  1. remember: windows will silently use stored passwords before your current credentials. Go to start > run > type: Control keymgr.dll Delete any stored passwords, and try again
  2. just down shift key on startup to bypass startup items. Try to change the IE proxy. Try to change dns server to bypass any filtering. If locked down try to open windows help, then search for games, you can open notepad that way. There's lots of ways around restrictions.
  3. i used to do tech support for microsoft. I supported both windows 95 and windows 98 for microsoft. I have a lot of experience in both. under the hood windows 98 has a lot of improvements over windows 95. Once of the biggest is the registry. In windows 95 there was only 1 backup of the registry - once you booted to the desktop if was overwritten. That means if u had a corrupt registry but could boot do the desktop you were screwed. Add to that Dllhell, memory limitations, and u got problems. One of the biggest was IE. When you reinstalled windows 95 it tried to reinstall IE 3 that came with windows 95. The result would be a ton of errors and a hybrie IE that was half ie3 and half ie 5.5. Windows 98 fixed this issue. Most people never knew this, but windows 98 used migration dll's. When you installed ie 5.5 and reinstalled windows 98, ie was NOT reinstalled because it saw the migration dll. You had to delete the migration dll's to reinstall ie. No one knew this so many people reinstalled without realising that nothing would happen....
  4. if u have windows 98 why bother with windows 95 man? Windows 98 beta was much better than crappy '95
  5. SQL 2008 r2 is being released in May, and VS 2010 is being released in April. Reference: http://blogs.technet.com/dataplatforminsid...icial-date.aspx
  6. ince the dawn of time, Windows PE (WinPE) has not had any support for the 802.1x authentication protocol. This meant that any network deployment of Windows via a network secured with 802.1x was a non-starter, causing headaches for a few on my customers; I actually had one customer that ran new network cables to a majority of the desks in order to be able to deploy Windows XP over the network. However, thanks in part to a colleague of mine who worked on this, Microsoft has released hotfixes that now add 802.1x support to both WinPE 2.1 and WinPE 3.0. You can get the hotfixes and further information at the below links: WinPE 2.1: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975483 WinPE 3.0: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972831
  7. I bought cubs tickets for Cubs vs Rockies. Got nice seats although they arent shaded. I might also get tickets for Cubs vs Diamondbacks
  8. ProcDump v1.7: This update to ProcDump, a command-line utility that will generate memory dumps of processes based on various selectable criteria, now supports periodic timed dumps as well as dumps based on virtual memory thresholds. AccessChk v4.24: AccessChk, a utility that shows effective security permissions for files, registry keys, services, and more, now supports process tokens. Sigcheck v1.64: This release adds reporting for more signature verification errors. Desktops v1.01: This fixes a bug that prevented Desktops from launching Explorer on secondary desktops when run on 64-bit Windows 7. LiveKd v3.13: LiveKd works around a bug in Windbg’s analysis engine that could cause Windbg to hang for several minutes when launched from Livekd.

  10. First step is always to update the BIOS. Windows 7 only supports ACPI. You have to have a compatible BIOS for power options in windows 7 to work. Update the BIOS and go from there. Also check windows event viewer, usually itll say if your BIOS is out of date.
  11. Here's a pic of my AIO ISO. It has every version of windows 7/ server 2008 r2. Only 3.91 gigs. When i get time im going to write a guide. Im thinking of putting it on my site too along with other useful information.
  12. Andre don't criticize someone unless you've actually done what was said. It's very obvious you didn't bother trying my tweak. It makes you look ignorant criticizing someone when you don't know what they're talking about I'm really surprised at the hate. I take time to post things I find interesting, and I get no thanks, no "I found this useful". Neowin just posted this tweak on their site. A lot of appreciated comments there
  13. Spring training tickets go on sale here soon, i cant wait Last year i saw the Rockies play the cubs, it was a good game. I saw the white sox in spring training after they won the world series Any baseball fans here ?
  14. I thought business could only go to enterprise? Either way its on microsofts website search and you will find
  15. It sounds like a drive overlay is on the system. You didnt say if this is an OEM version of windows. if so, you probably have oem code in the boot loader. Best bet would be to wipe the hard drive with 1's and 0's then try this again.
  16. I upgraded my home computer from server 2008 sp2 x64 to server 2008 r2 x64. No problems at all. Works great. (the reason i run a domain at home is for my VM's and software i install that requires a domain such as system center configuration mgr). The only limitation i believe is you cant uninstall the upgrade, it's a one way street.
  17. In 2009 i passed these M$ tests: 70-640, 70-620, 70-643, 70-642, 70-647, 70-236, 70-237, 70-238, 70-630, 70-652, 70-685, 70-432, 70-450, 70-680 I used to work for M$ so i just self studied. Once you work for M$ you understand how they think, so you can guess what to study. For a novice instructor led training would be more valuable, but of course more expensive. Ive seen MCITP classes costing up to $12k. Usually these classes are only a couple of days. In my opinion, it would be better to spend a month self studying something, than to spend 2 days in a calls then take a test. You'll forget everything you learned in the class room. I also use server 2008 r2 as my home OS so i can learn it better. It really depends on your comfort level, and your wallet. I didnt pay a penny for any certification because i self studied, and the tests/books were reimbursed by work. -gosh
  18. boot from xp cd and enter recovery console mkdiskraw 0 will overwrite the hard drive with 1's and 0's and erase any drive overlay -gosh
  19. Microsoft calls this godmode http://blogs.technet.com/ferris/archive/20...-svr2008r2.aspx
  20. ive made an iso that has every version of windows 7 and server 2008 r2 for only 3 gigs. Im thinking of writing a tutorial on it. I used new methods. -gosh
  21. I recently passed 70-680. I also passed 70-686 in beta. You can buy the mspress book, but that wasnt helpful. Examcollection.com has some good resources, along with certcollection.org -gosh
  22. Create a new folder (right-click and click on “New Folder”). Right-click on the folder and click on rename, copy and paste this: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} You now have godmode Works in vista too. I personally like goshmode better.
