There's been so many posts going past, but none of any specific info! So here's details. 1. You can retrieve your Gmail messages with a client or device that supports POP, like Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Mail. 2. The Gmail POP-access is being rolled out slowly. Not all have access to it yet. If you are on the lucky side, you see a "New Features" link in brown, at top-right of your Gmail (after you login via web-interface). Then, clicking it tells you of how you can use POP. 3. Then see XtremeMaC's post: 4. Then this info: Incoming Mail (POP3) Server – requires SSL: pop.gmail.com Use SSL: Yes Port: 995 Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server – requires TLS: smtp.gmail.com (use authentication) Use Authentication: Yes Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL) Port: 465 or 587 Account Name: your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com') Email Address: your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com) Password: your Gmail password You won't see google ads of any sort, now that you don't see the web-interface!

Its commercial. As for winrar - it is perfect for such purposes as well. I've RAR'ed up folders that were even 23 GB! (the single-file it created, and the fact that resulting archive was only 7 GB is a bonus ).

Maybe you don't have the required MSI on that folder where you are updating with the patch. If you properly made an admin-install point and used the correct patching command-lines example: msiexec /p C:\SP1\MAINSP1ff.msp /a C:\Office2003\PRO11.msi SHORTFILENAMES=TRUE /qbYou should not have any problems if you followed the guide *EXACTLY* here - http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/office2003_slipstreaming.htm.

silent installer for firefox & Thunderbird
prathapml replied to kwpro's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Well, how is my 7-Zip compressed SFX installer of (Mozilla Firefox 1.0 + extensions + Thunderbird 0.9) total up to just 6.2 MB? 14.6 MB of valuable space on CD sounds like a lot! -
You can give IE proxy settings in two ways: 1. Use the IEAK to make a .isp configure file that is applied to IE thru winnt.sif (there's a section for IE settings to import). 2. The same SETUPMGR that makes your unattended config WINNT.SIF allows you to specify IE proxy settings.

Install with switches from HTML
prathapml replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Does the .HTA file open properly when you double-click on it? Which version of windows and IE is on the machine you're trying this? It works directly calling the HTA for me, but if nothing else doesn't work for you, you can try this code in the autorun.inf: [AutoRun] open="iexplore FILENAME.HTA" -

cmd to exe possible?
prathapml replied to sixpack's topic in Programming (C++, Delphi, VB/VBS, CMD/batch, etc.)
The icon resource that you want to replace it with has to be of the same file-size and color-depth. -
But what I do know is that if you have an English version of Windows (XP/2k/98/whatever) - saving your .REG in ANSI reduces the chance of unintended formatting characters getting left behind - therefore increasing the chances of your .REG being correct.

Unattended Website Additions
prathapml replied to Alanoll's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Yes, you could make that as the default recommended way of adding users for the "simple" way. What makes it even more simple is that if you add only one user, that user will get admin rights and be automatically logged-on. Also, oobeinfo.ini is an automated method of the OOBE that runs at first-boot - so effectively it is a perfect method. The "advanced" page can have all the "net user" commands and .reg auto-logon and whatnot.... But spare the newbies the bother! -

You need XPCREATE (the tool). Do take a look around MSFN forums to find its section.

Diskeeper 9 Professional Unattended via VBScript
prathapml replied to durex's topic in Application Installs
Works fine for me! It works with .NET, vmware, acrobat reader, diskeeper, etc. If you'd like someone to see what could be wrong, please describe what you do, and also which method you use to install (batch-files, or XPlode, or RunOnceEX, etc.) -
First check out this page: Clean-install guide From what you say, it looks like you haven't had prior experience of doing a clean-install. Now since doing it in the wrong way can make your system become totally unusable, or lose all data on it, its important that someone who knows it should carry it out. You might find it better to call a friend over to your home, since help over a forum can only be to a certain extent - it can be frustrating to wait for answers, and since you may not tell the full details it may be time-consuming, and lastly that the PC from which you are posting is going to not be able to access the internet when doing an install.

There must be some command-line arguments, or registry tweaks for that.
-
If the switches it offers are "/S /v/qn", have you tried making an Administrative Install Point of it? (also called server Image) 1. Run the setup with "/A" switch. 2. Then take the resulting folder, and use the new MSI that was created, with "/QB" switch. 3. That's it. (plain and much simpler)

UltraISO is for creating CD-images! naji seems to be asking for something else! @naji Why not just a file-compression utility? And if you want to have a single-file self-placing mechanism, you can use something called SFX in archives. In other words, using WinRAR to compress the folder to RAR, and adding an SFX module to it (for self-extraction on machines where winrar may not be installed) is what you seem to be looking at.
-
Well, the registry can only hold keys and values in ANSI characters. It therefore follows logically, that any derivative of the registry should only contain those chars. And if you save your .REG in unicode text, there's a good chance that there's some unicode chars in that file (intentionally, or unintentionally) - which is avoided if you save it as normal ANSI text.

Java 1.4.2_06 or Java 5.0
prathapml replied to bucketbuster's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
So when I understood that article correctly; IE and Firefox are affected and Opera isn't?Thank god, I'm using Opera No, that inference is wrong. I use opera too..... Opera just uses the Java run-times that you have on the system - and so does mozilla/firefox (and IE). So even if you use opera, you need to keep your java version updated. -
Java 1.4.2_06 or Java 5.0
prathapml replied to bucketbuster's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
For those of you confused about versions: There was 1.4.2_05 (which is now old). The next version was supposed to be 1.5 - but got renamed to 5.0 instead (so you won't find 1.5 anywhere). Maybe 1.4.2_06 is a service release for those still on the 1.4.x versions. But for all other purposes, unless you have a compelling reason to stick with 1.4.x versions, move to JRE 5.0. jjn1056 (second post in this topic) has given a nice explanation. I can add that Java 5.0 seems to have better-looking widgets (a smoother UI, in other words). -
But if you still need the old SoundStorm utility, there's one thing to take note of - if you take your CD to a PC that does not have nForce hardware, the SoundStorm might still get installed (which is a problem). Installing nVidia SoundStorm selectively, has been discussed in these topics: detect nForce and install SoundStorm more forum posts about soundstorm Hoping this helps....

1. The newer driver, and older utility may not give proper stability, but its your choice.... 2. I checked on my NVmixer just now - and it has 4 speaker support!
