  1. iv always though about this type of thing but never got round to it. nice work board babe!
  2. Hi all, im on Xp Pro, does anyone know of a way to disable saving to the desktop? im sick of it becoming a dumping ground lol. thanks Please NOW in Microsoft Windows XP section, use [TAGS] in your topic's title. See rules. --Sonic
  3. Thats scares me a bit. I can imaging people having boot problems because they didnt add an image in the correct format (bitmap with 16 colors pallette) well maybe you could have a huge disclaimer on it then if they break it, its their own fault. but seriously that kind of functionality would top off xpize cheers
  4. so traffic destined for port 3389 is correctly forwarded to the ip of the machine, and remote desktop is enabled on the machine? also check if it is added as an exception in the firewall this should definatly work if you have all this correct
  5. double click the grey area of task manager
  6. is the server a domain controller? has the client been added to the domain? thanks
  7. yeah if you shutdown any of the svchost process' for example it would cause a reboot to initiate. i like your thinking on this cause it wud be nice to do a 'soft' reboot but i dont think its possible :/
  8. sorry i ment to say what exactly is your setup, i just wanted to create a mental map of your situation and then from a tracert we could determine where the problem may be
  9. what exactly in your setup? and once your problem occurs how far does a tracert get you? thanks
  10. excellent! gotta try this, god i love it when things configure themselves!
  11. hey chilifrei64 what do you mean by an installation package? it would be helpful to know how to do this, is it server/client side? thanks
  12. also you cant buy it off the shelf you have to get it specially and you have to tell MS what hardware its going on and also you can only use drivers on it digitally signed by MS. also if i remember correctly the guaranteed uptime is 99.9999% or equivalent to 5mins unexpected downtime a year and it also supports upto 512GB of Ram in 64-bit environments and i believe it supports 128 processors in 64-bit (although it has to be partitioned into 2 64 processor platforms) and also as cluberti mentioned - 8 node clustering
  13. install outlook on a few computers make a few users in AD and create them mailboxes, try sending mail to each other, you could try creating a few public folders, theres not a great lot you can do with exchange straight off, its only when you need to block certain domains from sending to you, stuff like this when it takes a bit of knowledge. but most can be found through www.slipstick.com its a great exchange resource also you could try setting up OWA (outlook web access) and OMA (outlook mobile access) both can be accessed internally and externally using your internal/external ip so theres something to try other than this i cant think of much else to do with it straight off
  14. i have never set it up this way i have always used a switch and therefore only the router was doing any NAT(ing) i suspect your problem stems from the fact that two devices are NAT(ing) address's also i noticed you have DHCP on the router, disable this and give your server 2 static IP's as from your post i understand it has 2 NIC. to access the internet via the server ICS will have to be used, i think its in the RRAS admin tool, not too sure tho maybe someone can clarify that. other than this i cant say much except get the server accessing the net first then move onto the clients good luck!
  15. i once installed windows on F: and if i tried to change drive letter in compmgmt then it wouldnt let me. why it has let you i dont know, but you shouldnt be able to do that. reinstall or restore id say its the only way
  16. the next version should have the option to choose a custom jpg/bmp for your bootscreen. that would be awesome!
  17. yes its not needed but to account for future growth and expansion it should definatly be implemented
  18. speaking from experience here, it is a lot better to ensure that all users have the same drive letter for the same shares that way when somebody rings up and says "i cant see f: drive!" or "i havent got access to XYZ in z: drive) you will be able to fix the problem much quicker just my 2 cents
  19. do you mean add programs to the startup folder? if so you could use a batch with xcopy in to copy the program to the allusers profile or do you mean you need to know how to get it to actually create the shortcut?
  20. holy crap! i need to start backing up all the important stuff that is on my flash pen!
  21. great tool! thank you
  22. hmmm... same thing on mine too, its just grayed out, i dont even like the language bar so it doesnt bother me, maybe someone else knows how to fix this?
  23. ok if you open the control panel do you have "regional and language options" in there?
  24. maybe you should read the unattended guide to get an understanding of how to create an unattended cd, what nlite does is basically make this process a whole lot easier
