  1. nLite 0.95 beta released, more info here
  2. @Alanoll, you're nasty ... Oh, spam, i mean Neow1n, didn't saw that, i was happy to see it on Softpedia getting "pick 5/5" from poster. @war59312, ok, one down...it's great to see bugs go away by themselves.
  3. @John0877, try without selecting QoS, experimental options and Optional Net Components. And if you get that kind of network problem only in virtual machines, nothing to worry about, it's not easy to setup them to work properly with the "real world". p.s. next time it's enough to provide selected.ini content instead of screenshots, easier for you. @jmbattle, notes and bugs will grow, don't worry About missing files...learn how to use nlite.log...just find the file and see what section it was. 'Scheduled Tasks' i tried to remove long time ago and it was ie disaster...but now i have more experience, it may be doable. @xper, thanx for the forum subsection, now i can stretch my legs and post new topic for every new version (so that we don't get bloated like in this one). @GreenMachine, howdy neighbor @bonedaddy, thanx for your support, there is a link in Threads of interest, and we can try to make these topics most active every day, so it's kinda like sticky edit: @Nikser, besides reinstalling your windows contact me on email and i'll send you uncompressed files until i revise the installer (if i can call it that).
  4. @Troglodyte, so it works now ? Yes, that was a temporary version name, but changed it fast. 0.94 is the newest. edit: lol, selection triggers the sound...thanx for noticing it
  5. @war59312, i really can't tell what it is, try googling it @Troglodyte, thanx Try to unselect Manual Installation Support option, that solution is on the first page of this topic. That helped many people with building file list bug. About distributing...well lets wait for a fix of that and some other bugs. I fixed music.wma bug, trying to fix System Restore and building file list bug...then we can call it almost stable and release a next version.
  6. No, you would write something like diesel_98a said Put it in i386
  7. @cullend11, it seems that you don't understand the basics...go and read it from the scratch. The part where you said "$OEM$ file" blew my will to help...sorry but you made too much mistakes, read the guide carefully and come back. winnt.sif can't be used like that
  8. Here is the fresh one, but next time first search the forum.
  9. It will be effective only if booted from cd... (or you can see what switches to use if you don't boot.... run "i386\winnt32 /?") Be sure to save it as winnt.sif, not winnt.sif.txt (i don't mean that you're stupid it's just sometimes people don't see that extension if they have hidden extensions)
  10. @war59312, try reinstalling Framework @Weed, recently i made it to autodetect unicode files...but there may be some leftovers, i'll double check it later...that was the issue of first versions and non-english languages, a disaster...but you must know that my problem wasn't that i can read only ansi, it was that i wrote ansi where it should be unicode. So you loose exotic characters @venim, i hope that's not english windows you're using About W2k3...don't encourage people to use it on other oses, yet You can use it with Win2k too but there is a big issue, if something is selected then nothing gets installed...i'm searching for a cause @MCT, now ie removal is little better, around 4MB or more...must say it's kinda disappointing, i thought it was bigger...maybe the issue is that half of it is integrated in every aspect of windows @Tribble, if you have that kind of problem with the latest version (0.94) then it's old problem with modifype external usage...it's in data dir...keep it there, can you just post what directory are you using for nlitetivation...try it on simple as c:\xpcd and report did that help...if it did then i'll need to revise oobe hack.
  11. Try without that gosh's tweak...it must work. edit: unless the missing/tampered file is not part of dllcache, then you need cd, but those are rare, as you can see that folder is quite big
  12. @]Bonkers[, it's always best if you could find what component is causing the problem. It's kinda hard when it all works for me.
  13. @Alanoll, sfc is disabled by a precracked one, it's working on all tested versions (never had a reported problem concerning it). Tested it myself on all versions...it has the needed start of a file to seem disabled (as i answered before few posts back), rest of a file isn't important because it never gets called. I agree that more sleak solution will be to generically hack it but that's to much work for something that will work the same. (some day, will do) If i understood you correctly you mean to put detection of already removed (or non-existant) components...well i'm working on it...it's allready in 0.94 one fifth autodetectable (javavm for example). Uxtheme insertion...going to think about that how to implement it.
  14. I doubt that reg is the cause without hacked sfc_os.dll But if you want total control over your os, disable sfc completely (search for it) If you are a beginner or don't reinstall windows often leave it on. And why even use that reg (SourcePath,ServicePackSourcePath), windows installs it's own regs for dllcache path and cd source...why tamper (if you want working sfc)
  15. Well...SFC is using Windows\System32\DllCache folder. Did you maybe deleted that folder or maybe disabled it's full creation from winnt.sif or regs ? In winnt.sif check for [SystemFileProtection] SFCQuota=0 SFCScan=0 SFCDisable=ffffff9d
  16. @]Bonkers[, i tried your setup and for me there is no such icons and Luna is there...that means there is some incompatibility. Exactly what Windows version do you have...language...oem, retail... @bOrG, we'll see about that. For now i'm adapting nLite to Win2k and there is much errors, so when i fix them it may fix your network problem. Until then you may be helpful if you find what exact component is causing the problem. Just put it on Virtual test few times...try removing few components from your selection until it works, then just report here which one(s) was it.
  17. @LeoKesler, going to see that, can't wait to fix srestore bug, it bugs me @]Bonkers[, i'll test later your selection, it seems that slightly your windows core files are different but we'll fix it eventually @DarkPhoenix, too bad it's still not working for you, have patience, try next version some day, there is much to change so it may get fixed in the process About color stuff...good point, i'll change it. Presets are meant to hang like that, i like it. @bOrG, ok, calc and paint...but who will want to remove calc, am i the only one thinking that's the best thing in windows, that and the blank screen saver (just kidding, i love winxp, just for the record) About dhcp problem, try not to select any Service and Experimental until it's pinned down. @MCT, one windows image viewer coming right up. Uxtheme warning is under Notes for days now, people just don't read that stuff. Estimated space, it's great feature, will be there, but in general i always put gui stuff last...when we could manage with batches, we can manage with crappy gui, can't we @hoTy3k, images option deleted the avatars, i hate that too, going to correct it Descriptions are made in a hury, but i'll fix that one first @cb3dsl, thanx, i'll see what i can do @tk_9630, i now what you mean, it's not bug, it's just that option is for people who make their own boot menus. All you need to do is copy bootfix.bin file from full windows to nlited i386 folder, make iso with "make iso" from Options menu (because you don't need reduction again) and the press... will be back. About batches...i used them, and they work perfectly, jdeboeck did a great job, you may not beleive me but it's tougher to make it without specialized program language (when you get the hang of it). @anon, thanx...more safe...lol...good one @Unaimed, yes, and Milgathia wanted that, so you'll have it For indexing service removal, Datalore gave a good explanation.
  18. Here is the way to disable OOBE startup by gosh LINK Just don't use that batch to remove it...you'll need it later to activate, only hack syssetup.dll
  19. Guys...when i get home i'll write down all your suggestions and answer them...I just saw the front page...great, thanx a lot MSFN.
  20. @Datalore, excellent...don't worry, we'll be crusin' lower than that. I put myself a WindowsPE limit @Unaimed, ok, noted
  21. @Lecter, ... it would be great if i had help like that every time...thanx edit: @Datalore...don't expect it to sing to much, and definitely don't report bugZ (except fatal ones, it must at least work)
  22. @]Bonkers[, try 0.94, can't promise it will fix your problem but then we can debug it. @AztecMystic, Alanoll is right...and i was wrong when i told you that you can distribute it, i didn't know you ment the "wooorld" ...maybe it's better to wait until those few more bugs are eradicated. @ZuluDC, yes, the overload may occur @Lecter, congratulations...it was mdmssys.inf...and all modems are mdm* So if you have same problem with 0.94 just don't select manual install and let me know so that we can warn the others. Thank you. Here is 0.94, not much new stuff because i spent all time on searching system restore bug, and no luck...it's maybe these: internet explorer, msagent and help. - new component: Com+ - new component: Disk Cleanup - new component: Zip Folders - fixed internet explorer removal - fixed modem removal Always read notes and known bugs
  23. @Alanoll, well it seems that some folks had problems with simple stuff but mainly because it's not yet user friendly. I'm going to take your suggestion into consideration and definitely there will be something like that past the 0.94 because i made slight modifications that may help for now. edit: @ZuluDC, there i just made a link to your post, so you edit it if necessary, it's ok like it is now (except those 2 remarks, we don't wan't people to think that it needs sp1).
  24. @LeoKesler, driver.cab is compressed harder then default routines, so that may be the case, don't worry about it. System restore problem, yes it's only with the Gui...still trying to find what component cause it...narrowed it down to Internet Options. @DarkPhoenix, well, it parses through selected inf files and retrieves file names used in the process...so, reason for hanging there in the past was read only bug...that's fixed...or is it...try to remove readonly attributes from files and directories in the installation and try it then. It may be a problem with missing inf file...maybe that will be gone in next next version when i put all components to autodetect...for now (0.94) only third is like that. Uploading as soon as system restore is fixed. @ZuluDC, great job, going to put it on the first page, only few modifications will be made (if i may ? ): I doesn't needs to be sp1, it can be original, sp1 or sp2 You don't need to click start, just browse, window will automatically select start. @cb3dsl, that large amount of data is extracted drivers (tmpdrv folder), delete it. Thanx for the file list, next time give me the full list. I'm going to see now why those files makes problem to you, but it will be good that you send me your selected.ini on mail. @Nemesis300, i apriciate your hotfixes hunt but it's ok, it isn't important, your hotfixes are installed even reported missing and soon sp2 will be final. More important is that missing icon stuff...well i've never had such a problem with public versions...and you are sure that you're testing it on a clean installation, not some tweaked one...clean on virtual machine without any additions, and its still has the same error ? If it is, then contact me on the mail so we can arrange that you send me few files from your windows so that i can fix it...it won't be bigger than 1-2mb.
  25. @MCT, yes...maybe new version will help a little...moved start tab to the end. @CBC, that's like a song to me @DarkPhoenix, hmm...don't know...but have you tried not selecting Language Support options...you will not lose much but it may work until it's fixed. @SolidasRock, thanx for pointing that @Lecter, Well i don't think it's hanging because of the hardware...it can have something to do with a file system...too little space, some ntfs attributes. Do you have at least 500mb in the partition on which you have your installation ? Try selecting only one component at random, so that i know is it a global or local problem.
