Super-Magician Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Well, I'm finally back after a long hiatus. Is it better to use the standalone installer as listed on your update page or the file off Windows Update as seen here?
Tomcat76 Posted December 31, 2007 Author Posted December 31, 2007 I don't know. This thread was started because the standalone installer was offering the binaries from February 2007 while Windows Update wanted the ones from April 2007. But MS have now finally updated the standalone installer and this one is working fine (tested with English and Dutch sources), so it's your choice I guess. The only thing I find strange is that the English non-standalone installer didn't work on a Dutch source. The binaries in the updated standalone installer are English, so how come these work on a Dutch source while those in the non-standalone don't?
Super-Magician Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, I don't understand that either.
Acheron Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 I tested today latest HFSLIP including all updates except KB905474 on a Dutch Windows XP SP2 cd. I do get the notice. However I cannot find dutch version of the standalone hotfix. I have extracted the path to the hotfix from the windowsupdate.log:http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdo...b1eda2dbf18.exeThe difference is the WGATray.exe program. Normally you don't see it, but if your Windows is not 'genuine' you get to see some warning messages I prefer them to be in the native language
Tomcat76 Posted December 31, 2007 Author Posted December 31, 2007 The Dutch link is in the list. It's below "Chinese (Traditional)" in the dropdown list. Thanks anyway
CEoCEo Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Not until now Windows Update wants me to install Swedish KB905474 on Windows XP SP2.http://au.download.windowsupdate.com/msdow...37edf4e665d.exeThis link seems to be a bit different than the other downloads.
ivans2605 Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 And in Danish:WindowsXP-KB905474-x86.exe--Ivan
Tomcat76 Posted January 16, 2008 Author Posted January 16, 2008 Swedish and Danish added. That looks to be a new download pool. I changed the other links too, though it wasn't really necessary.
Rogon3 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 (edited) KOREANFile Version : 1.7.0018.5Build Date : 03 /15 /2007This is not right file, but previous version.Click Next page, for right thing.Sorry it's my fault.. Edited March 11, 2008 by Rogon3
Tomcat76 Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 (edited) Thanks Rogon3, but that update contains the files from March 2007. Windows Update wants the files from April 2007.Please open C:\WINDOWS\WindowsUpdate.log and search for the LAST occurance of "KB905474"; I think you copied the link of the FIRST occurance. I'll update the info on the HFSLIP site to make that clear. Edited March 11, 2008 by Tomcat76
