MagicAndre1981 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 @ricktendo64I tried it Online inside a VMinstall_wim_tweak.exe /o /c Microsoft-Hyper-V /rthe package was removed, but the VM addition drivers are still in the WinSxS folder. I also tried it with the message queuing client and the files are also in the WinSxs folder.@myselfidemit is the same with 1.4.6

Legolash2o Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 It used pkgmgr to remove the packages, it's that program that decides to leave the .mum/.cat files in there.@LegolashIf I use install_wim_tweak.exe /o to takewoner ship on my computer... How I can restore the default permissions? Now I can't remove WAIK 3.0 for windows 7!!! I must retore manually the permissions for system It automatically restores default permissions after its made the packages visible. Your problem may be because the 'Owners' key might have been deleted, there is a switch that prevents that but i cant remember what it is.
myselfidem Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 (edited) I haven't remove users (TrustedInstaller or System)! MagicAndre1981 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 ok, the files are now gone from the WinSxS folder. It took over 1 day I'll test it with a new VM again.
rorygilmore Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 so if I use this to remove a package on an image, will it remove the corresponding files from the WinSxS folder?
MagicAndre1981 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 the files are not removed from the image. This is done after the installation

MagicAndre1981 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 /o means online. The files are deleted if the PC is idle.
GrofLuigi Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 OK, a stupid newbie here. Removed too many of things on 7 SP1 online with install_wim_tweak.exe /o /c "packagename" /rNow there is BSOD on boot 0x12a - it cannot find licensed language packs.Of course, I suspect the following packages:Microsoft-Windows-Client-LanguagePack-Package-wrapper~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~en-US~6.1.7601.17514Microsoft-Windows-Client-LanguagePack-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~en-US~6.1.7601.17514Microsoft-Windows-Client-Refresh-LanguagePack-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~en-US~6.1.7601.17514I don't know if I removed all of them. I was so frustrated it didn't work (see observation below) that I tried multiple times with multiple things. What can I do to arrive to a desktop? System Restore is and was turned off.And an observation: This program didn't work until the services Volume Shadow Copy and MS Shadow Copy provider were started. For some reason, they couldn't start themselves. I waited for 16 hours. GL

MagicAndre1981 Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 I know it the blog. I wrote their comments too. I was confused that it took 1 day to delete the files.

probably can be better, but for now it's pretty good for my needs. Haven't tested it much, this install also goes to scrap because of unrelated issue.Multiple runs were needed, often with different chronological order of retries. And some restaring of VSS service and the computer.IE9 added some packages. Didn't touch them.Initial pre-install slimming was done with Windows 7 Toolkit 130-19A, but it also failed to remove some (many?) packages. I didn't count how many.GL
