DigeratiPrime Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 A uxtheme patch is now availiable for Vista RTM here:http://anti-tgtsoft.com/repository/uxtheme...ws%20Vista/SP0/Below is the included instructions for 'installing' the patch. I've added a note between #3 and #4 to better explain the process. WRP (Windows Resource Protection) made things more complicated.1. Login as a user with Administrative privileges.2. Navigate to %systemroot%\System323. Right-click uxtheme.dll and click properties.* Security>Advanced>Owner>Edit>'Change owner to' your group/user.4. Take ownership of the file and close dialogs.5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for themeui.dll and shsvcs.dll6. Right-click uxtheme.dll and click properties.7. Give yourself (or group) Full Control permissions and close dialogs.8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for themeui.dll and shsvcs.dll.9. Rename uxtheme.dll to uxtheme.old.10. Rename themeui.dll to themeui.old.11. Rename shsvcs.dll to shsvcs.old.12. Copy patched files into %systemroot%\System3213. Reboot (yes, this is really required)14. Enjoy!First thing I did was remove the 'glare' from the windows. I used ResHack to 'Save all resources' I then fixed the file extensions to PNG using AntRenamer.I edited the 'STREAM' resource in Photoshop and just deleted the glare part from the png and went back in ResHack and replaced it. Here is the difference:
Eck Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 As another choice for Vista theming, Stardock Object Desktop subscribers can now use the latest beta version of WindowBlinds on Windows Vista. This opens up the whole library of WindowBlinds to use on Vista! Heck, how about running a Vista that looks like Windows 3.1? Fun.Not sure about the rest of the Object Desktop programs yet, but at least WindowBlinds will work for now.
piXelatedEmpire Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 So what does this do?allows unsigned themes

neo Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 What do you think about VistaGlazz - Beyond a single clickMicrosoft released Windows Vista. A new operating system in the Windows Family in which some parts have been rebuilt from scratch. Quite noticeable to new users is the Windows Aero interface. Just like the Windows XP styling system it has some limitations. VistaGlazz provides a user friendly workaround.Transparency stays when maximizedIf your video hardware is DX9 certified and Windows Aero is activated Patch Themeyou’ll notice the new transparency look. Normally in Windows Vista, the transparency only lasts until you maximize a window. VistaGlazz ensures transparency, even when your windows are maximized.Custom visual stylesThe new Desktop Windows Manager (WDM) in Windows Vista only allows Patch system visual styles signed by Microsoft. Windows XP contained a similar protection which was patched by the UxTheme Patcher. VistaGlazz delivers the same patch to Windows Vista, allowing you to use your own visual styles.Source: CodeGazerDownload: VistaGlazz v1.0
