tain
When did you get the message? During setup? Playing a game? Something else?Have you tried rebuilding the VM? It will probably be easier/faster than chasing this error down :/
janus zeal
Im not sure what OS your on, but windows 2000 has a new service pack (sp4)i would just recreate the VM.
RBCC
I got the message right before the gui portion of XP Service Pack 2 setup. I even recreated it and the same thing happened!John
Kramy
Im not sure what OS your on, but windows 2000 has a new service pack (sp4)i would just recreate the VM.It's only natural that Windows XP has a Win2k.sys. I mean, why else would my Windows 2000 have a MSDOS.sys? Edit: Don't have XP, so can't help with that. Did you nLite anything or use HFCLEANUP? Electrician
Are you using a SATA (or scsi) drive, and did you use F6 to install drivers for same?
RBCC
No, however I put my own icons in a shell32.dl_ modifype'd it and compression bin'd it, and put it into the fix folder, could this be it? John
fdv
Shootin' for the obvious, here.Check your original CD for scratches. Check your hotfixes to see that they are all valid.Check your hard drive for errors. This sounds like a corrupt file from a bad filecopy.
RBCC
I ran chkdsk /r /f on the drive where vmware is installed and where the iso is. I also checked the disk that the source is copyied from and there were a few surface level scratches but nothing that the cd-rw can't read and copy. I also downloaded the fixes from RyanVM's website RYanVM Updates 2.0.6 ect. I am in the middle of testing it. It still gave me the same error. Any ideas?John Edited June 3, 2006 by RBCC
tommyp
Make an ISO from the SOURCE folder and install that ISO. This will test for a bad filecopy. How much free space do you have on your machine running HFSLIP?
Kramy
No, however I put my own icons in a shell32.dl_ modifype'd it and compression bin'd it, and put it into the fix folder, could this be it? JohnExpand that file to .dll and open it in Resource Hacker. If you can't get at certain resources and some sort of "compressed file" message comes up, then it's probably corrupt and likely causing the problem.
