AnX
Just like POSReady 2009 updates ported to XP, I was wondering if Server 2008 updates can be ported to Vista. nboth have the same codebase, so why not?
Tripredacus
Do you have any specific updates in mind?
AnX
Mostly the ones that will be released for server 2008 after 2017. As of now its not really an issue.

Jody Thornton
A lot of Vista users seem to think that since Server 2008 R2 will receive extended phase updates until 2020 (since it shares the same codebase as Windows 7), that Server 2008 "Classic" will also get updates. Has this been officially spoken of somewhere? I would think that as of April 2017, Server 2008 users will need to migrate to R2, no? Cheers! jaclaz
And most probably in early 2020 the Server 2008 R2 users will be forced to update to Server 2012! The:Windows Server 2008 (original release date 06/05/2008)Windows Server 2008 R2 (original release date 22/10/2009)Windows 7 (original release date 22/10/2009) all three have the same extended support ending on 14/01/2020, as it can be verified here: http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/search?sort=PNα= And on the 10/01/2023 users of Server 2012 will be needing to upgrade to the whatever will be released as "server" correspondent to Windows 10 ... ... the suspense is killing me.... jaclaz
Jody Thornton
Well if Server 2008 "Classic" is getting updates, I might be able to stretch out Vista for a little longer if there is a source of patched updates. I really like my Vista system. I admit that I really loved Windows XP x64 Edition, and just to add salt to that wound...lol, there is a fellow who patches XP 64-bit Edition updates from Server 2003, so I could have stayed with XP x64 Edition in the end. However, that would have meant that in July, I would've had to migrate over to another OS. Whereas now that I've made the jump to Vista last year (Feb 2014), that is all behind me now.
