  1. Yeah, I could do that. I wanted to see if people were interested in the tool first
  2. Yes. My Great Grandfather came from Turku. my last name was originally Koivuniemi
  3. Yeah, because you wrote it... I like my tool better because I wrote it. So there!!!!!
  4. I have over 1,000 downloads of this program, so I may just develop this further. Anybody have any ideas on these prospective features: 1) Adding a configurable option of either dropdown combo box, radio buttons, or push/toggle buttons. 2) Allow the addition of JPG, BMP, or GIF Backgrounds. 3) Allow the title bar to change to your liking. 4) Eliminate the 16 Program Limit. Of course I will need to charge a nominal $5.00 per copy if I am going to invest the time. But I will keep the free version available.
  5. I never said that I didnt or couldnt write a tool to search all the folders on the drive. What I am saying is that it would be foolish of me to invest the time into writing a complex tool without monetary compensation. Again, this is a free tool. I am testing to see if there is an interest in a tool to do this before I invest my time in creating and selling something like that. And I am kind of surprised to read the responses of people complaining about getting FREE SOFTWARE.. If someone were to give you a Million Dollars, would you complain if it is in small bills?
  6. Interesting. I can probably have my tool do that automatically, but my finnish grammar is bad.
  7. Your right. If you want to keep typing. But I type enough at work. I would rather use this tool to generate a bat file for me. But if you rather type a new bat file or edit an existing one, go right ahead. But I reiterate, This TOOL IS FREEEEEEEE!!!! Have fun. IF you want to write War & Peace every time you want to install a hotfix, then this is worthless to you.
  8. A little Clarification: What would you do if you downloaded these hotfixes after you installed Windows? It would be impractical to slipstream a new DVD every month. That is why this tool was designed. Because I download these hotfixes manually, I had to edit a batch file in the past for every hotfix manually. This tool does it AUTOMATICALLY. I hate Windows update because of the darn nag screens so I prefer to do it this way, and I am sure others will too. THE PRICE IS RIGHT !! I am offering this tool for free. But, if you prefer to slipstream a DVD every month, than that is up to you.
  9. I think you both are missing the point of this tool. The tools you are talking about are for slipstreaming. What would you do if you downloaded these hotfixes after you installed Windows? It would be impractical to slipstream a new DVD every month. That is why this tool was designed. Because I download these hotfixes manually, I had to edit a batch file in the past for every hotfix manually. This tool does it AUTOMATICALLY. I hate Windows update so I prefer to do it this way, and I am sure others will too. Besides, I am offering this tool for free. So don't look a Gift Horse in the mouth. But I appreciate your input. But if you prefer to slipstream a DVD every month, than that is up to you.
  10. I am not quite sure what you are asking for. I can tell from the amount of downloads that this is a popular program. What would everybody suggest that I add to it? I have another one that creates and runs a batch file to install hotfixes. you save the tool on your c drive and browse to a folder containing only your hotfixes. Keep the folder name under 8 characters. HotfixInstall.exe
  11. I have created a tool to help install hotfixes if you manually download them for Windows XP. Save the file on your C: drive and run the tool. Browse to the folder where you have saved your hotfixes, and click install. What the tool does is create a batch file to install all the hotfixes. You need to make sure the source directory name is 8 characters or less. HotfixInstall.exe
  12. here is a tool I wrote to help install the hotfixes, it creates a batchfile to install them. save the hotfixes into a directory named hotfixes ( or 8 character name ), and then run program HotfixInstall.exe
  13. It is very easy to do... Just edit the mouse module in the cdshell module folder... Instead of for output, you want to edit the mouse cursor for input from the mouse... Of course, I am an asm programmer
  14. You are getting this message due to the page swapping that is needed by the kernel due to memory requirements. Bear in mind, that windows 3.1 uses DOS as the backbone and is in essence just a GUI for Dos. So, you may be taking up the maximum lower memory capacity of 640KB(nt sure of exact capacity) but if you used dos only before and you tried to play Doom and enable a mouse and sound card you know what i am talking about
  15. The BIOS in your old machine will not support DVD Drives... See if you can flash it... The reason why it works in windows is because you are using a Windows driver and not the Real Mode Dos driver that is typically used when you boot from a CD.. I bet if you were to check your bios settings, you will see you cannot select a DVD drive as a IDE device.
  16. Here is a file I posted that you can edit for your own use. It is basically a tool that is initiated by autorun.inf, for those people who like to backup their software to DVD and want to choose which program to launch on cd\dvd insertion http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=At...e=post&id=10651
  17. Assuming that you copied the PRO1 folder to the root, and edit the pro1.dat file to point to the PRO1 folder, you need to make sure that the txtsetup.sif points to the source files for the installation, by default, txtsetup.sif will point to "\" and look for the I386 folder in the root.. ie... Do the Following: Open txtsetup.sif in PRO1 Folder look for: [setupData] SetupSourcePath = "\" Change to "\folder where you have your xp files\" ^ make sure I386 folder is in this directory
  18. Assuming that you copied the boot folders to the root, and edit the pro.dat file to point to the folders, you need to make sure that the txtsetup.sif points to the source files for the installation, by default, txtsetup.sif will point to "\" and look for the I386 folder in the root.. ie... Do the Following: Open txtsetup.sif in your PRO1 (or whatever you named your boot folder) look for: [setupData] SetupSourcePath = "\" Change to "\folder where you have your xp files\" ^ make sure I386 folder is in this directory
  19. Simple.. Create a batch file to run ghost.exe, Look at the manual that comes with ghost. Then create an autorun.inf file that will execute the batch file. You need to choose the correct switches to choose the partition or disk that you want to load or dump the image to.
  20. For PM 8, I created a Win98 boot image, and put the Dos version of PM8 in the image
  21. Are you trying to create a boot image to install Windows 98 or ME? I know in Flyakite's tutorial, it didnt mention any editing that you had to do to the images to get the CD-ROM drivers to work.
  22. You are running the Debugger with CDshell.... You can't boot from the drive when you are running from cdshw.com.... THis is only to test your menus.... Get all your files and menus together, when you got everything the way you want it, create your image with cdimage, then test it on VMWare or VirtualPC.. you are basically mounting the image like it is a cd... then try hitting the enter key, and if you don't have any typo's then it will work... PS... if you are making a DVD, and you have a large image ISO, then you will have to mount image with Daemon347 and then run virtualpc or vmware to mount that "drive" Also to answer the second part of your question, your iso is too big.... you need to download Daemon 347 and mount the drive you created with that program in virtualpc or vmware.. make sure the iso doesnt exceed the 4.7 gb dvd limit
  23. I would rather edit the boot files and copy the sif file to the boot folder myself... too much work.
