Firewire is "crippled" in SP2 pre-release builds. Support for it is rather limited in the pre-release builds of SP2, so that you won't use SP2 RCs on a long-term basis. They'd like you to upgrade to SP2 final, whenever it comes out, as soon as possible - in order to use firewire normally again. Prolly it is the same case with blue-tooth. I do know it for a fact that Wi-Fi capability and the wizard to setup 802.11b-protocol-based networks were less than full-fledged in all the betas (and Release Candidates) that have come out until now.

Thanks for the screenies. Also, the "Service Pack 2" build string in system props above, should lay to rest a lot of doubting Thomases who are still speculating as to the date of the final build. It would be notable, that all pre-release builds normally carry an extra text in the SP_version area (like, if you have build 2162, your Sys Props will say "Service Pack 2, v.2162).

well said, by simonsays. SP2 is still on route to being released on august 5th (if testers report any major problems, expect it to be delayed by 2 days, otherwise, SP2 is on the right path, just waiting for the right minute).

Interesting news channel - now, if only that TV could be tuned.... Nice one.

The real reason could be that the ISO you made previously had a corrupted TOC. In any case, it is interesting how you post a question at 4:47 PM, and expect an answer within 5:15 PM - it could take hours, even weeks, before someone who really knows what you are trying to do, and also knows the solution, bumps into your thread. I don't mean to offend you, just informing you of the turn-around times you could sometimes experience. -
select office xp app to install - doesn't work

To prevent these sort of errors, first try out what you want in the batch-file method. Then, when you're sure that it works, use WIHU/RunOnceEX/XPlode/WPIW2/whatever. As it stands currently, we have no way of knowing whether there's an error with your WIHU's INI config, or whether your Office install source is at fault, or whether your .MST is at fault. -
If it were me, I would first check whether I have the hardware to support Doom3, and then, whether any of it was running out of Spec. (over-clocked). The NoCD cracks aren't to be trusted very much. I normally make ISO CD-images of my game CDs, and use SoftDisc or Daemon-Tools (google to get their home-page) to emulate the original CD with copy-protection enabled - whenever I have a game which wants a CD in the drive to play. Hoping this helps.

Please don't post the same question across different threads. That happens when your driver (*.sy_) files are corrupted somewhere. The program you use to make the ISO matters, as well - because I found UltraISO gave the problem you mention, whereas cdimageGUI did not. -

Unattended software installation using rundll32
prathapml replied to Bittaneva's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Excuse me, but the RunOnceEX method (also called INF/Windows-Update method) is exactly what you are looking for. Your attached (.doc above) contains info about some 2 things which don't work as yet - MSFN guides got those things working as well! -
This (one-horse) race has all the looks of having a nil-biting finish, indeed.

Not exactly, its in intensive testing for some time, before being released. Selected testers (since yesterday) have been e-mailed to download and report any last-minute issues. Soon enough, it will be available to a wider audience. We'd rather not rush SP2, when it is *SO* close to release. Who knows, the reports that they get from this round of testing will end up in the "known issues" list. The link to download final (RTM) build was obviously not taken to kindly, by Microsoft. Even as our excitement is winding down with the final release, even as we speak, the rest of the world is just about starting to pick up the buzz about SP2 (news/reviews/fixes/cracks/etc.). Here's your chance to be the some of the *FIRST* people to have SP2, and talk about it.

Now, this is a surprise! The originator of the JS method did not beat it up into doing what he wanted it to do! Here's an explanation: It won't work from svcpack.inf or if you're running it from RunOnceEX/INF method. That is because, the relative directories will work only in context of being run from that folder, whereas the above methods run in a more direct level. It runs fine (atleast for me) if you do the same from either cmdlines/GUIrunonce using .CMDs/XPlode.

YAAAAYYYYYYY RTM finally! It will still be some time before the you can download it from a Public MS server. But we aren't the general public, are we? I'll check with MS (if its okay with them) and post the final build's download link.

Especially when you remember to "Search posts from..." = "Any date".

I would sure love to help you. But I'm not able to figure out what your question is, in the above post. Could you please edit it, to make it a bit clearer to understand?
-
You're welcome. We all did the same. Hoping you enjoy your time on the MSFN forums!
-
yes, who would like to pre-order this on CD?
-
There's work-arounds available to do that, but that is risky/dangerous as your OS may develop other problems. Also, the workaround is "hacking" and banned from discussion. Just use a server-OS compatible anti-virus, like Symantec Corp. or McAfee Enterprise, or for a free solution, use Kaspersky.

windows 2000 startup program configure
prathapml replied to Intellion's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
None exists. You need to use 3rd party utilities in its place. You can download the attached tool, and put it into "C:\windows\System32\" folder. Thereafter, just run "startupcpl" instead of "msconfig". StartupCPL.zip -
I've also heard from my "source" that longhorn is being released this week, and that the world is coming to an end this month.---- Nonsense. Redmond is located in GMT -8:00 hour timezone... So we probably won't see it till at least 12 noon eastern or 5 pm gmt today. The RTM has been right on schedule. Now, all we're wanting is a download link from where we can get it too, without breaking rules.
-
Yup! that's right. When it releases to the general dumb-a** public (aug 25), this is where SP2 will be found - home. Oh, woa!! My life hast changed -- It's Doom III, Half-Life 2, XP SP2!!! Whatta end of the summer!! Hehe.
-
ha ha ha.... hold it dude, first someone says "Either Microsoft releases Service Pack 2... or we start suiciding PC's..." and now this........
-
To the best of what I know, I haven't heard of anyway to change that.
-
that is integrated into XPSP2 as well!
