Modified version of Google Pack Screensaver

Recommended Posts

Today I noticed Google had released its Google Pack. Most of the software included in that pack was already installed on my system (Firefox) or was simply unnecessary in my eyes (Ad-aware, Norton AV, etc.). Only one application (if you could name it that) could please me: Google Pack Screensaver. It creates a collage of pictures. I tried it and I really like it! Only one thing annoyed me: the Google logo in the upper right corner...

ResHack to the rescue! I've attached a modified version of the Google Pack Screensaver that does no longer have the Google logo. I don't think it's against the rules, or at least no more than the modified uxtheme.dll for example.

download

Just copy the file to %windir%\system32, right click it and install it. That way you won't need the Google Updater or anything else of the Google Pack if you don't want it.

P.S.: it also works superb on a dualscreen setup: it won't just clone! ;)

This collage slideshow looks great! How did you manage to remove the google logo? ;)

Dual monitor slide show will have to wait while I'll come @ work ;)

Right-click -> configure

Or configure it through Display Properties.

These are my settings for the screensaver:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Screen Saver.Slideshow]
"ImageDirectory"="D:\\_GUI\\wallpapers"
"PaintInterval"=dword:00000000
"ChangeInterval"=dword:00001770
"DisplayFilename"=dword:00000000
"MaxScreenPercent"=dword:00000064
"DisableTransitions"=dword:00000000
"AllowStretching"=dword:00000000
"AllowKeyboardControl"=dword:00000001
"MaxFailedFiles"=dword:000003e8
"MaxSuccessfulFiles"=dword:00010000
"MaxDirectories"=dword:000000c8

The ChangeInterval is 1 second.

The registry area you posted is for the Windows XP "My Pictures ScreenSaver"

1770 in hex is 6000 or 6 seconds :P

the Google one is located at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Picasa\GBScreensaver_d\Preferences

and the 107 and 2004 i was askin about was the Dialog resources in Resource hacker..

107 - the dialog that has the Login & Password.. which i was guessing for the password protect for screensavers.. but i can't get my password dialog to show up on any of my screensavers lol, so not sure about that one.

2004 - the one that has BurnIN, not sure what thats for..

thought at first i had screwed up the install and thats why they didn't show up.. but they don't show up on my other comp using your method. oh well i'm not complaining, still works like a charm :D

for anyone that wants it:

Registry Settings:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Picasa\GBScreensaver_d\Preferences

FolderList:

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\GBScreensaver\Prefs

folders are stored in the file savelist.xml

Cheers :thumbup
