Nlite Errors Driving Me Crazy!

Hi:

I am having a problem with slipstreaming isssues with Nlite. I had already slipstreamed SP3 and was trying to slipstream some CAB files but I keep getting the same error message about a the same file every time I make an attempt. The file causing the problem is a CAB made from auslogics disk-defrag.exe, which is a mystery because I have sucessfully made a CAB from that software in the past but for some reason I keep getting the following messages that the file is corrupt etc.

I just downloaded a new copy of auslogics disk-defrag from Majorgeeks (6:00pm) and made a new CAB and I even used a fresh copy of the XP and I still got the same error messages.

NliteError1.jpg

NliteError2.jpg

NliteError3.jpg

NliteError4.jpg

Finally, I decided to just NOT to include the auslogic disk-defrag CAB at all. So, I started the CAB slipstream process with a fresh copy of XP Pro SP3 thinking that everything would be okay but I was wrong I got the error message again. Last but not least I tried a test slipstream with XP without One Piece v5.40 pack and I still got the same identical messages yet again.

Why is this happening?!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Last Session.ini would be helpful to reproduce the problem and help find a solution.

Finally, I decided to just NOT to include the auslogic disk-defrag CAB at all. So, I started the CAB slipstream process with a fresh copy of XP Pro SP3 thinking that everything would be okay but I was wrong I got the error message again.

That doesn't make sense. Either you still have the CAB in the list (like in the ini file you pasted) or your "fresh" source is not fresh. You say you slipstreamed SP3, was that on a fresh source? I mean really fresh. I mean ORIGINAL, MICROSOFT disk. If not, your SP3 is not fresh either.

Assuming it is a really fresh source as stated in #1 and assuming the error happens at T13 timeframe and most of add-on are already excluded and still get the same error message, then it would be useful to use procexp.exe (a sysinternals tool) to view any possible process that trigger this message. When you get the error message, just open up procexp.exe using shift+f10, and then type proxecp on the console. You would need to add procexp.exe using $oem$ folder first to add into nlite slipstream process.

It would be useful if you could repost your last session.ini after stripping all your add-on and still get the error message.

Ponch:

You're absolutely right it doesn't make sense but that's exactly what happened. Yes, the CAB file was included in the ini file that I pasted. The problem is that in my frustration I must have deleted the wrong folder that contained the output files that from the clean XP folder by mistake but I as I said that was a clean source.

Let me clarify. I have three versions of XP; one I slipstreamed SP3 using Ryan's Integrator, the second one I slipstreamed SP3 using Nlite and the the third is totally clean WITHOUT any slipstream additives ONLY SP2 which what is it's original format.

That original is the one I did the final slipstreaming attempt. Meaning that it ONLY had SP2 and those errors still occurred.

I have since deleted all the CAB files from my disc I even used Revo-Uninstaller to remove the installed Auslogics disk-defrag from my computer and then used registry mechanic to find any left over files and removed those too. I will add all the CAB files back except the Auslogics CAB files and I will use BB flash to record when I slipstream with Nlite. I

Silly question - what is the contents of the (any given - pick one) CAB file? Just the EXE???

Submix8c:

The contents of each CAB is the exe file with the entries file. I made all the CABs with NLAOM.

Geej:

Yes, it was a "fresh" source as mentioned in my reply to Ponch.

I think I understand how to access the procexp.exe if this error occurs again but I don't understand how to add it to the nlite slipstream process.

Anyway as I said I have deleted ALL CAB files even those that I didn't have problems with and I am starting fresh with all new files. I will write back and let everyone know whether or not this problem continues to happen and I WILL be extra careful and NOT delete the files by mistake again.

Thanks to everyone for your response to my dilemma.

I stand corrected, I do have a folder with the ini file that shows that I did NOT have Auslogics to be slipstreamed.

If I didn't mention it before this folder was a fresh copy that I slipstreamed SP3 into and then One Piece's Post SP3 Pack v5.40 and then the CAB files or at least the CAB files that slipstreamed. I know that the finished file size should have been a lot more than 901MB which is the size it was after the error messages meaning that the corrupted Auslogics or whatever the heck is going on prevented the slipstreaming some of the other CAB files. I have a Nero and VMware CABs and both of those are at least 300MB by themselves and that's not including the other 54 CABs. I the past the finished folder was around 1.38GB.

Here's the .ini file

Hi:

Just tried a slipstream again with a "fresh" source with the same errors yet again.

Geej I tried to do what you suggested with the procexp.exe. I hit the shift and the F10 key and nothing happened at all. There was no console no anything. Since I don't how to access procexp.exe I couldn't add it to the nlite process.

The following is my two latest attempts as you can see Auslogics isn't on the list and hasn't been added and yet I still got that same message. I have attached two swf files that I made with BBFlash to show what I did. The links expire March 1, 2012 as I only have a free account.

Is it possible that during the making of one of those cabs, you mistakenly inverted something and place a file from (/reference to) diskdefrag ?

I think this is the most probable cause of error.

@lapetite66, you can do the following to verify this.

Copy off svcpack.in_ from nlite slipstream process to some other location and expand the file to svcpack.inf

Then text search for 'auslogics disk-defrag' and see if it is in svcpack.inf

If it does, then one of your addon is causing the problem. It add an entry to svcpack.inf hence svcpack.inf is trying to run the program but is is not there.

Just curious, why some addon are label non-slient? You mean you have to click on it to install?

I would guess you are running nLite with a AV running...

I have always leave my Anti-Virus running and never had problems. I don't think the Anti-virus is what's causing the problem. I had a virus maybe a week ago and thought that everything was okay since the pieces of software I used (as suggested by the person helping me with the malware issue didn't find anything but I'm thinking that there is something still wrong. I say that because until recently I have NEVER] had a problem with Auslogics-Disk-Defrag and then out of the blue the file is suddenly corrupt and even when I download a new copy from the net and make a totally new CAB I still get the same error message. And worse still even when I DON'T have that CAB file in folder where all the other CABs are and don't slipstream it I still get the error as if the file is there when it isn't.

Just the other day SuperAntispyware found a virus in my System Volume and supposedly the issue was resolved but then it was supposed to have been resolved earlier.

I'm at a complete loss. If I can't get this resolved I'm going to have to reformat the drive.

I understand you wanting to keep your AV running, but it is ALWAYS recommended to temporarily disable any AV program while using nLite, RVMi, or any integration/system building program. Besides, it should make the integration go quicker anyway. If you want to feel safer, do a complete scan of your system, disconnect any "extra" drives that are not needed during your build, disconnect from the internet, then disable all your AV programs before beginning your build. Immediately afterwards you can restart your AV, rescan your system just to be sure, then reconnect to the internet and hook back up any drives that you had disconnected. I know you've always kept the AV running before, but at this point in your trials, since you're "at a complete loss", it won't hurt to try it this way at least once. If nothing else you will have eliminated the problem that many of us think you have and you can say "I tried that and it didn't help".

Also, since you say you removed the problem CAB and didn't try to slipstream it, try Geej's suggestion:

Copy off svcpack.in_ from nlite slipstream process to some other location and expand the file to svcpack.inf

Then text search for 'auslogics disk-defrag' and see if it is in svcpack.inf

If it does, then one of your addon is causing the problem. It add an entry to svcpack.inf hence svcpack.inf is trying to run the program but is is not there.

Cheers and Regards

As you haven't ran nLite without any cab file, we are still not 100% sure that it comes from the cabs. Only 99%.

Run nLite with only half of your cab files and if still same problem, run it with only the other half. So we get to 100%, and you can investigate the "bad" half with Geej method above.
