Difference Betwwen DVD-R and DVD+R

Recommended Posts

It's basically the fallout from two competing standards which got caught in the middle of a p***ing match between rival groups. Pretty much any modern DVD burner and DVD player should support both formats without issue. Older ones may only support one or the other, however. In that case, you'll want to check the documentation that came with the unit to see what it supports.

(And just for kicks, we get to repeat the entire process all over again with HDDVD vs. BluRay - goodie!)

Indeed, it was Pioneer (DVD-R) vs Sony (DVD+R)... Just for royalties of rights (Although Philips always has them)...
