So you had enough patience and time to download Vista RC1.

It would be interesting to know wich games or software actually works in this release. So feel free to post your experiences here.

Try to keep this simple. Exemple:

Software X = Not working : Comment

Game X = Working : Comment

Sorry that i can't post any of my experiences because i don't have it right now.

P.S: PLZ don't post Vista's integrated stuff.

AIM 5.9 works fine, my friends showed up online and convos worked fine

nLite works fine, no problems

Nero 7.0 works just fine too, had a few burner problems, but XP did it too

Winamp works fine, works fine, my sound kept causing bluescreens though

iTunes works fine, works fine, my sound kept causing bluescreens though

SmartFTP works fine, no problems what so ever.

this was as of vista 5536, so it was Pre-RC1, but i don't see why they won't work with RC-1.

Installed RC1 yesterday.

Winrar = OK. Just as in XP.

Nero 7 = OK. Custom install, Nero Express and Nero Burning ROM only.

CounterStrike 1.6 = OK. Slight improvement over XP.

CounterStrike Source = OK. Didn't notice any difference over XP.

Office 2003 = OK. Opens up more quickly than in XP.

ACDSee 8 Pro = OK. Custom install, left out "Device Detection". Although presented with a number of pop-ups

regarding compatibility, it runs exactly as it does in XP.

Total Commander = OK. Same as in XP.

Technisat Utility = NOT OK. It checks for WMP 9 or higher but doesn't recognise version 11, install fails.

Technisat, please read and do something about it!

ProgDVB = NOT OK, but it's mostly due to the fact that Technisat Utility didn't install.

Serious Sam2 = OK. Ran it from a DVD even!

Zuma Deluxe = OK. Started faster than in XP.

Commandos Strike Force = OK. No difference over XP.

Sniper Elite = OK. Same as above.

Red Alert 2 = Ok. Same as above.

Hoyle Board Games 2005 = OK. Slightly disrupted until installed lastest forceware from nVIDIA.

ARCGis 9 = OK. All programs in the package went smoothly.

Mozilla Thunderbird = OK. Same experience as in XP.

Mozilla Firefox = OK. Same as above.

BSPlayer (free version) = OK-ish. Sometimes doesn't show any picture on the screen, must be restarted.

FFDShow = OK. It does its job like in XP.

nVIDIA Pure Video Decoder = OK. Didn't notice any difference over XP.

Yahoo messenger 8 = OK. Same as in XP.

That's about all the programs I managed to install and test so far, will carry on when I get back home (am at work now).

Regards,

nitro

This entry shall enable all ieXwiki members to list bugs found in Vista RC1 (Build 5600), and for other members to comment on fixes, workaround and causes.

Why would we bother looking around in ANOTHER forum when we have everything here???? And we can test it ourselves! Or you reckon we are less skilled than people posting on those forums? McoreD, should we need info from other groups, we know where to find them. MSFN Forums is here for all of us to share OUR OWN experiences. Please bare that in mind. Sorry if I sound harsh, but I just LOVE msfn

@nitroshift, that's doesn't sound harsh, don't worry. I get your point. To answer your question - why bother? To save time re-inventing the wheel. If a software is tested to be working by an ieXbeta member, it *will* work for an MSFN member too, or do you think it will not?
Or you reckon we are less skilled than people posting on those forums?

I don't beleive I mentioned anything which implies that. All I suggested was to make use of what we already have, build & expand knowledgebase upon that, and thus spend time effectively. :)

Hmm... Good idea, but I can't link to the links provided.

So, since you sem to be able to, is there any info on the starforce protection used on some of Ubisoft's games?

FileZilla = WORKS: No difference to XP

QIP = OK: Needs flash installed, or it will bring up an error on exit

World of Warcraft = OK, but worse performance than in XP, I think that's caused by the Catalyst Driver.

Logitech Setpoint = Not fully working : I used the WinXP x64 version and everything except the volume control runs.

ATI Traytools: Doesnt work, shows an error.

RivaTuner: Doesnt work,Ran once, now says its missing a DLL file.

nLite Addon Maker: Works,Required running as Admin.

PE Builder: Works, needs to run as Admin.

I'll add more later.

Hmmm, I've seen that site before. I'm not so sure the lists are 100% accurate. I have some of the things they say are working but they aren't working well. I also have some things that are shown as not working but they are working fine for me. All in All though the site is a good source of info.
