The log file is written to your root HFSLIP directory after HFSLIP completes; another copy resides in SOURCESS. The file is named HFSLIP.LOG. Please post the file in ZIP format.
-
For the main CAB files (like DRIVER.CAB and SPX.CAB), HFSLIP uses the Diamond Directive File (DDF). I don't remember if this is also true about files from HFEXPERT or the like.

Windows Update not working for Windows Server 2003
Super-Magician replied to zedox's topic in HFSLIP
If you do not wish to use Microsoft Update but simply Windows Update, the MUWEB_SITE.CAB file is not necessary. Try running HFSLIP again without it. -
Are you running a current version of HFSLIP? Please zip up and post your log file. If you receive a "Not a valid Win32 application" error message, your hotfix is likely corrupt. Try redownloading it. The WORK folder remains if the HFSLIP program is interrupted and closed. HFSLIP should automatically remove it on the next run.

I apologize for the lack of updates on this list and my other list of checksums. I'll probably get it done by next month.

Can the hfslip folder be reused for later updates

Can the hfslip folder be reused for later updates
Super-Magician replied to mosaddique's topic in HFSLIP
Hello, mosaddique. The answer to all of your questions is "yes, you can reuse the directory structure." HFSLIP does not modify the contents of any directory except the temporary directories it creates while the program is running (which are then deleted afterwards) and the SOURCESS directory, which contains the final product. -
@Tomcat76, I'm not quite sure where to post this as your update topics are no longer pinned. Anyway, why is KB935448 on your list and KB928843 removed? As far as I can tell, KB935448 isn't on Windows Update, although do I understand it fixes problems people may have after installing KB925902 (MS07-017).

Hello, oao! The reason why you must use the XP version of some hotfixes when slipstreaming 2000 with HFSLIP is simple. The XP version is easier to handle and/or the 2000 version has a few problems in its construction. Only MSXML 2, 4, and 6 are supported. However, only very specific versions of each are. Please read through one of the links at hfslip.org for more info.

Yes, that is true, PVU.

Hey, FDV! This is great, thanks!!
-
Thank you, dziubek. Microsoft also released an out-of-cycle security update yesterday to patch the vulnerability in Windows Animated Cursor (.ANI) handling. Microsoft Security Bulletin MS07-017 (KB925902)

Guess I gave you something to do!

@S3pHiroTh, according to his site, Xable does not appreciate it when other people link directly to his files. Please use the main page instead.

How to move folders to windows\temp wihthout using $oem$, pl
Super-Magician replied to wing_bbs's topic in HFSLIP
Actually, wing_bbs, I suggest you read about HFSLIP's HFEXPERT feature. In your case, you would copy your files to HFEXPERT\WIN\TEMP (after creating these folders manually in your HFSLIP directory). HFSLIP will add the necessary entries to TXTSETUP.SIF and DOSNET.INF automatically, but make sure you don't use names that coincide with existing files. -
Wow. This has to be the most asked-about hotfix here! I've seen so many posts on this...so please search before asking!
-
@jimmsta, have you tried restarting after IE7 installation is completed? Try reading through http://www.hfslip.org, and as the_guy said, please post your HFSLIP.LOG file. You see a bunch of desktop.ini files because for some reason a setting in Folder Options is unchecked (Folder Options -> View -> Hide protected operating system files).
-
For Windows 2000, HFSLIP will automatically move the file to HFGUIRUNONCE if it exists in HF. For all others, it will be moved to HFSVCPACK_SW.

I stand corrected regarding KB932590. Microsoft has just made it available. FIX: Windows-based applications that use the TZ environment variable may not work as expected because of changes to DST However, as the Knowledge Base article states, it still does not replace any previous updates.
-
@sabregreen, I advise you to read the introduction screens to HFSLIP more closely. The authors (TommyP and Tomcat76) do not provide support for HFSLIP in a corporate environment. As you will see there as well as in the log file generated after each run, HFSLIP is for personal use only!
-
Never mind, glentium; as Tomcat76 said, the actual file hasn't been updated. Thanks anyway.
-
HFSLIP slipstreams most updates meaning the updated binaries are immediately available for use on your new CD (SOURCESS folder). Therefore, no entries will show up in Add/Remove Programs because only the updated binaries are copied over, and those entries are only added by the actual installer for each hotfix. What you will see, however, as a confirmation that HFSLIP has slipstreamed the hotfixes is an entry titled simply "HFSLIP Total Slipstream", followed by the version number in parentheses.
-
Thanks, glentium. @S3pHiroTh: KB932590 is not a cumulative update nor is it a public hotfix. Therefore, it does not replace any prior update. In addition, it only applies if you need to run applications using the TZ environment variable. Since it has not been released for public download, I doubt that it is necessary for most users.

Maybe PM is a better place to ask, but can you tell me what you had to change to fix it? I noticed this on another forum, and it seems to happen when you have unread messages and delete them before reading. To me, it seemed more an IPB bug rather than a per-forum issue.
