do you have another admin account you can logon to?

if so then you can chance the local administrator pwd.

there are tools available to help you do this, try a google search--although anyone will probably cost a little money.

In the past I have used a product by active@.

yes, there are ways, but I am not sure if they are legal...

does the computer have a guest account?

or you could make a WinPE or a BART-PE cd, and boot with one of those, and get to the files through that, but if you do that, you won't have all your installs. That is, you won't be able to play games and such, but you will be able to see/open any files you wish...

I would recommend L0phtCrack 5.0. If the PW is SYSKEY encrypted it is my understanding thet you're basically screwed.

It is much easier to boot from a secondary media and reset the password than to recover the original one.
