hi everyone,i would like to know what the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R

I know it is positive and negative right??

but what is this negative and positive for?

the only big difference i've noticed between the two is that most of ur home dvd players won't DVD-R's... but pretty much all of them will play ur DVD+R's...

It's basically the fallout from two competing standards which got caught in the middle of a p***ing match between rival groups. Pretty much any modern DVD burner and DVD player should support both formats without issue. Older ones may only support one or the other, however. In that case, you'll want to check the documentation that came with the unit to see what it supports.

(And just for kicks, we get to repeat the entire process all over again with HDDVD vs. BluRay - goodie!)

Indeed, it was Pioneer (DVD-R) vs Sony (DVD+R)... Just for royalties of rights (Although Philips always has them)...
