivirus from other countries. After cloud scanning was invented all you do is chose which country you want to give your data to. Do you trust your government ? Antivirus Cloud scanning was resumed by ESET 5 help file I quote: That was back when there were still honest companies that admitted that cloud scanning really doesn't boost your security. It's like the issue with Tiktok. The reason US government fears users leave Facebook and other US based Social media is because they want your data. Please don't give it to China. Give it to us instead. https://www.howtogeek.com/540658/is-your-antivirus-really-spying-on-you/

  6. That was my mistake. Other forum member(s) were asking about Thorium, I did a 10-second Google, and posted the link. I've never actually tried Thorium. I do not, never have, and never will condone the use of "warez".

  7. ADHD is an issue I deal with on a daily basis. It's the feeling of having everything to do and not enough time to do it, since now is the only time I can do anything.

  8. I didn't "recommend" anything. I only provided - when asked - a link to it: No personal experience with it, all I can say is that it is VB100 certified (whatever relevance this may have) with a grade of D: https://www.virusbulletin.com/vb100/testing/tgsoft/vir-it-explorer-pro https://www.virusbulletin.com/uploads/vb100/test-reports/vb100-test-report-2023-04-21-vir-it-explorer-pro.pdf jaclaz

  9. I am very thankful to see WiseVector StopX as abandoned. I tried this one a few months ago and was hit with at least half a dozen false positives. I do admit that my only method of verifying if a hit was positive or false positive was by using free online scanners and also uploading to my Google Drive account because it scans everything before re-downloading. I wonder if your guide/thread can include recommended/suggested "online scanners"? Not an extensive list, just some sort of "honorable mention" online scanner.

  10. I spoke too soon in comparing LTSB 2016 to LTSC 2021. My 2016 is heavily tweaked and runs 29 versus 51 processes (76% increase), 288 versus 622 threads (116% increase), and 8766 versus 21581 handles (146% increase) that a temporary LTSC VM runs for testing purposes. 2016 on the left, 2021 on the right. A fairer comparison will be after heavily tweaking 2021.

  12. Now my installers works for any OS from 2000 to 7 SP1. Download your from https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsVjtW11rJfA3FQANrgg_QXRMgfx?e=lCF2lV and run it (follow eventual prompts). It restores WU, MU and AU (including website on Vista and 7). Notes: 1)On Windows 2000, you need SP3 or SP4 and IE6 installed before you run this 2)On Windows XP RTM, SP1, SP2 AU doesn't work if MU is enabled (unsolvable) 3)On Windows Vista and 7 already used installations run the fix before installing 4)On Windows 7 SP1 error 0x8007000A is related to wuaueng.dll and cannot be solved. If you have it, install SHA-2 support 5)The installer can be run multiple times if you need
