  1. Again, ... Do you have IE7 or IE8 installed on your XPHome?
  2. Cheap (1Gig sticks) DDR1 is not easy to find either.
  3. "Began" ? It's been so since the beginning, they even infiltrated us with propaganda agents... From an other thread: That is the advised approach. The original theory of MS is that you have one (and only one) primary partition and one (and in this case only one is possible anyway) extended partition containing all the other volumes. One primary partition, one boot possibility, one OS to rule them all.
  4. I don't really understand your question. The correct in file is the one that lists your device as "PCI\VEN_....". For your Raltek audio AC97, get it from here. When you point to an inf file, nLite integrates all inf files from the same folder, so you don't have to open all inf files to check. nLite does that also because some devices have more functions and require more inf files.
  5. This (drmk.sys) is a Microsoft driver, it is included in XP, that's why it is not included in Realtek's package but still needed and listed as driver for your card.
  6. Just so the OP doesn't get confused, it looks like the tool you pointed to doesn't require an iso but just the plain set of install files, which he should have (but obviously with a twist leading to unsuccessful attempts till now).
  7. As just posted by Submix8c, you can't remove a Service Pack with nLite. And you don' add them "as KB" (?) but through "Service Pack" (1st option in main menu). +The zip file I pointed to does contain (amongst many others) the .inf files -X- packed for you. But the the Intel file (852.inf) says "DriverVer=08/25/2003, 5.1.0.1006" while the Acer file is older (DriverVer=11/05/2002, 4.30.1005). For each driver on the Acer page, you are better off checking the device manufacturer's site for possible updates.
  8. In mine your question is pointless, so you deserve no respect. Is that how it works ? I don't think so. Please read the forum rules, especially 7b.
  9. Link contains 1 character too much. I could extract setup and .cat files for XP but no .inf. A txt file begins with that: ********************************************************* * Product: Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility * Release: Production Version * Version: 4.30.1006 * Target Chipset#: Intel® 82852/82855 GM/GME Chipset * Date: December 12, 2002 ********************************************************* So you can get the inf files from Intel, download the zip file here.
  10. to Submix8c; that bit was for TEST. to rjolbrich; Aside the fact using double negatives confuses people ( "it's not working... not on the clean install" means "it is well working on the clean install") is the clean install performed with the same XP Home version as you have on your running system (same install cd) ?
  11. Reminds me of this flame.
  12. I might get more and more confused here (still need some sleep) but... is it not what the OP tries to do ? An upgrade of his running (but not "clean/out of the box") XP Home SP3 ?
  13. IE7 or IE8 on your running XP Home might be problem as well. Try integrating IE8 to your XP Pro SP3 with the addon you can make from this site and use it in the "Hotfixes addons and UpdatePacks" menu. Note that ONLY integrating SP3 (with nLite or manually) on a clean source is not considered "altering the source" so you can go from there to proceed with nLite.
  14. Basically you are still going on with your same question, why don't you just go on in your 1st thread ???? Read this guide, RunOnce is described in Intermediate Users's part.
  15. I'll try (again). It is not clear why you should (or should not) be using nLite, I think the first problem is the fact that Windows XP Home might not be "qualifying" for upgrade to Windows XP Pro. Maybe someone can confirm this.
  16. Is this all following an unconventional attempt at running nLite on "some" existing folders of the hard drive ?
  17. Have you really done that "without problem" or do you then run into the mess you describe further ? You are obviously not starting from an original cd... are you by any chance running nLite with your running XP (whatever SP or MUI) on C:\ as source files ???
  18. All that still doesn't explain your old HDD failing to boot. But anyway, you are probably better off now with a clean install on a faster drive.
  19. Lots depends on the service pack level of your Win2k boot disk, your Parted Magic version (if it's as old as your OS disk), also your hardware (if as old as the software), motherboard and its Bios version. And if IDE, have you checked the jumper settings ? Partition scheme; is D a primary partition or part of a bigger extended partition ? Do you have the possibility to check both drives on an other machine ? The fact they both fail "after few hours" is a bit suspect. First, how does Bios report the disk(s) ?
  20. Given the fact nLite is for personal use only, why don't you concentrate on the machines you have ?
  21. That is quite a poor description of your problem, if I may say. We still don't know what is really stopping you. Also please attach your "Last session.ini" file. What do you mean by "XP Gold", it's an ambiguous concept. I don't know what you are hoping to gain from your "upgrade" (other than a clean install).
  22. Please attach your last session.ini so we have an idea what you really did in nLite. Also what cd exactly do you start with ?
  23. What's written on the label of the physical media ?
  24. Double posting is not going to help. Reading the answer in the 1st thread and answering the question might.
  25. Please tell for what device you get that message and state the exact message. I take it you get the drivers from HP's site.
