Tusticles
Amount of the blur can be controlled by ColorizationBlurBalance which is native DWM settings.I have not tried updating driver. I just tested disabling/re-enabling driver in Device Manager and it works correctly. The amount of blur in d3d can be changed in the current version(0.7) by modifying that reg entry or you will add it in the next version?--edit--Or you talk about win7? voom
for me 2D makes the frame slightly "flashy" - don't know how to describe the effect; 3D is perfect though (except 2nd monitor being opaque)
bigmuscle
Direct2D mode has absolutely no sense, it's additional layer which complicates everything. It must maintain many Direct2D objects, recreate buffers everytime you want to render blur effect etc. It is also 3x slower than Direct3D mode and not native at all. Also, at this time, Direct3D mode needs to be tested so there is no sense to keep Direct2D mode.

bigmuscle
MagicAndre1981: What do you mean by full glass? I don't see the point. In Direct3D mode you can get exactly the same look as in Direct2D mode by playing with the colorization settings. Or do I miss something?
MagicAndre1981
the problem is, that I don't know which colorization settings I have to change to get the same look. When I use the same values for D3D, I only see minimal blur.
adacom
as hard as i try with Direct3D i cannot get it as i want it as well - i know/understand that thats a theme thing - the theme i am using will not work in Direct3D - BUT it works for me so i continue with2D - i accept the arguments that 3D is better but if both can be incorporated then its a user choice - surely in the end having both modes will cause less hassle - yes put a heath warning that 3D is not as good as 2D and no support will be given - but leave it at that

But you can get nice results by playing with it. Also, the current blur effect is not the final appearance. It should have much more blur but if I use the blur weights from Win8 RP, I don't get the same result as it should be. I need to play with it more...
