what OS are you running? it looks like Win2k. maybe even win98/Me

Google "tweakUI" and download the version for your version of windows, and on the control panel tab, UNcheck the add/remove that does NOT work ( if both work then i guess that it does not matter)

i would also check for viruses/spyware 2 add/remove programs cant be good :P

hope that helps

Is there any manual way

Both work fine

You have a duplicate APPWIZ.CPL. Go to windows\system, sort the files by Type, and look at all the .CPL files. Two of them will have exactly the same filesize and produce the same results if you right-click and choose Open with Control Panel. Delete one.

might be an idea to remove them both and extract a new copy via sfc.exe in case of viruses or something (kinda weird to end up with two)

You have a duplicate APPWIZ.CPL.

I was trying to hack few resources in this file and the program used for hacking made a backup copy of it in the same directory.

I removed the backup copy and the extra icon was gone.

Thanks for other tip regarding single dll file.

Actually i am applying hacks discovered and written in www.virtualplastic.net
