You use the old boot. Have you disabled the new Win8 fastBoot?

I know that win8 fastboot is disable.... i don't know why it is disable.

how can i re-enable win8 fastboot? i go upload etl file and put the link here later.

you get some high CPU usage and the services SSDPSRV,

run this command to capture CPU profiling data

xbootmgr -trace boot -traceFlags BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER -stackwalk profile

The fastBoot depends on Hibernation. Have you disabled hibernation to free some space on your OCZ-VERTEX2? Also try to run the fastBoot command at the end.

No, i don't disable anything...

Maybe some program that I have installed have disabled hibernation ... is possible?

By default Windows should use the fastBoot if you simply click shutdown. When you use 3rd party tools, you must make sure they support the new FastStartUp.

The Firewall and Windows Defender cause a high CPU usage during boot.. Try a different Firewall/AV suite.

I'm sorry it took me a while to respond, I've been a bit busy. I've send you a link to a ETL file. The trace ran for about 130 seconds.

boot is ok (10s to UI and fully booted in 16s). Before you stopped the trace I see a high disk IO on the WD drive (skydrive syncs data on drive O:).

Office also syncs data and MSE scans the data. this seams to be too much stress for the WD green. I hate WD green drives because they cause hangs. reduce the IO activity for the WD green drive and also disable the Power saving for the HDD.

Ah yes, I have the drive mostly for backup purposes, but with one partition where skydrive syncs to, with the new office also syncing. Just curious though, should the same delay occur when I disconnect the drive? I did, and it did occur. I'll look into the power saving. I'm guessing it should help if I move the O: partition to the caviar black drive?

And just for my understanding of the traces: you mention activity before I stopped the trace, this is during the hanging or after?

I can't see see if you have a hang or not (not with the public version we have). I only saw a lot of DiskIO (caused by the syncs) at the end of the trace. So I think you stopped the trace after having the hangs.

I've taken a closer look to my caviar green drive, and it turns out it has bad sectors. So you were right abour a damaged HDD. I'm going to replace it with a non-green drive. Thanks for all your help

Edit: Or maybe not. Why are tools inconsistent on this matter? CrystalDiskInfo and Easeus partition manager gave 2 bad sectors (CrystalDisk via S.M.A.R.T., Easeus scanned the whole drive) and WD's own tool (scan) and the one I use before (S.M.A.R.T.) didn't.

I wonder if someone can help me.

I have slow hibernation on Windows 8. (Fastboot is also very slow)

Normal boot is good.

The problem is the XML doesn't show what exactly is loading so slowly.

Overall duration of hibernation and resume is 178 seconds.

Hiberread is 63 seconds.

I also measured the time with a stopwatch and the suspending took several seconds while after BIOS the whole resume took about 170 seconds (which adds up perfectly with the overall time of the XML)

In hybrid boot hiberread showed 77 seconds but overall resume was 109 seconds.

Should I add other attributes to the command?

reading the hibernation file is slow:

hiberread="63872000"

This takes 64s. Which HDD do you use? Do you sue a SSD? Does the SSD has the latest firmware.
