  1. Oops, I forgot about that .When I didn't provide the full path, that Advanced INF Install error occurred. Does that mean I do need it for Windows 2003? It worked fine without on XP.
  2. My script only appears to work in Windows XP. When I place the script in SVCPACK ('MSMSGS.CMD') for a 2003 installation, I get an 'Advanced INF Install' error at T-13 again, just like for 2000. -- Super-Magician
  3. Tomcat76: You know how right after you install Windows, setup presents you with "Welcome to Windows"? Sysprep, or System Preparation Tool, is a corporate deployment tool used by system administrators to prepare a system for duplication or delivery to the customer. Essentially, it configures the computer to run Windows Welcome or Mini-Setup the first time the end user restarts the computer ('Microsoft Out-of-Box Experience', or OOBE). When you restart the computer, Windows will present a shortened form of GUI-mode Setup.
  4. EmRoD means that he resealed his computer with sysprep.
  5. Pontus, you need to remove all the punctuation from the names of your folders.STEP THREE: Dump your HFSLIP folder into the root of E:\ and your problems should be fixed.-- Super-Magician
  6. What about the thing in Add/Remove Windows Components?
  7. Tomcat76: My script works fine, but what's the thing in Add/Remove Programs you're talking about? tommyp: Option 4 sounds OK to me, but I wish there would be an automated way of doing that. I tried Option 5 once, but that was with my *corrupted* WINNT.SIF file (it said "[Componants]" instead), and I never tried it again.
  8. But at least tommyp understood...I think.
  9. Congratulations, tommyp! You're now a "Friend of MSFN" as indicated by your avatar, and you've reached 700 posts...yay! Anyway, what I used was a CMD file, which I put in HFSVPK. I don't know much about INF files and HFCLEANUP, but maybe option 1 or 3 is easier? -- Super-Magician
  10. Haha OK, great . I accidentally removed the CMD file from my previous message, so I'll repost it here: @ECHO OFF CLS SETLOCAL ENABLEEXTENSIONS ENABLEDELAYEDEXPANSION TITLE Windows Messenger Removal Script ECHO. ECHO Removing Windows Messenger... START /WAIT RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove ECHO. ECHO Windows Messenger successfully removed! GOTO EOF :EOF -- Super-Magician
  11. Oh, OK then. Didn't realize that. Time to scrap that idea ! Of course, that's why I'm removing it .Hmmm...this thread seems to be getting quite long ... -- Super-Magician
  12. FDV: Do you think you could change the link to Tomcat's XP page to http://users.telenet.be/tc76/winup/_winxp.html? Right now, you have to click twice to reach it. [question removed; script for removing Windows Messenger reposted below] -- Super-Magician
  13. fdv, your page on HFSLIP for XP/2003 now says "updated on March 20, 2005", but it is 2006 . By the way, what did you update on that page?
  14. Greetings, tacoeater, and welcome to the forum ! HFSLIP runs on a clean source. That means you need to have the original SOURCE folder present and rerun HFSLIP with the new hotfixes as well as the old ones in the HF folder. Hope this helps . Yes you have !- Super-Magician
  15. FDV is here once in a while. But the rest are indeed MIA.
  16. When you say "main Win2k install," are you referring to a clean source or one that is HFSLIPed?The 2003 version of makecab must be dated as such since the files on all official setup CDs have the same date and time. The downloadable one is probably the same exact file as the one from the CD. Do they have the same file sizes?
  17. I remember something with DX9 was fixed/resolved, but I'm not sure if this was it. Tomcat's in this thread, so he might be able to help. Edit: Yes, I remember now. What Tomcat said below .
  18. You do need the ident file, but not WIN51IP.SP1. You need WIN51IP.SP2 since your installation now has SP2. Windows uses this file, among others, to check the service pack level of your CD. [attachment removed]
  19. OK. Did you read jaclaz's post above?
  20. pfunk06 - I see that you are using a WINNT.SIF file in your setup. Try installing without it. Tomcat76 - To me, it does not seem as if pfunk06 would be trying to add stuff into txtsetup.sif at this point. Also, his/her error message does not say anything about a second CD. jaclaz - Ah, I had not realized that. Yes, that could indeed be the case.
  21. Does your volume-license media have SP2 slipstreamed? HFSLIP will only work with sources that have SP1 or SP2. For the HFNETCHK, you would only be able to run that after Windows installs successfully, so never mind about it.
  22. EmRoD - would you mind attaching or giving me a link to that SFX file? Thanks, Super-Magician
