Patch Tuesday was last week Edit: also check your PM I sent you the x64 cab links
-
Thanks for testing it on all those systems and letting me know it works for all
-
Check WindowsUpdate.log for the cab links (here are the x86) 2012-06-17 13:50:56:676 924 d3c Setup Downloading setup package "WUClient-SelfUpdate-ActiveX~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256" 2012-06-17 13:50:56:676 924 d3c Setup Downloading setup package WUClient-SelfUpdate-ActiveX~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256.cab from http://download.windowsupdate.com/v9/1/windowsupdate/b/selfupdate/WSUS3/x86/Vista 2012-06-17 13:50:57:276 924 d3c Misc Validating signature for C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\Packages\WUClient-SelfUpdate-ActiveX~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256\WUClient-SelfUpdate-ActiveX~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256.cab: 2012-06-17 13:50:57:286 924 d3c Misc Microsoft signed: Yes 2012-06-17 13:50:57:286 924 d3c Setup Downloading setup package "WUClient-SelfUpdate-Aux-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256" 2012-06-17 13:50:57:286 924 d3c Setup Downloading setup package WUClient-SelfUpdate-Aux-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256.cab from http://download.windowsupdate.com/v9/1/windowsupdate/b/selfupdate/WSUS3/x86/Vista 2012-06-17 13:50:58:646 924 d3c Misc Validating signature for C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\Packages\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Aux-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Aux-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256.cab: 2012-06-17 13:50:58:960 924 d3c Misc Microsoft signed: Yes 2012-06-17 13:50:58:960 924 d3c Setup Downloading setup package "WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256" 2012-06-17 13:50:58:960 924 d3c Setup Downloading setup package WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256.cab from http://download.windowsupdate.com/v9/1/windowsupdate/b/selfupdate/WSUS3/x86/Vista 2012-06-17 13:51:04:322 924 d3c Misc Validating signature for C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\Packages\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256.cab: 2012-06-17 13:51:04:962 924 d3c Misc Microsoft signed: Yes

I think Windows 7 is the new XP, in the sense that Windows 8 is gonna suck and people who buy PC's with 8 preinstalled will downgrade to 7 (just like they downgraded to XP when they bought a PC with Vista) I personally dual boot XP and 7 but mostly use Windows 7

Which version? v. 6.1.22.4 ---- x0->x93FF v. 6.3.15.0 ---- x0->x95FF v6.2.29.0
-
Why dont you try looking in WindowsUpdate.log for the direct download links and yes, they are used with dism I had no idea it was this easy to retrieve the SFXCAB BTW I updated my WUA repack with MSCF.sfx v6.3.15.0
-
ALL the necessary files except wusetup.exe can be found in KB2720211 (no need for wget) I don't see that in any of the CABS? From KB2720211? Also, how did you get the "self-extract" portion of the Package (hex-out the front-end?)?wusetup.inf (and wsus3setup.cat): http://download.windowsupdate.com/v9/1/windowsupdate/b/selfupdate/WSUS3/x86/Other/wsus3setup.cab To remake the installer I used the SFX and instructions by WildBill (7zip SFX can work as well)
-
I did not have to edit the INF, just rename wsus3setup.inf to wusetup.inf
-
Thats actually a great idea, I might do that

The reason they are forcing you to use metro start is because they don't want it to end up like the Windows Media Center (very few people using it,) their strategy is to force you to use it and therefore you will learn to like it. (If only they did the same with the Windows Media Center more people would see its a great feature to have, I mean how cool is it that my Windows computer is also a friken TiVo?)
-
I was willing to put up with the new metro interface and flat GUI but they just lost me with DVD/WMC decision Remember the Vista days when some customers wanted to "downgrade" and go back to XP? Be prepared Microsoft because you have created a new XP and its name is Windows 7 (this time it could be considered a "upgrade" to downgrade to 7 )

If you want to make a hybrid t-13/runonceex 7zip sfx you could use this: ;!@Install@!UTF-8! RunProgram="setup.exe TRANSFORMS=\"%%T\\Unattended.mst\" /qb!" AutoInstall="hidcon:reg add HKLM\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\RunOnceEx\\Office2003 /ve /d \"MS Office 2003\" /f" AutoInstall="hidcon:reg add HKLM\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\RunOnceEx\\Office2003 /v 1 /d %%S\\%%M /f" GUIMode="2" ;!@InstallEnd@! Normal action (when you double click) is to do a normal install, but if you run the installer with -ai switch (or hold shift while you run it) it will add the registry entries to install on reboot (via RunOnceEx) So you run this during svcpack/t-13 with -ai it will add the reg entries, next restart (first login) the installer will run normally

Any MSI editing experts out there how to embed and apply a MSP file in a MSI installer using the Patch and/or PatchPackage tables? I will use it in my .NET4 WUFix to silence KB2468871, I can manually install it or apply the patch using this command line but would prefer to embed the MSP <installer>.msi /update <path>\<patch>.msp Here is the patch stub I created for KB2468871 using the tutorial by yumeyao, would greatly appreciate the help http://www.mediafire.com/?knbirti54nrgxr7

The reason he is backing up the activation is because he lost the key ! AFAIK Office Enterprise 2007 does not need to be activated online, its like VLK XP

Silent Switch for Intel HD Graphic Driver
ricktendo replied to nice_guy75's topic in Application Installs
If they failed to install it probably means that you dont have the specific hardware, then you would only need to use -a to add it to the driver repository and the driver will install once you plug in the device Edit: it will also give that error if its already installed -

You can also use pnputil.exe inf driver installer pnputil -i -a <inf_name>.inf -
It will install but you have to edit the installer, and if you do install it dont forget the security update KB2424434 To enable install on XP delete (with orca or insted) LaunchCondition -> VersionNT = 600

There are free tools that will recover your office key AFAIK Everest a.k.a. AIDA64 can do it (but they are not free)
-
Extract your original xp cd Then you expand I386\MOVIEMK.IN_ (7zip can do it) Rigkt click on moviemk.inf (make sure it still in the \I386 dir) and choose "Install" Finally you may have to install KB981997 security update This should work because moviemk.inf has a [DefaultInstall] section
