X99 board without PCI slot, PCI-E only, almost no HW device detection after PCI bus device addition - dead end? PCI is working, but..

When trying to download the drivers for the Soundcard from some "Dynamode" site, to see if it's actually a w9x-compatible driver, i caught a version where the readme.txt is actually an executable. Thank god i was using linux, so it just crashed because of lack of rights and wrong platform...  :blushing: ... Never let your guard down... (now, again, something to sink my forensic-teeth into...).

The soundcard... well, if LoneCrusader said it's fine, it is fine. The page where i found the driver is definitely fishy... or was pwned (just more likely). Just why someone put a trojan into a driver of such an obscure item, that goes just beyond me. On the other side, he had a near-hit with me...

For the soundcard, i think drivers will either be on an accompanying disk, or can be acquired directly from CMedia.

Ouch. Looks like you can never be too careful.
I used the driver CD that comes with the card. If need be I can upload the driver somewhere.
rloew mentioned a PCI card using this chipset to me before. The driver should be usable with a PCI-E version.

Do you have a confirmed link matching the driver from the CD that came with the sound card matching on the C-media site?  I don't think the main site carries the 9X/ME drivers anymore or maybe I missed it.

IS this SoundWave 5.1 PCI 9X/ME driver compatible?  Photo shows a PCI card.

These are all standard PCI objects. They should all be detected by PCI Bus.

Your Hard Drive Controller is set to AHCI.
I see two USB2 Controllers, a Video Card, and 7 Bridges that should be recognized.
There are a lot of items that will be reported as Unknown.

Its only second not used controller, i was just trying AHCI patch, i will write details to our patches thread.  Mistake only 1 controller.

So explain me why they arent recognized and i did at least 2 installations, so no some cosmic error, i also did hardware tree removal a redetection multiple times..

I only see one PCI/PCI-E Hard Disk Controller in your list. I see no IDE Mode Controllers anywhere.

The USB 2 Controllers will not be recognized by standard Windows 9x, you need to add the USB 2 Drivers first.
The Video Card would show up as standard VGA.
The Bridges should be visible as is.

If the Bridges are appearing with errors. let us know what the Error is.

Oh sorry too many machines, only 1 here, but i device manager i none, i never managed to detect it.

I never saw any device errors on this board, only "clean" device tree, if is not detected it cant report errors, no USB at all is correct..

   Standart VGA is detected ok.
Brigdes you can check pictures above only generic ones, no PCI BUS etc..

Don't confuse the SIIG card that I linked that uses the same chipset with the PCI-E card I linked before on eBay. They are not the same. I only said they have the same chipset so they should work with the same driver.

LoneCrusader, as well as the Trader, say/show a PCIe card. Technically, it's perfectly doable, so i'm waiting. I'll report.

Miscommunication created somehow above. The one on eBay is definitely PCI-E. :)

I split the posts concerning the X99 system from the Compatible Hardware thread and put them in this thread where they make more sense.

The Compatible Hardware thread is meant to be for confirmed hardware, not hardware under experimentation.

Let's try to keep on topic in different threads. :angel

You won't see the Hard Disk Controller without using the SATA Patch and the ATA0106.INF File.

There are no USB 1 Controllers, so you will not see any USB Devices until you add the USB 2 Drivers. Older systems had shared USB 1 and USB 2 Ports, newer ones don't.

Did it say "Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)" or "Standard VGA Display Adapter" or both?

How many Bridges do you see?

   Ok, thanks.

One card but its typical even on other boards, during installation is added Standart VGA adapter and after is detected PCI Graphics Adapter - first device could be removed.

Few minutes ago, its starting to detected devices.. But analysis why would be complicated for know..
I just migrated some storages (SATA II SSD for other experiments finally arrived ) so i just for fun tried boot AMD970 install on X99 and its detecting new hardware new..
I have new BIOS, because i have still 9xx MB RAM in all available OS i have received some beta Bios which had to fix it, it didnt but other this changed too.
I have copied LoneCrusaders inf files.. and got detection right after boot..

I will try my "proper " debugging 8GB SD card storage with clean install to verify where was a difference later..

Update: I even Geforce 7950GT finally started working, just detected and its running at least for 1st reboot..

Mixing systems again.
Don't expect me to debug it "just for fun".

I wrote that i tried it, before i will continue to use proper installation.. It was worth of try and was right it proved that it can somehow work. This machines is just for have to some between between suffering to make other machines to work with you patches, im sick of it and i not gave up.

but feel that i should now return you something acidic and write something about quality of your patches, but i will almost silent for now, i invested quite time to proof that clean system is not solution for lots of problems and patches use had lots of catches and hooks.. and its not about other cheap arguments like bad memory, bad storage etc..

Update:
- it wasnt Bios thing
- infs not helped detection too
- so use existing installation was best thing which i could to do, otherwise i would simply say that this board is no go

What is else on existing installation, it could be USP3 or something else. I have tried to install USP3, but i cant because of USP3 is using command.com and it means - black screen on my Geforce 7950GT, i have to try other GPU..
