  1. I've been delving into the world of Windows 8.0 hotfixes, which basically are updates that fix very specific issues that Microsoft didn't issue in Windows Update, that got released in the timeframe of 8.0's release up until the beggining of 2016, and I discovered a very interesting one: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2929742 Lol, gramatical error on a KB article Anyway, if you apply this hotfix and put a registry key that they describe in the article you could reenable verbose BSOD just like in Windows 7 and earlier! This hotfix also exists for 8.1, but got bundled in a security update that was released in Windows Update, so everybody running 8.1 already has this possibility.

  3. Wow! Cool work you do, thank you very much for it, it would be very cool to get a web browser Chromium 54 and higher on NT 4.0 or even Windows Sidebar from Vista

  4. Hi all. Sorry for the inactivity here lately, I've had a lot going on IRL lately and haven't had time to update the list until now. Thank you for fixing it for older OSes (especially Vista)! Added to the list. Thanks for another detailed & informative post as usual, VistaLover Unfortunately this comes at no surprise to me as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware dropped support for Windows Vista (and XP) not too long ago, see here: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/191650-malwarebytes-3-frequently-asked-questions/?tab=comments#comment-1243649 I'd say it's only a matter of time before the rest of Malwarebytes' software (such as Chameleon) drops support as well Thanks! Added to the list

  7. It may well look as if Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (MBAE) 1.12.1.90 be the last version to run on Windows Vista SP2; this was reported by a Vista user on their forum, several hours ago ; MBAE is a perpetual beta free software with all premium features turned ON for volunteers/testers; the new auto-update to v1.12.1.97 brought with it, alongside several serious issues with Chromium-based browsers on Win7+), loss of functionality on the Vista OS (XP too?), because of new functions missing in Vista's kernel32.dll Version 1.12.1.90 can be fetched navigating to vendor's official page here ; in the event that page changes, direct link to the setup is https://malwarebytes.box.com/s/hrxfh20wtbre7tfaimf56i5chlodia4z Special provision has to be taken not to trigger auto-update to the non-compatible 1.12.1.97 version, see: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/malwarebytes-anti-exploit.354641/page-152#post-2770670 (courtesy of MSFN member @Sampei.Nihira)

  8. Auto Screen Capture supposedly needs at least Windows 8. It turned out that application doesn't depend on anything that only newer systems have. Here's the fixed version that will happily run on XP/Vista/7 (.NET Framework 4.0 required). These were required code changes.

  9. According to this PAs.com comment : Electron framework requires Win7+ by definition ... and according to that thread, further code was removed by M$, hindering considerably stealth portabilisation of Skype 8 even on electron compatible OSes Nice find, many thanks!
