In the Flash Player Settings Manager, it now says "The settings on this page are not applicable to Google Chrome or chromium-based browsers (PPAPI)" and I'm not getting the 'version image' from the page, http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/about/. Sadly, am not seeing an improvement over 11.2. I tried to update it about 7 years ago and the newer version was slow to the point of uselessness. So, here's me, stepping out again. Also, I have both 44 and 49 versions of chrome installed. Should I use the NPAPI or PPAPI? The folders you mention here (http://sdfox7.com/chromexp3.htm) are spelled slightly differently in my SP3. Another tell-tale I've screwed up? ~ Andy Edited October 16, 2018 by Andy Sethmaier

Another tell-tale I've screwed up? ~ Andy Andy What kind of machine are you attempting this on? The XP machine I use is a dual-core Core 2 Duo with 4GB RAM, relatively powerful for XP. If you are attempting this on a Pentium 4 or older, the performance is likely to be poor. The Internet of today has no mercy on single core machines, especially with Flash. As my page states, if you are using Chrome 44, you should use the NPAPI plug in. Due to changes in Chrome 45, you should use the PPAPI plug in for Chrome 45 and newer. This transition began back in January 2014 with Chrome 32. You can learn more about the NPAPI deprecation in Chrome 45 + here: The Chromium Projects: NPAPI deprecation: developer guide I have done this process successfully on many Windows XP machines. If it isn't working for you, you may need to review the steps to make sure you didn't miss anything.

Only 22.0.0.209 is recognized on either. Quote I have done this process successfully on many Windows XP machines. Only Windows Control Panel indicates it's installed. The old Firefox plugin is completely gone. The following probably partly explains why this didn't work: I can't find the folders you've indicated should be there. The post-install folders on my XP Pro, SP3 are very similar to the ones on your page but not quite the same. Like minus a sub-folder or two, for instance. This folder and file are there: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder. Right-click on the file called pepflashplayer32_31_0_0_122.dll" This "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\49.0.2623.112\PepperFlash" is missing. I got "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application" and dropped in the pepflashplayer.dll and manifest.json . sdfox7 Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 @Andy Sethmaier By the way, you don't need an "extension" to install Adobe Flash Player for Mozilla Firefox. Indeed, since Firefox support has been dropped for XP, I wouldn't count on extensions continuing to be made available. To install Flash Player for Firefox, simply download and run the NPAPI installer: https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player.exe

I wouldn't see why older versions wouldn't work.
