a few days ago @George King and I reviewed the Starter version of XP.
About unsupported status messages to turn it off.
Found in the xpsp2res.dll file.
I've been trying to fix winlogon.exe for many hours But it's not easy
and system audit
to welcome XP2ESD

I'm not good at fixing DLLs and EXEs

Symptoms remain the same

Is there anyone who is more talented than me?

I have tried it with winlogon.exe v5512 as I see more in IDA with this version instead of latest one.

I was thinking we can disable that Starter edition checking part.

@Dietmar Maybe you can find way how to disable Starter edition check?

@tpao12 AFAIK, the file winlogon.exe checks the integrity of ediskeer.dll. Using Google search engine, you can read everywhere that nobody has figured out (or published) any methods for patching ediskeer.dll on disk. Any changes in the file ediskeer.dll leads to the unsupported state error message. Generally, I wonder if there is any need of Windows XP Starter Edition in these days. The Starter Edition is just a stripped down version of Windows XP Home Edition which does not have such an integrity check. The user can transform the Starter Edition into a Home Edition by replacing some system files. That's what I know and read on Google results. Or a complete, fresh installation of the Home or Professional Edition. Anyway, that's what I would do if I were you.

winlogon.exe v6443 Is there a difference?

Yes, load 5512 and you can see more functions in human readable format instead of 6443

This post will be a thank you. @harkaz For the pdb file to the Debug DLL to solve the Starter version puzzle, all @George King checks are in progress.
I think it's also because of win32k.sys

Your pdb file will be the last option I think..

The current state of the Starter version is the last way I will do it. Run the component on the normal version.

It seems to work fine.

For anyone who wants to use Starter components. on Pro and Home
1.Insert starter CD.
2.Copy startoc.in_ from CD i386 to desktop.Expend it to get startoc.inf with winrar.
3.Copy startoc.inf to %windir%\inf.
4.Run rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\startoc.inf,Starter in cmd
5.When noticing lossing files,locate to CD:\CMPNENTS\STARTER\I386\STARTOC.CAB.
6.Reboot computer
