i read wikipedia and even used maketorrent before but i mean that's the basics. i want to know tricks and tipps on how to find the best tracker and info if trackerless torrents are okay or if you'd rather insist on using a tracker. in maketorrent, i couldn't find the dht settings for trackerless torrents? saraband, i can make mininova my tracker and it'll accept?

okay, so i made a video and it went up on a site but apparently, they've turned into a "must donate to download" thing. www.cyberfanatix.com the admin told me any other way of free distribution is fine. only people who wish to use their bandwidth have to pay. so i was thinking of torrenting the video. how do i do this? i could possibly get someone to install a tracker on his ftp for me but is it really essential? i've heard torrents can also run trackerless? is that disadvantageous? what tool shall i use to create the torrent? "make torrent" ? (i wonder if there's anything else) what tracker is best for me? i'm grateful for your help.

okay, i got it by now. offline messages, i have used this feature on someone with msn messenger v7.5 and he received my messages. fantastic addition. i guess there's no reason to use icq any longer now. one thing i miss is to quickly copy a contact's email address to clipboard. say you're chatting with someone who's asking you for person x' messenger identity and you are going to give it to him. the way i'm doing it is; highlight contact > send email > copy address from email client > paste into chat window with the other guy. quite tedious. is there a way to do this quicker and easier?

i use vlc only for playing dvds. as for a mediaplayer, i use zoomplayer. not freeware though. codecs; combined community codec pack (aka "the only") real alternative quicktime alternative windowsmedia lite

shark007, this is very nice. i have a few more pet peeves concerning msn and i'm positive you could help me. 1) it won't sign me in automatically, even if i have the related box checked 2) i remove the groups "coworkers", "family" and "friends" and next time i run msn they have been re-created. 3) in message windows; remove "my received files", "see a list of activities" and "see a list of games" how could i myself remove those? are you also doing this for other messengers like icq or aim by chance? edit;nevermind, i just found a-patch, heh.

i don't have wmp either. the only directshow player i use is zoomplayer and as soon as i install real alternative it plays anything real. maybe you have "kazaa codec pack" installed or so? that thing is evilness personified. get rid of it while you can. it's often causing codec trouble. aac has nothing to do with it, i don't think.

haven't used any of the above, i just know i've always liked "jv16 powertools".

real alternative is what you need. it let's you install the rm (realmedia) splitter and decoders needed for a directshow player like "windows media player" to play rm files. --> http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/finalbuilds.htm#realalt ps. the same exists for quicktime and windowsmedia, by the way.

i doubt you need quicktime alternative but i'm not 100% sure.

Bâshrat the Sneaky i have your problem exactly. using quicktime alternative myself and i don't want to install quicktime. i found an itunes v6.0.0.18 on google were fans managed to take out the quicktime component. i'm using it and it works fine for me. however, the newest version of itunes is, as i'm positive you know, v6.0.1 and i could not find that one without quicktime either in case you're interested in v6.0.0.18, you can get it from me, of course.
