  1. Hi cenkie. We appreciate your nice comments. Welcome to MSFN
  2. Hi Jonquil. No worries as the members here are very friendly and enjoy helping nice people like yourself. If it gets to technical ask us to slow down and we will take our time. In cases like that just ask your questions in a seperate thread instead of an ongoing discussion with a lot of techie stuff. Welcome to MSFN

    Hi

    Hi Patagonicus. Welcome to MSFN
  5. The code http://www.yourdomain.com/file.exe will cause the "save as". The html code to link from a button (image) to a file on drive C is: <a href="file:///C:/CD2HTML/cd2html.exe">
  6. Another way is to find a "web site host" that offers a plan with cPanel (control panel) and Fantastico De Luxe. Then you can install a web site and a Invision Forum easily. The installation of Invision takes less than five minutes. PHPNuke and a few others are also included. With cPanel and your own web space you can do a lot of advanced web master tasks with minimal web master skills. Learn more about cPanel and Fantastico De Luxe at http://www.cpanelthemes.com/fantastico.php Host wise look at http://www.emaxhosting.com and http://www.backrackhosting.com Best advise is to start small and work your way up to bigger host plans.
  7. toreach, Certain characters are a problem, i.e. TM. You might try renaming the folder and then try to delete it. Not sure about that, but it will only take you a few seconds to see if it works.
  8. Have you ever tried to delete a file in Windows Explorer and received the error message that it could not delete the file because it was in use? This can happen even when you know for a fact that the file is not in use. You may open a command prompt and try to delete the file with the Delete command. But this method also fails. Here's how you can delete an "undeletable" file. Follow these steps: 1. Close all open programs. 2. Open a command prompt. 3. Right-click the taskbar, and select Task Manager. 4. On the Processes tab, select Explorer.exe, and click the End Process button. 5. Minimize Task Manager, but don't close it. 6. At the command prompt, use the Delete command to remove the file, and close the command prompt. 7. In Task Manager, go to File | New Task (Run). 8. In the Create New Task dialog box, enter Explorer.exe, and click OK. 9. Close Task Manager. From Windows XP Tips Newsletter at TechRepublic.com

  10. Just received this in an email from- ZDNet Tech Update Today - and it answers some questions about my own problems with some of my Linksys routers that I have been experiencing in the past six months. Added it to my personal Tech Archive. My Linksys router/firewalls--old and new--have suffered a variety of Universal Plug-n-Play problems, port vulnerabilities and reliability issues. Apparently, a combination of engineering difficulties and design decisions are leaving Linksys customers exposed to potential security problems, including that new looming threat to all Internet users--the mini Distributed Denial of Service attack. 11. BTW, if you need another mirror I can provide one. I own a web hosting company.
  12. Another fine contribution by Chris Kite Keep up the good work and thank you
  13. Did you use the XP Help and Support because it explains it all. Basicly, you just need two LAN cards (one for each PC) and the cable. Its better to read the XP Help guides first, so you get all the details before you do anything. I use cheap kits from PC stores that include the two cards (with drivers) and cable. Real easy.
  14. You mean the uninstall "Registry Entry". No one confuse this with a keygen request. edit. I forgot to ask. Do you like the game? My buds at work are crazy about it.
  15. The XP Help section has walk-thrus for connecting the two PCs with a router. Start > Help and Support > Networking and the Web. Search Network. As long as everything is connected properly and you do not have any strange software running in the background it is a 15 minute or less setup. This from the XP Networking Guide: Networking Managing a myriad of network and Internet connections can be confusing. Empower yourself with knowledge about managing network and Internet connections for local and remote users. If you have a network problem, diagnose and fix it with network, Internet, and hardware troubleshooters. There is a dial-up guide suited just for your purpose. Hope this helps
  16. and they are goofy looking too. Did you notice the picture hanging from the mirror?
  17. Datalore Rules Well, I do not want the P2P stuff. Been there done that. Looked at cokemusic.com and will look harder again this coming weekend. It was pretty decent. Thanks for the pointer cubie!

    Teens

Not me. Older than dirt, lol. Yes, the teens here at MSFN are some of the matureist and smartest people I know. I like seeing teens start something that I have seen done many times over the years, but with new twists, often due to advancements in technology or education. Gamehead200 is a very bright teen, but does not know how to use a camera properly! Joking Gamehead. Remember the vacation in Mexico, lol. Everyone here that has already posted in this thread I have always considered smarter and more mature than the average teen. There are also some very wise teens that have yet to post in this thread. Also, imagine the guests that are teens that do not post because they think they are not up to it. I get emails from guest teens too embarassed to post sometimes. Once they realize that all of us "teens and oldies like me" will be happy to help without ridicule it will be a better day. Thanks to all MSFN Teens and the membership at large we are the best community on the net INHO.
  20. Say you have a cd burner but you do not want another user to be able to utilize it. Just disable it in the hardware profile. Other things like video cards. Video card drivers can be profiled for games or web site development. Things like that.
  21. CuBie, Downloading from legitimate sites for a price. In the past I saw a few discussions about some sites having a better selection than others, faster pipes, things like that. Thanks
