BoardBabe Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I'm installing the latest K-lite mega codec pack, but it's not that good. I need support for real/qt and like the fact that they can play inn WMP10.Is there any better codec packs or is it best to install one by one codec?
rendrag Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 have you tried this:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...ed++codec++pack

Scubar Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 umm K-lite mega codec pack does contain the codecs needed to play Qt and RM files, if not use the media player of the gods, namely VLC
HybridShadow Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 I use XP Codec Packhas media player classic heaps of codecs and ive never had a problem with it

HybridShadow Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 VLC PlayerIts a stand alone player that has its own codecs built in it plays ANYTHING you throw at ithttp://www.videolan.org/vlc/
atomizer Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 these codec packs are a pain. i've had trouble with many of them, especially when encoding. i've used the XP Codec Pack, ffDshow, WM10Lite, xVID, etc.. now i'm back to using the K-Lite FULL (not MEGA) pack which has recently been updated. this allowed me to uninstall ALL other codec packs and seems to be working well... so far.
DeltaMax Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Try Storm Codec 5. It has all the codec you'll ever need.
Rodney Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 i dont do any encoding but the k-lite mega codec pack works great. very rarely though, qt files will display green instead of the video and a simple restart of media player classic will get them working again.
kashu Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 (edited) Try Satsuki Decoder Pack. I used to have k-lite pack but this one is smaller, he plays everything (qt,rm,avi,mkv,etc...), and doesn't use codecs, only filters. Edited August 23, 2005 by kashu

I am wondering if I get this or another decoder pack installed, do I need the application (qt / real) installed for the webbrowser to be able to do the streaming movies for quicktime and realplayer?
NeoDeath Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 (edited) FFDSHOW is only codec(pack) what you will ever need...http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm Edited August 24, 2005 by NeoDeath
matthewk Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 FFDSHOW is only codec(pack) what you will ever need...http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Well, I had been using ffdshow for some time now. I am confused with all this other talk. I downloaded the one that was above mentioned on the foreign site, but the file was corrupt. I am trying to do a WPI cd, and I want to make sure not to leave any importance out. What's the real deal on these codecs? Thanks
