Sorry I misread your post. stupid me.
-
Do you mean you try to manage users from other computers that are in the same work group ? (I can't answer that one but it woud just make the question clearer )
-
No. Software problems are not solved by hardware replacement.
-
Have you tried to "CtrlAltDel" twice at that time to get back to default language/keyboard or check in the 1st box (login) if the keyboard is giving the good character for your password ? As for not auto-login, it must be "an" update.
-
Can you leave it on Bios screen for some time on "high power" to be sure it's not a software problem ? The cold air could indicate that the radiator is not properly set on the CPU.
-
because you "remove" the components so I suppose you don't need the file anyway. The nLite CD is "not expecting" the file to be there.
-
There might be a reason. Or maybe your father said he wouldn' pay. Check the CPU fan is running and the air paths are free. If the blown air is cold, it's not good either. Is there any temperature indication in the Bios ?

1st Welcome to the forums. And at step 4. of your guide, did you see this on your screen: 5. nLite is free for personal use only, you cannot use it for any company or business purposes at this time. and did you click "I accept" or "I do not accept" ? At step 8, are you sure you selected "Make Iso" ? Step 15's picture is not really a step, it's the working state after you click "yes" to "Do you want to start the process". This leads you directly to picture "step 16", without interaction. I can't remember what happens when you don't select "Make ISO" at 8. but possibly what you describe.

nLite is not an imaging software. No part of the running OS is "transfered" to the new CD. The running installation, as long as the OS is compatible, has no effect on the result. nLite mainly transforms a cd into an other, adding or removing (depending on checked options) drivers, patches, updates, silent installers, etc. , and in a broad way, the new CD still acts as a (MS)Windows XP installation CD, that's to say, it will install to the drive you choose at 1st boot. I hope this confirms my 1st answser to your question.
-
If I get it and your question refers only to "running nLite", the answer is "no". To adress your first problem, it is most likely that you could have (physically) disconnected your other drives before install and so solved your problem (reconnecting them after install of course). This can be usefull next time you install.

... if slipstreamed with nLite, are you sure no component were removed in the process ? (some people like to slim down a lot). yo...the last session file (on my first post) lists the components removed. Yea, I could see that, I read the 1st post before answering. Because it's christmas I'll retry. You went from Gold to SP3, then from SP3 to a system that has no Bluetooth nor Card Reader support. Are you sure that is not removed in the 1st step ? Have you tried installing your SP3 cd and see if Bluetooth works ? As to be sure the problem comes from the nLite modifications.

I don't know wether you've heard that or you think you read it somewhere but it's incorrect. See answers above on difference between slipstreaming a SP to an installation disc and updating a running system to a given SP. It's not even clear if SP1 must be "installed" before SP3 as some page says so on MS's site but some others don't. "Trusting" people on this one is not very scientific either. I guess somebody will come with a real answer sometime.

.. quoting myself I meant if you skip OOBE in XP Home, you need to enter that one user name IN THE UNATTENDED SECTION.
-
If you don't have a VLK version or a preactivated OEM version, you need to keep OOBE (in the components removal). I'm not sure about skipping it (in Unattended section), I think you can. Still for XP HOME, you then need to enter at least one additional user that will serve as "user1" or "owner" or whatver you name the 1st user at OOBE.
-
It's been reported years ago. I don't know if fixing is too difficult or if it's considered very low priority.
-
(Obviously) nothing from the manufacturer ?
-
"vague" is the word.

-
Do you mean you created an install that cannot be "activated" ?
-
I can't see any case of nLite simply "refusing" to run on a valid installation. Do you get any error message during the drivers integration step ? Or maybe you remove components that are needed for those drivers to run properly. Were you able to install those same drivers on the running machine after that same install ?
-
Yes I've had that problem to and could not find out yet exactly when/why it happens or not. But it was only 10 seconds of annoyance. -Be sure the name of the "_u" file is exactly the same as the "last session" file (but then you'd see none of the settings are imported) "Last session.ini" & "Last session_u.ini" renaming GOOD example: "My PC Last session 1st try.ini" & "My PC Last session 1st try_u.ini" BAD example: "My PC Last session_u 1st try.ini" -start from the fresh set of files.

1. Is your XP SP3 cd an original (MS) cd ? 2. Have you installed all your chipset/mobo drivers yet ?
-
1.Welcome to the forum. 2. Imagine all threads tittled "Help", "I have a problem", "Doesn't work",... please read the forum rules and get yourself a proper thread tittle. 3. nLite doesn't "produce" a Microsoft Windows XP install cd, as one could think, that would be illegal (and very impressive for a 2Megabyte program ), it "modifies" an existing cd to make a new one with added/modified and/or removed components, so indeed, you need an original cd to start with. That makes sense.

Is your original request not about getting info from people who've "been there" ? You already opened an other post about problems with your install and some can see where you are going. If your only goal is to make it smaller and reinstall again and again each time, you have lost more time with your 6 CD than you'll ever going to get back from a faster XP (if it is). You understand that there is not much point to it and that people will not invest time in helping you getting nowhere. That's probably what HowdyDoody meant. Now for something positive: That is not the slimmest of media players.Cheers.
