Something is not right. I just ran 70202b again, which worked before. Now I get the same error. What's wrong?

@Tomcat76 I still have no idea what's going on with my installation. I get four files in HFSLPGUI, but they aren't the ones you say should be there. This is what I see. HFGUI1.EXE HFGUI2.EXE IE7_INST.EXE PSHELL.EXE

(1) Yes; a previous version worked with these files. (2) Yes. (3) Yes, once. (4) Yes. Everything seems to be OK, except for that one error. When I take a look inside C:\WINDOWS\HFSLPGUI, I discover that there's only four files (see my HFSLIP.LOG file below), none of which are HFSLPGUI.INF. P.S. The driver files should not affect it in anyway because I have not changed them since my last successful run a few days ago.

Same exact error message with 70205a.

I'll see if 70202b creates the same problem.

In my second test using 70203b, I've just encountered the same problem denoted above.

The [ROROE] section is fine. Everything is as it's supposed to be there.

@tommyp, could that have something to do with the bug I reported on page 71, which seems to have gone unnoticed?

Thanks for that and 70203b as well. I think there's a bug. I tested 70203a in a VM. The first time I ran it my power got interrupted while it was installing, so that may be a factor. However, it occurred during GUI-mode setup, not txtmode copy. After I restarted setup, I got a bunch of error boxes saying the HFSLPxxx.INF files were missing from C:\WINDOWS\HFSLIP. I then reverted back to a snapshot of a clean VM. Right before T-13, I got another Advanced INF Install message, but this time HFSLPGUI.INF was missing. A bit problematic, don't you think? I didn't change a single thing in my folder structure from my last successful run except to introduce rootsupd.exe and the Feb 2007 update for DirectX, readd IE7, and update KB905474. I can still post my HFSLIP.LOG file if you want, but I don't think it will help much.

I've found a standalone version of WGA Notifications (KB905474) on Microsoft Download Center. I don't know if it's still offered on Windows Update, so I'd appreciate it if someone would check for me. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en This version should be extracted first. It's newer than the one currently on Tomcat's update lists.

Actually, I meant to run the test release for kenlau to see if the IE7 part works. I guess I can wait a little longer for the new one. Thanks. Edit: ...which I guess has just arrived in the last second.

@S3pHiroTh, Windows Defender can't be installed at T-13. I've tried it with the MSI and a switchless installer. Put the file in HFGUIRUNONCE instead.

@S3pHiroTh, you mean the root directory of the drive? Yes, I guess that would be a limitation of HFEXPERT. I'm sure it will be added at some point in the future, however.

The link is actually http://www.hfslip.org/advanced.html#a3. This already exists. The entire SOURCE folder is ALWAYS copied to SOURCESS. No. I think you should read about the many features HFEXPERT has to offer. It works perfectly for me. Follow the above link.

You can always try HFEXPERT too...

(1) At the moment, there is no way to replace boot.ini, unless the $OEM$ folder has such a function to place a file in the root of your drive. (2) INI files cannot be slipstreamed. If you want to put it in a certain folder, read about it here, but keep in mind, only the folders listed are supported for HFEXPERT. (3) Hotfixes using the /Q switch (Type 2) still belong in HF. (4) The ISO name is defined under ISONAME in HFANSWER.INI. You should be able to enter a path there, but paths aren't really a "supported" feature, so make sure you know what you're defining.
