The burning and ripping of mp3's is probably the worst I've encountered. Cd's burned are at different volume levels. Cd's ripped often have audio "burps" or "hiccups" near the end of the mp3s.

CdEx is far better for ripping mp3s.

i never had any problems on my system.

but to be honest i like musicmatch better when it comes to ripping also blaze is also another good ripping software.

I still buy cds all the time. And I rip my own because I'm picky on what quality audio I want (192kbps).

I agree. MusicMatch was my fave for ripping CDs and converting from audio-tapes to MP3. (not now, since I started liking winamp 5.x better)

Whatcha mean? They been saying that since a lot of time now, but it still hasn't died and I hope never dies. To be realistic, the root of the current problems at AOL-winamp is the exit of one of the lead devs.
