Automating/scripting iTunes on Windows http://blogs.msdn.com/dancre/archive/2004/05/08/128645.aspx Search > Inspiron 8600 itunes PS, You are right - its probally a software related thread, but all my links point to hardware. Hope it works. Thought about visiting Dell and see if other Dell owners have the same issue?

Your Internet Explorer Security settings are set to high and are blocking downloading and running of Active-X scripts used to display parts of some web pages. You must either except these problems as a result of having your IE security settings set to high, or you must lower them somewhat (and except the possbility of browers hijackers). These setting could be cause by some "protection program" or by IE settings. Go to IE - Tools - Internet Options - Security tab - Custom Level button, Set "Download signed ActiveX controls" to Prompt if it is Disabled. Set "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" to Enabled.

Yup, no secrets here really. Lazy ... you bet Our main duties as mods are to fetch cold beer for xper, change FthrJack's diapers (Not), and stock a supply of hair gel for AaronXP. Lots of forums have similar titles, groups, and yes misfits

Since it is a bew PC it could be hardware related, but I am more inclined to think it is background processes as XMac thinks. Seek www.BlackViper.com about background processes and how to optimize. Would not be a bad idea since its a new PC and some tweaking never hurt. Also, could be the ISP as some do not allow P2P clients, but thats far fetched. Check the terms of service of your ISP and see if that is applicable. Not know more about your PC and net connection we can only guess.

8.5 MB is the actual file size limit. The extra 1.5 MB is overhead. Like gosh said, use a file compression program such as WinRAR, www.rarlab.com. Split the file into smaller compressed files and have fun

Getting a domain to work properly.
MSNwar replied to Chaosratt's topic in Server - Side Help (IIS, Apache, etc.)
Both domains are registered to the same person. Both sites are hosted on the same server. You are sharing an IP with more than one domain. Thats why both sites point to the same IP. The redirect no longer occurs, so you must have fixed it or it took some time proprogate (24 to 72 hours). Don't worry. Your in good hands with eMax. -

LOL! That has to be the best linux quote ever. I actually laughed when I read that. Me to, cute statement. Both Windows and Linux are ok. Just depends on what you want to do with your computer. Knowing the limitations of both will go a long way to over-all stability. To many people jump from Windows to Linux because they are experimenting without knowing the limitations of both and end up with unstable systems. Experimenting is a good thing and lends to a more skilled user. Why not? RaveRod seems to be well studied and makes a skilled accessment of the technical aspects. The points he makes are now in my personal cliff notes. Pretty much sums it up I say. Thanks RaveRod. FthrJack knows all of the above technical aspects and clearly emphasizes the differences between everyday Windows software and some of the Linux software we users would most likey use on the respective operating systems. Take it from a guy that knows. Linux is just not as user friendly as Windows is not as widely supported by Windows developers. I am not bashing Linux or you Varient. I like it that you are doing both and hope you will continue to experiment with both. Its all good

Windows host script help
MSNwar replied to dtek's topic in Programming (C++, Delphi, VB/VBS, CMD/batch, etc.)
It depends on the server operating system and other software. UNIX, Linux, Apache, and the specific versions of each. I use all three, but I also use two control panels with a windows type of GUI. Both are already pre-scripted and the conventions you ask about are already built-in. Just a few clicks and job done. The first is the Web Host Manager (WHM) and the second is Control Panel (cPanel) available at www.cpanel.net Demos of both are found at www.demodemo.com Password demo is at http://www.demodemo.com/1/tutorials/whm_xskin_pw.htm Popular script site that covers just about everything: http://www.hotscripts.com Custom scripts for cPanel: http://html.conclase.net/cp/scripts/ -

Gartner is advising its customers to budget for extra security spending on Windows desktops in the wake of the raft of problems caused by the Sasser worm this week. The influential analyst group reckons the appearance of another - and perhaps even more devastating - worm is only a matter of time. In the meantime, Users should batten down their security hatches. In a research note, Gartner writes: "Many of the vulnerabilities that continue to be identified in Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003 are easily exploitable; attackers will continue to develop worms that will cause damage equal to, or more severe than, the system shutdowns and network congestion caused by the Slammer worm. Enterprises that are dependent on Windows systems must invest both in means to patch faster and in host-based intrusion prevention software for all Windows PCs and servers. Microsoft's plans to improve the security of Windows through the purchase of an anti-virus company almost a year ago appear to be stuck in limbo. The software giant entered the AV market with the surprise acquisition of little known Romanian AV firm GeCAD Software for an undisclosed sum in June last year. At the time Microsoft said it would use GeCAD's expertise and technology to "enhance the Windows platform" and extend support for third-party antivirus vendors. "The knowledge and experience acquired from GeCAD will contribute to Microsoft's understanding of how systems are attacked, enabling Microsoft to more effectively focus on platform improvements," it said. Speaking at the recent Infosecurity Europe show Jonathan Perera, Senior Director at Microsoft's Security Business and Technology Unit, said the company is not ready to announce a product strategy for GeCAD almost a year after the acquisition. GeCAD's technology is been used in programming interfaces to make it easier to plug anti-virus software into Windows, he said. Goes to show that when you will stop paying just how fast they can come up with an alternative to keep you paying. In this case at least an alternative was available and worked out to your advantage. Like a few months ago I upped my plan for about $10.00 more a month, but was not getting the advertised speed. Matter of fact the speed was about the same as the original plan, so I to called and said I wanted to go back to the cheaper plan for that reason. They asked me to wait a few days and they would have a tech look into it. Boom. Speeds were suddenly as advertised!
