New G7 Color!

We've all seen pictures of the G7 in it's somewhat horrible green color, right?

This is what I'm talking about

Well... I just stopped by the local NCIX store, and they had the G7 for $69.99 CAD - so I figured, sure what the heck.

This is what I got - (the middle one)

I have the mx700, similar to the one on the right in your picture, but wireless... It craps out on me every once and a while... Still haven't figured out why... Interference caused by speaker frequencies maybe?

I'm doubting that you're getting interference from your speakers. The chances of them generating enough of a signal at exactly the frequency that your mouse runs at... I think you understand what I'm getting at. It'd be the same kind of argument as to why a wireless signal would cut out (and I haven't yet heard of speakers causing wifi dropouts).

When you say craps out - do you mean for a good while, or just for a second? I notice that when the batteries on the G7 are low, then it starts acting wierd.

It's just nice to not have a cord running across your desk. I've got a fairly deep desk, and having the cord reach towards where I sit would mean that it crosses about half of the desk. With a wireless mouse, there's no cord to deal with, and you can stash the base wherever you want.

Anyways... this thing is SUPER smooth. It took a second to get used to how little I have to try to move it while I was playing FarCry.

ive got a very small desk, its not even meant for a computer. with my lcd and the keyboard in front of it, i have ~2" . ide like to try out that mouse sometime but mine is great, i just wish the g7 had 2 thumb buttons.

Me 2, just don;t liek wireless mouse, and as i play games alot, wireless keyboard and mice arent good for that!

Also, i got the microsoft internet explorer 4a mouse, cost me £14 never spent more than £20 on a keyboard or mouse! lol

That middle mouse certainly does look nice, cant say i see the point in having all those buttons on it though, it only needs the 3 to point click and scroll.

I agree with maleko about wireless mouse, i was bought a very nice wireless keyboard and mouse for xmas, the keyboard works just fine without any problems but for playing games wireless mice are absolutely pathetic , they just arent fast enough or sensitive enough to keep up with the movements.

Nice set of mice you have there. When it comes to ergonomics MS IME 3.0 is one of the best mice ever made.

G7 seems ok, but two thumb buttons is a definitive must.

A slightly modified MX518 is the best mouse available today!

the middle buttons are to change the dpi on the fly, very nice for bf2, u can look in ur tank very fast or aim very good while ur a sniper.

Nice one ZXian...I have MX1000 black and I plan to buy myself a new mouse..

I must admit that MX1000 has the best look from Logitech's palette

I ment to buy G5 but then my friend bought Razer Copperhead and he had MX1000 also..He was full of impressions.

I play UT2004 most of the time so I'll go for a wired mouse since wireless has a bit of a lag..

By modified I mean that I've removed one of the springs for the scrollwheel in order to make it a bit easier to click.

I'm not sure, but it may also be possible to replace the smooth surface of the MX518 with the one from a MX500.

The side button can be used for 'back' in Windows explorer or any browser, and like ripken said, the two buttons on top are for changing the sensitivity.

As for all of you who say that there's lag with wireless mice - you should try this thing. There is ZERO lag - at least none as far as I can tell. I've been playing FarCry and CS and I haven't been doing any worse than before with my MX500.

As for the Intellimouse being the best erogonomics, it's alright, but I still prefer the Logitech design to the Intellimouse. There just isn't enough of a grip with the thumb on the intellimouse.

@DL - that's one mod that I wouldn't mind doing to the G7, but I'm afraid to take it apart...
