  1. Great! However, when I said "nLited source," I was referring to the fact that nLite, no matter what you do, will (I think) add some *extra* files to your source. HFSLIP can slipstream your service pack easily, and without adding extra files, thanks to an addition generously provided/created by Tomcat76. Read the directions to it here. I would recommend using this, not nLite, but that's just my opinion.
  2. Camarade_Tux: The tag files are actually 10 bytes long and contain the string "Windows " plus some blank lines (at least for XP and 2003). You should not be using an nLite source for HFSLIP. According to the directions, you should have a clean source. HFSLIP, I believe, also uses the SP1.cab file to check for a few things.
  3. Just a head's up: Windows Genuine Advantage (LegitCheckControl.cab) is updated to version 1.5.0512.0. The last modified date of the DLL is 02/14/2006 09:20 AM. Click here to download the WGA CAB file from Microsoft for use in HFSLIP
  4. @FDV, you should update the link to Tomcat's update page. Also, the page for the WGA hacked DLL does not exist anymore, and the "last updated" date hasn't been changed for a while.
  5. Please attach your ERROR_REPORT as outlined in the directions. -- Super-Magician
  6. That's what I thought might be the issue. Thanks! -- Super-Magician
  7. Will readding KB887472 correct the missing KB911565 update? -- Super-Magician
  8. I did a new HFSLIP with the new patches released on MS Patch Tuesday. Windows Update asks me to (re)install two critical updates. KB887472 - Tomcat says this *Windows Messenger* update has been replaced. But I'm still asked to install it. KB911565 - New WMP10 security update. I think the problem is that in my case this update is installed *before* WMP is integrated. Will it only work if I slipstream WMP? Let me know if you want me to attach anything. -- Super-Magician
  9. Where am I supposed to find modifype.exe? Edit: Never mind, found it on the 2000 page.
  10. The link in the Tools menu is not actually updated. It stays at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com, but if it detects that the muweb.dll is installed on your computer, it will automatically redirect to Microsoft Update.
  11. Don't those two say the same thing? Here, I thought you would need to compress it (MAKECAB) first.
  12. Although I can't really help you with your setup errors (I'm not very good with multiboot CDs), I do want to let you know that some of the DX9 cabs you placed in HFCABS are ignored by HFSLIP. Please consult Tomcat's list of Win2000 updates to see which files you need. Also, try using the latest version of HFSLIP, 60208. -- Super-Magician
  13. The sign-in problem no longer occurs, so my CD is now relatively error-free. Thanks for all the help everyone gave me, especially tommyp and Tomcat! -- Super-Magician
  14. I am actually running a REG file, but I'm pretty sure there was nothing wrong with it. Still, that must be the reason. I'll try installing without that.
  15. About the MSXML stuff: I totally forgot that tommyp integrated Tomcat's script into HFSLIP, so you don't need to follow that link I gave you. OK.
  16. This is probably a stupid question, but are you sure? Usually when this happens to me, the next time I start the computer, AU starts downloading the rest of the updates I had slipstreamed. As noted on his website, this installer cannot be installed from SVCPACK.INF. This is exactly where HFSLIP places things you put in the HFSVPK folder. So, no, it won't work.I will take a look at your error report and get back to you. Meanwhile, see if either Tomcat, tommyp, or someone else can help. By the way, welcome to the forum ! -- Super-Magician Edit: I see you have msxml4sp2-kb887606-x86-enu.exe in your HF folder. I believe HFSLIP processes this before msxmlcab.exe, so it won't really update anything. Try this thread: Script -- MSXML4 SP2 with latest update for use with HFSLIP.
  17. bireland, please use the latest version of HFSLIP, 60208. There was a "little big problem" (Tomcat76's words) in version 60205 and the script was recalled.
  18. This error may happen occasionally. Try running HFSLIP again. Also, please post your ERROR_REPORT.txt file, as we might be able to figure something out using that. The updates are still actually installed on your computer even if the INF files are missing; however, the registry entries and keys that Windows Update uses to check for the presence of your updates will not be added. In other words, WU will attempt to reinstall all the updates you have already slipstreamed.
  19. OK, well, I was planning to post earlier this morning, but I didn't get a chance to. Anyway, the WMP error is finally fixed! I retested my installation this morning, and everything works perfectly now. Except that after configuring Welcome to Windows, I get an error saying that my logon password is incorrect. In the background, I see a Classic Logon dialog trying to log onto the Administrator account. After I click OK on the error dialog, it returns to the Welcome screen (with the single account I created, 'Super-Magician'). Hopefully I don't get too many more problems so I can finally close this thread. Also, I may have been wrong when I said that not installing WMP10 fixes the background music, however. I didn't test it in a VM, and I didn't have sound drivers when I installed Windows. I actually set up the drivers and then used SYSPREP to reseal the machine. This is when I heard the music. But since we couldn't fix the music by integrating WMP, I'll just leave it alone for now. If anyone figures it out, just drop me a line.
  20. I am going to be retesting my installation (HFSLIP_60208) using a CD. Hopefully the WMP integration works. I've redownloaded the installer in case that helps. I've used CDIMAGE 2.52 (not the GUI version) to create images in the past, but this time I used CDBurnerXP Pro 3 (I've also tried burning the CD using UltraISO). I plan to continue utilizing CDIMAGE for future images, so let me make sure I am using the correct switches. Besides the switches for the volume label, time stamp, and boot sector file, I use: -h -j1 -x -o -m Would you suggest a different combination or such? If and when this version is uploaded, I will test it. Thanks!-- Super-Magician
  21. Yes, I meant the Redist when I first posted. -- Super-Magician
  22. I'm pretty sure I did. I can download it again if it might help. -- Super-Magician
