  1. OK. Take your time !
  2. Camarade_Tux, Where did you get the package in your FIX folder? First of all, that package should not be in there at all because files in the FIX folder are copied directly to I386 at the end of the slipstreaming process without modification. Can't help you with why there's more files in one than the other.
  3. SURGE, don't use RyanVM's .NET 2.0 installer. As a matter of fact, don't use anyone's. .NET 2.0 cannot be slipstreamed/integrated via SVCPACK or GUIRunOnce like the other installers. They will not work. However, I believe that Zxian's installer for .NET 2.0 does in fact work. You'd have to search for it; I don't have an exact link ready for you.
  4. EmRoD, I made a thread/topic for that. Just drop the "Apr2006_d3dx9_30_x86.cab" file into HFCABS, like for the previous DirectX for Managed Code updates.(Just FYI, nothing will happen if you drop the XInput or XACT cabs into there as they aren't processed by HFSLIP.) @Tomcat, did you receive the PM I sent you yesterday? It was just regarding the new hotfixes; you can actually disregard it now. I do have another question - will you be updating your update pages? I'd like to have a straight-forward list of what new hotfixes are needed and for which OS they are.
  5. @tommyp, Are you talking about the time zone hotfixes? Apparently Microsoft thought some companies might need to mass change time zones on computers, I guess.
  6. @Tomcat (or anyone), Do you know if any of the hotfixes released today supersede ones previously released? KB912812 (IE) KB911562 KB908531 KB911567 (OE) Also - are you going to be updating your update lists?
  7. Just a quick tidbit: Microsoft released two hotfixes to change the time zone on many computers at once to GMT-05:00 and GMT-06:00. However, those can only be obtained directly from Microsoft (i.e. they cannot be downloaded).
  8. Thanks, Siginet. By the way, I know you said this version is *supposed to be* faster, but when I ran it, it wasn't much speedier. Another thing - I actually liked the pop-up windows when the PowerPacker was hex-editing the boot files because it was an indication that the program was working effectively. But...that's just me .
  9. Also, I think there should be a "Cancel" button somewhere when the program is working. Right now, you can only exit. When I was talking about the powpack.ini file, I was saying that I deleted the one that automatically popped up when I launched the program, as it had all of your settings in it and I wanted to start fresh. I did not use an old settings file. I did recheck all of my settings, but as I said, my Extra Pack Files weren't being copied correctly. I think everything else worked though. The progress bar looks fine. I'd like to see the files completed section again (i.e. 5123/6457) instead of just 85% or something. Aren't you switching to mkisofs?
  10. Kiki, see my post in the Test releases topic. IIRC, the .NET Framework 2.0 cannot be installed via SVCPACK or GUIRunOnce. However, I do believe someone said that Zxian's installer, which you downloaded, should work. I think Tomcat should know more. (BTW, .NET 2.0 is completely different from .NET 1.1)
  11. It's already added, dziubek. In the script, Tomcat wrote IF /I "%THACATS%"=="Y" SET DELCATS=1 The /I switch results in a case insensitive comparison. So "y" should work as well as "Y". Not sure if someone answered your question yet, but to remove the CAT files, you need the modified SFC*.DLL in FIX (of course, use the correct one for your OS). After the multiboot path screen, the script will ask you whether to remove the catalogs.
  12. This topic is outdated. Source: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...in/advance.mspx As part of the monthly security bulletin release cycle, Microsoft provides advance notification to our customers on the number of new security updates being released, the products affected, the aggregate maximum severity and information about detection tools relevant to the update. This is intended to help our customers plan for the deployment of these security updates more effectively. In addition, to help customers prioritize monthly security updates with any non-security updates released on Microsoft Update, Windows Update, Windows Server Update Services and Software Update Services on the same day as the monthly security bulletins, we also provide: •Information about the release of updated versions of the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. •Information about the release of NON-SECURITY, High Priority updates on Microsoft Update (MU), Windows Update (WU), Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and Software Update Services (SUS). Note that this information will pertain ONLY to updates on Microsoft Update, Windows Update, Windows Server Update Services and Software Update Services and only about High Priority, non-security updates being released on the same day as security updates. Information will NOT be provided about Non-security updates released on other days. On 11 April 2006 Microsoft is planning to release: Security Updates •Four Microsoft Security Bulletin affecting Microsoft Windows. The highest Maximum Severity rating for these is Critical. Some of these updates will require a restart. These updates will be detectable using the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer and the Enterprise Scan Tool. One of the updates will be a cumulative Internet Explorer update that addresses the publicly known "CreateTextRange" vulnerability. •One Microsoft Security Bulletin affecting Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows. The highest Maximum Severity rating for this is Moderate. These updates may require a restart. These updates will be detectable using the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer and the Enterprise Scanning Tool. Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool •Microsoft will release an updated version of the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool on Windows Update, Microsoft Update, Windows Server Update Services and the Download Center. Although we do not anticipate any changes, the number of bulletins, products affected, restart information and severities are subject to change until released. Microsoft will host a webcast next week to address customer questions on these bulletins. For more information on this webcast please see below: •TechNet Webcast: Information About Microsoft April Security Bulletins (Level 200) •Wednesday, 12 April 2006 11:00 AM (GMT-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada) •http://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/EventDet...4&Culture=en-US At this time no additional information on these bulletins such as details regarding severity or details regarding the vulnerability will be made available until 11 April 2006.
  13. So, are we just about ready for another final ? But don't forget - tomorrow's Patch Tuesday ! Another round of hotfix troubleshooting coming up ! I will test this version. I don't think you should release another final until we make sure the five new hotfixes don't clash with HFSLIP.
  14. I'm testing the beta release now. It hangs forever on generating a boot directory (XOPC). I'm attaching my powpack.ini file in case you want to look at it. Also, the "Browse" button for the Extra Pack Files stays active after you press the "Pack" button. Edit: Actually, this was my own doing. I deleted the powpack.ini to start over with new settings but something got messed up. There is one remaining problem, however. The Extra Pack Files I selected did not copy over.
  15. Thanks for releasing a beta! I'll test it and let you know how it goes... -- Super-Magician
  16. Thanks for implementing my requests. HFSLIP.LOG sounds great. However, the names "HFSVCPACK" and "HFSVCPACK_SW" sound a bit too lengthy. Now that I think about it, I think the original names were fine. How about renaming HFSPACK to something?Edit: By the way, not to be annoying or anything, make sure you first get tommyp's approval for changing the names of the folders. FDV's site and your update pages would also need to be revised if they do get in.
  17. Thanks for the feedback, EmRoD! One odd thing about the naming of this hotfix is that "ENU" and "x86" are reversed compared to other MS hotfixes for XP . Anyone here ready for MS Patch Tuesday tomorrow ?
  18. Ah, OK, I get your explanation. But read my edited post above.
  19. Why don't I try comparing the DLL in the two files? There is no other version of LegitCheckControl.cab, AFAIK. Edit: Comparison using FSUM complete. Two DLLs are identical. See reports. Regarding the INF file - The language displayed for WGA does not depend on the DLL/installer/INF. What might Setup mess with if the INF file was installed on a non-English system?
  20. The file I linked to contains the same DLL (LegitCheckControl.dll) as is present in LegitCheckControl.cab. If the one in the CAB file is multilingual, then so is the one in the EXE file. Download it to see for yourself !
  21. I found an EXE installer for the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130). It can be downloaded here. URL: http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/windowsxp-kb892130-enu-x86_7e1189ce89fb0c693cad6432a4c2f982dcea49a0.exe Is it compatible with HFSLIP? Inside, it looks just like any other hotfix. Plus, if people include this instead of that CAB file, we can remove some lines in the script .
  22. @Tomcat76 More possible changes: 1. Update startup screens in HFSLIP with relevant new info. By this, I mean for newly added changes/updates. For example, the file and folder format list (third screen) should have HFSPACK listed in it. 2. Rename HFSVPK (and ultimately HFSVPK_SW) to something that doesn't have people confuse it with HFSPACK when they want to slipstream a service pack. The two names are very similar, and are indeed if spelled out. 3. Possibly permanently rename the ERROR_REPORT to HFSLIP, like it is in SOURCESS. But only if you see a need and if other people support this. If you do so, however, you would need to change the documentation. *I guess this will happen eventually, but for now, we can just let it be.
  23. Plus, people who just NEVER read directions.
